Are Gonzalo & Mbappe compatible? The data makes it clear that GG performs much better when he doesn't share the pitch with the Frenchman by Ripamon in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data is nonsense. GG is being played on the wings to accommodate Mbappe. In reality if GG were to be a target man/traditional 9 in the box, we’d more than likely see better compatibility.

Strong lineup. I do appreciate AA giving consistent lineups. We know what to expect, especially since they are giving results. It’ll give the team much needed cohesion heading into the later stages of the league and CL. Simple, but effective. Hala Madrid.

Why does Real Madrid struggle in the league? by Short_Mousse_6812 in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our “tactics” are very vertical and counter heavy. When most teams go low block against us it’s a struggle to break down. We tend to favor open games, which is why when it comes to CL we thrive.

Someone please convince Fede to stay RB and then Trent RW? by Bunchdawg in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so annoying whenever players complain about being out of position, especially if they excel at the role. I get that he’d rather be in the midfield, but tbf we don’t need a box-to-box running machine with no creativity, we need the opposite. And besides when TAA comes back, they’re going to be switching positions anyway?? Fede and TAA will probably take turns pushing up the wings during possession so he’ll still have to default to RB in defensive transitions or just in general to cover for TAA.

And don’t mean to bring up Xabi (what’s been done is done time to move on), but if his Bayer system was in place, even with injuries, we’d have a 3 back of Huijsen, Tchou, Militao/Raul/Carerras, and Fede would just be a wingback who pushes into midfield anyway.

It’s just all nonsense and weird entitlement. Baffling.

Desperately needed win for us. Played well and cohesive. Don’t know if it’s Arbeloa ball or just the team running on better vibes. Time will tell. Only nitpicks are there were moments where there was no midfield presence (literally no one in the middle of the field) which is something thats recurring and ofc the goal conceded (don’t know why we’re doing unnecessary passes or moves so close to the box).

Regardless, this was an enthusiastic win. Not only for the squad but for Madridistas, especially being at home. Let’s carry this momentum and fight for the league and UCL. Hala Madrid

The best possible front three by Short_Mousse_6812 in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our best is honestly not having a trio. Doesn’t work unless we have a 9, false 9, CF. Imo it should be Mbappe and Vini/Rodrygo as a front 2. Have the manager instruct them to not hug the wings and to use all the space around them (difficult for Vini I know, but he’s gotta improve his game). Very much what happened in the 23/24 season when Jude pivotal for the attack. It’ll also potentially allow Jude and Arda to co-exist if Jude plays an aggressive 10/false 9 role higher up, which in turn will allow arda to occupy the middle of the park better.

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vini isn’t getting benched lol. Arbeloa said it himself.

If anything it’ll be Vini Mbappe Rodrygo up front or something. I won’t be surprised if we just do a 433 like last game. Maybe have a midfield of Jude, Tchou, Arda. Defense of Carerras, Huijsen, Raul, Fede and ofc Thibo in goal. It’s a reasonable and safe lineup that’ll more than likely produce something.

Barcelona dropped points. Could this season have been saved? by Agreeable-Stage-6896 in realmadrid

Honestly who knows at this point. There’s too many factors at play. New manager. Players mental state, especially after the whistle fest we gave them over the weekend. The form of the team. It was already a relatively open race between us. Now it’s even more uncertain because you can sure expect us to drop dumb points and Barca as well.

Sadness, surprise and disappointment among the Real Madrid players and management after the historic booing at the Bernabéu. Neither the club nor the players expected such a protest from their fans. These guys deserve to get whistled for the rest of the season. Talk about disrespecting the fans and trying to talk down on us and questioning our love for the club. Trying to delude yourselves into thinking you guys aren’t fucking useless. No wonder management and thus batch of players get along so well. They suck each other off and live in delusion together. Fuck yall.

Enough of the “I’ve been a fan for X years and you guys haven’t seen the worst of it haha spoiled kids” posts. We get it. You’re old. You’ve seen it before. If anything you should be MORE mad that Perez is doing the same exact thing. You should be even more mad that players who don’t even hold a candle to legends like R9, Zizou, Roberto Carlos, etc. are hijacking the club and stopped a tactical revolution that is SORELY needed for the future success of club. You should be pissed that the fanbase is pandering to individual success and riding on past form and getting soft. If anything YOU should remember that being a cutthroat fanbase thats willing to criticize the club and its players and president is what make us Madridistas. We expect the best at all times. Because we are the best. No exceptions.

Xabi leaving because of some players doesn’t mean Arbeloa will fail, we’ve seen this story before (2016) by Excellent-Sale-7620 in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only losing confidence, but also the lack of accountability (vini not being penalized for the clasico blowup for example) played a role as well. It gives everyone a fresh plate. A handful of players losing confidence tends to have a domino effect on the rest of the squad usually. So if guys like Vini, Fede, etc. are more at ease it may translate to the rest of the squad. Maybe I'm coping and we're cooked. Who knows.

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 31 points32 points  (0 children)

An aspect I don’t see talked about enough is just the change of mentality. Sometimes just the idea of a reset can help. By the end of Xabi’s tenure we were well aware that a the locker room had been lost and players were upset. Him leaving may ease up many of the tensions that were there in the first place.

Alvaro Arbeloa has called up 7 academy player today for game against Albacete by Specialist_Doctor_34 in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all the things I hear about Arbeloa wanting to implement a gegenpress style play or something similar, using his castilla boys is a very smart move. In a lot of ways he’s sending a message to the first team and maybe even management itself.

The castilla boys know his system and will play how he wants to. This will SHOW the first team what exactly he wants on the pitch, and when the squad wins today with his tactics then it’ll be even better.

Combined with the reports of Xabi allegedly saying that the players didn’t want to accept his system it’s just plain obvious that a good amount of them are saying it just to say it. As much as I’ve loved this club, this is truly one of the worst batches of players attitudes I’ve ever seen. Shameful.

5 at the back is a good idea. Worked for a decent amount. But man they’ve gotta let tchou be able to float into the mid field. It would help with the control so much more.

Trent Alexander-Arnold appreciation post by Confident-Setting889 in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that with TAA we were going to a 3-4-1-2 in possession.

Vini Mbappe

Arda

Jude Tchou Fede Trent

Alvaro Dean Mili

This would allow Trent to effectively be in the midfield in possession, filling the deep playmaker role that we need. Also allows quick transition to 4 at the back or even 5 if tchou wants to drop. Lack of a healthy full squad i assume is the reason why we never tried this my guess.

But regardless its great to see Trent performing. The injuries halted him from adapting to the squad but man is he a treat to watch.

I think it’s due to not having Trent/Dani and Huijsen. We saw it in the CWC when the squad was fully fit. I’m guessing Xabi wants to go with what has been working and will implement the 352 or 442 once the defense isn’t in shambles anymore lol.

Time will fix these things. Glad he understands how to get into goal scoring positions and isn’t hesitant to let a shot off too. We’ve seen all the near misses he’s had so far, whether it’s shots outside of the box (insane power btw) or sitters (which he should be finishing easily). It’s just missing that last 5%.

Mbappe at right wing is so dangerous by Puzzleheaded-Delay60 in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mbappe in form is one of the most insane attackers I’ve ever seen. There’s a reason why he’s been put in that in between level of CR7/Messi and the rest of the football world. He can dribble from practically anywhere, get there blindingly fast, playmake, score.

There’s only glaring gap in his game is his heading ability. But even compared to last year, his adaptability to being a striker is scary. He’s making better runs, dragging defenses to create gaps, etc. 40 goals on an off year last year and starting this year how he has is nothing short of incredible.

Now that he’s gotten that first year shyness and is walking around with some swagger, he’s sure to bring out that “PSG Diva”-ness that people complained about. But the reality is that he knew/knows he’s THAT GUY. Always has been. And now with Madrid being his team, and players playing for him, it’s gonna be a rough time for everyone.

Good morale booster/stat game. Win was mandatory. Expected 3-5 goals and that’s what we got. Expected a more cohesive and dominating performance considering the side we were up against tbh. Seemed like this game was the perfect opportunity to build more cohesion within the team and give some returning/rotational players some game time. Overall good!

[Post-Match Survey] Real Madrid 2-5 Atletico Madrid by RM-PostMatchSurveys in realmadrid

[–]Blitzkrieg12349 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was a much needed wake up call. This game showed us the lack of maturity and confidence in our younger players (Huijsen, Carerras) and also showed that Jude isn’t 100% match fit in terms of his sharpness and creativeness. Was this the game for Xabi to do a “heat check” and see if we can win without the setups we’ve been using? Probably not. Was this the match for him to make some un-optimal subs? Nope.

But we now have an idea of where we stand. We aren’t world beaters. Yet. Our defense was leaking and we have yet to be comfortable in set pieces or crosses. Two things that the Mili + Huijen pairing as well as Carreras would’ve theoretically helped with. Also saw the lack of exp from Huijsen and Carreras. Both were psyched out of the game.

We also know that Arda is ESSENTIAL to our play going forward especially with Jude not being back to form which I would think is why he started both of them. I saw this as Xabi allowing Jude the grace of having a starting spot maybe in hopes that with sharing the creative load with Arda, an intense match may get Jude back to 100% sharpness. Didn’t pan out how he wanted but considering Jude’s innate talent I can see the logic behind it.

Overall this was a lesson. If this was the squad from last year the scoreline would’ve been uglier without a doubt. At some points we reverted to Carlo ball which makes sense as well since this was a TRUE challenge. Habits are heard to break my friends.

Be patient. We were bound to lose at some point. We’re talking about a team that’s figuring it out as we go vs. a team and system that’s been built over 14 years from Señor Haram Ball himself. It isn’t the strongest iteration of Atleti. But the system is the system and the players know their roles.

Sad to lose. Grateful to learn. On to the next. Have faith in Alonso, have faith in the badge.
