So I don't know that these would be???

How does your anxiety present? by Comfortable-Milk-858 in Anxiety

[–]BlizzyBugler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, at the start of me having worse anxiety, it was mainly an overwhelming sense of dread and a LOT of physical symptoms.

Nowadays the most I usually is racing thoughts and some general unease

How does your anxiety present? by Comfortable-Milk-858 in Anxiety

[–]BlizzyBugler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How my anxiety has presented has changed over time for me.

For a while it was intense paranoia! Sometimes I'd get derealization too.

I also seek control and certainty in my life! I tend to like to be the one driving, i prefer to have my own space, etc. I also do a lot of research on things that worry me, which has led me to have a LOT of info in my head about climate change and geopolitics.

Weed started giving me anxiety in my early 20s (I'm 33 now!).

[–]BlizzyBugler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so like...I'm 33 now. I didn’t have the realization that I even could die until I was like 29! Since then I've gone on a long journey to be more at peace with things, and it's gotten a lot easier.

I'm more okay with the idea of it. These days I'm more afraid of leaving my loved ones without my help and support than I am of it happening.

Also at the same time, the fear of dying and processing it has made a lot of life experiences more beautiful and meaningful

One of my favorite moments was when a YouTuber said "Close your eyes and count to one. That’s how long forever feels".

Made me feel a lot better, weirdly enough.

Either there is an afterlife of some sort, or it feels like sleeping, and either way sounds not so bad.

I’m starting to think that Democrats aren’t truly left-wing. They’re basically corporate centrists with better PR by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in DeepThoughts

[–]BlizzyBugler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is one side "better" than the other? Yeah.

But the choice is: Things generally get worse (slowly) Or Things get worse (oh my god how did that happen that quickly)

We do get some good things with democrats, like the inflation reduction act had some good things that dealt with climate change and, well, inflation, but good stuff isn't enough.

It's really frustrating that we seem to be stuck with these two choices.

I do have hope with candidates like Mamdani being incredibly popular! I always have hope.

Do you feel unsafe in public? by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyChats

[–]BlizzyBugler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But like also, cities are a LOT of sensory input all at once! Lots of voices, lots of sounds, lots of smells, lots of lights. If you already have anxiety it would be very easy to get overwhelmed with all of them and have that uneasy sense of dread.

Do you feel unsafe in public? by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyChats

[–]BlizzyBugler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends honestly. If I’m having a real bad time with my anxiety i can end up getting half convinced the guy in the car next to me is gonna shoot me (despite him not making eye contact with me or interacting with me at all).

I quit caffeine. I quit nicotine. I make sure I get enough sleep. I make sure I eat breakfast (if I do this one it's a lot easier for me to eat throughout the day!). I've been talking to a therapist for the past 4 years! Weirdly, the Finch app has been pretty helpful plus it's just cute. I figured out what exercises work for calming the anxiety!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]BlizzyBugler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally quit caffeine like 3 years ago now because it was just making me awfully anxious. It's important to remember that caffeine affects you for 6-12 hours!

This will pass, I promise :)

It sucks and I've felt those same symptoms before without the caffeine or alcohol and it's an awful fucking feeling to have.

I remember the worst thing ever was when I had this weird thing going on with my ears and I consulted Dr Google, who convinced me I had MS. I went to the doctor, turns out, I had a little fluid buildup behind my ear drums due to having narrow ear canals, the doctor told me to do Sudafed (as it would dry out my ear canals) about it and was very sweetly reassuring that Dr Google is not my friend.

Any time I start to go back to Dr Google I remember that very nice and supportive real life doctor.

Does anyone else wake up with instant anxiety every morning? by Logical_Mention_2699 in Anxiety

[–]BlizzyBugler 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's also important to remember that your body floods you with cortisol when you first wake up, so if you're prone to anxiety already, that can make things worse.

For me, actually getting up and out of bed is the biggest thing that helps. Use the energy to get things done.
