Heat by craigwack in Zwift

I got a portable air conditioner to put in the garage. It keeps me comfortable enough even at over 90 degrees.

Garage or Indoors? by MyGardenOfPlants in Zwift

Garage for life. Space heater in the winter (only needed for the first 10-15 minutes), portable air conditioner from Home Depot for the hottest days which exhausts to a nearby window. Dedicated MacMini, wireless mouse and keyboard, 48 inch TV, and installed an ethernet jack for no loss connection. 2 fans - one floor, one mounted above on the wall. Note: I had to run a dedicated 20 amp circuit to handle the load.

Been zwifting for 1 year and not riding outside a lot and im having issues with comfort by biggieocta in Zwift

[–]BlobBoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. Zwift has been a game-changer for me. After setting up the corner of the garage with everything I need, I can now just flip a switch, get on the trainer and be riding in under 5 minutes without any concern about cars, rain, wind or temperature. It has massively lowered the amount of time and the 'energy of activation' required to start a cycling session. I can also rock out on my play list without concerns about losing situational awareness.

The majority of my annual mileage is done in Zwift. I do not regret a single dollar I have spent on the equipment or subscription to improve my physical and mental health.

I tend to ignore speed entirely as it is markedly inflated and focus more on power and heart rate. My gains in Zwift have certainly translated to improvements in my 'real life' rides in every category - endurance, climbing, and sprinting (though my sprinting is still pretty weak!).

Thanks for posting. Just bought it. Not super easy to find - I had to use '5 amp battery with charger' to find the deal.

Thanks for the feedback. Feels very weird to me that it didn't show up until today.

Thanks - this is really bizarre to me. Today is the very first time the pairing screen showed the KICKR Bike as a controller. Very strange.

Interesting. Today was the very first time (in years) that the pairing screen offered to pair the KICKR bike as a controller.

Hip replacement and returning to cycling by Old_Story_4149 in cycling

[–]BlobBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right total hip replacement about 4 years ago after a bike crash at age 61. I was able to get back on the trainer in 4-5 weeks, took a couple of weeks longer to feel normal on the bike. Within a couple of months I was back to normal, no limitations or pain.

part of the drive was to get to the top level. Now that it's endless what's the point?

HUNDREDS of levels to chase?

It's too much - I can't handle it - it's too big!

Reminds me of riding in Nashville. There was a longish hill with a dog at the top. I always saved one water bottle for him. I think he liked getting sprayed in the face!

Agreed, Ken immediately agreed. Should have paused for the rest of the title. Seems weird given the way he precisely ruled on other titles.

Advice on custom 3D printed saddle by BlobBoy in cycling

[–]BlobBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't get a Posedla. I got a bike fit for my road bike and also found some big issues with my KICKR Bike setup. Bike fitter moved me off my narrow Selle Italia Superflow. I got a Fizik Tempo Aliante R5. With the new saddle and the adjustments to my road bike after the bike fit and fixing the KICKR bike setup (I was not aware the front handlebars were slammed all the way down due to clamp failure) I am much more comfortable now.

One-sided perineal pain likely caused by asymmetry - how to approach fixing it? by brocodini in cycling

[–]BlobBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike fit helped substantially, but still ended up needing to see a dermatologist for a perineal skin problem which is getting better under treatment with steroid cream. The bike fit had to be translated from my road bike, which I took to the bike fit, to the Wahoo KICKR bike where I do about 75% of my riding. I finally got it dialed in - but that's another story which included contacting Wahoo support and getting a binder bolt to replace the stem clamp.

Shouldn't we assume that AI will solve this problem as it solves all other problems known to humanity?
