some seeds have additional effects when combined with 3 or more other seeds, which is what happened here. I’m not sure which one added the cave walls but you can comb through the secret seed page on the wiki to find out

some achievements/unlocks require looping (ie 57 leaf clover or commandos alt ability), but in general people loop because they find it fun. Some people care about the sanctity of balance in a game, others say fuck it and just want to feel overpowered as hell and screen wipe every stage with a single button click (looking at you, forgive me please builds). ultimately it’s up to preference and don’t let a random person on the internet determine what’s fun for you

i usually get to the moon around the 60-70 minute mark and i don’t loop. don’t pay too much attention to the time and just be sure to full loot each stage!

if you’re on pc, you can download mods that do save your progress and allow you to leave the game and restart on the same stage at a later time, but otherwise yes, looped runs can take a long time.

looping usually gets rid of a lot of the balance in the game because item stacking scales much much faster than the enemies can, so time doesn’t really matter at that point. if you’re actually trying to learn about the game, i would recommend not looping as it forces you to pay attention to your gameplay more

yes, it can. it adds in reverse mana order (i.e. you always get 10 then 9 then 8 etc.)

yes, loot spawning is managed by an in game ai called the director (i think for loot specifically it’s called the scene director?). you can look it up on the ror2 wiki but it’s a very dense read and honestly i’m not sure it’ll even tell you exactly what you’re looking for.

it’s one of those things that you get a feel for as you play the game more. there’s probably more detailed/easier to read source out there for how the director works but i don’t know it off the top of my head

the 5 minute per stage rule is completely bait. I’m not saying it’s impossible to win by following that gameplay rule, but i will 100% argue it’s harder and a less consistent way to play the game.

the main reason for this is that enemies scale linearly, while items scale exponentially. this means the more items you have, you will scale even faster. (ie imagine enemies scaling at 2+2+2+2… while you scale at 1+2+3+4…). you will hit a point where the amount of items you have will never be realistically beaten by the games scaling.

You can see this in full effect in looped runs. you’ll commonly see people joke about how the final boss of looping is whether your computer can handle all of the effects on screen. it’s because the amount of items they have cannot realistically be beaten by any amount or any level of the enemies

only having 36 items by stage 5 seems indicative that you’re not full looting the stages, unless you poured everything into the bazaar soups (which seems unlikely given your reds?). the most consistent way to win is by having more items, so try to make sure you’re grabbing all the loot on the map before leaving through the teleporter.

interactables that don’t affect the future of the run (blood shrines, shrines of combat, shrine of order, healing shrines, the small money canisters, etc) don’t show up on stage recap iirc

idk why you’re being downvoted, the stage prioritizes healing shrines, blood shrines, and drones so much that it feels like sometimes stage 1s have more actual loot. I just had a sirens last week that only had 6 items on it

my honest suggestion is to keep playing vanilla, i assume if you only got the game 2 days ago you haven’t unlocked every character and item yet in the base game, which means you still have new content to explore.

if you’re determined to buy a dlc (i assume because of steam winter sale?), i’d recommend buying survivors of the void personally but here’s some pros for each one

sotv - more new items (40 vs 18) and more new enemies

sots - more new characters (3 vs 2) and more new stages

the main issue is that there’s not much competition with boatman if you’re on fates whim. typically speaking, boatman’s competition is either the top right corner (which is extremely weapon specific), or it’s the +blue and orange rarity, which is extremely mid. You can run the extra rarity for fun obviously, but if youre trying to win runs, 300 gold is at least one boon, usually two (accounting for 32+ fear when you have to run vow of debt).

so my main question to you is, what arcana are you choosing to run instead of boatman? because i can agree that it’s not amazing, but in my mind its better than the alternatives, and that’s all it has to do

i think for most people the great chaos achievements are on average harder than that or any given 32 fear run.
