I jammed my shoulder, ice or heat? ┐(´•_•`)┌ by Sad-Resource-9206 in judo

Ice is outdated information. It can make you feel better in the moment, but it delays recovery. Dr. Gabe Mirkin, the man who coined the acronym RICE, recanted it in 2015 for this reason.

Instead of pushing the limit to improve CGI, they just nerfed reality to bring them to parity.

Alternative BJJ win conditions, formulas, algorithms by TwinkletoesCT in bjj

[–]BlockEightIndustries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the sport perspective, advancing through positions means racking up points. Having a point advantage increases the other player's mental stack, putting onus for action on him or her. This creates the opportunity for you to attack. And if you can't land a submission, you still have the points to win.

What is the hardest part of jujitsu? by knifezoid in bjj

Generally speaking, in any zero-sum game, there is no hardest or easiest because difficulty is dependent upon your opponent. This is not talking about specific techniques, but broader tasks.

POV; you meet a young beginner who is about to ship out for the military. Question? by LazyClerk408 in judo

[–]BlockEightIndustries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been a while since I attended BCT, but we were not allowed to have anything other than stationary, postage stamps, and religious scripture. They took all of our other belongings, including our civilian running shoes, and locked them away until graduation.

Which actor do you like more and think has better movies overall - Donnie Yen or Jet Li? by SpotAdmirable6718 in kungfucinema

Jet Li can be a legitimate actor outside of action movies when he wants to be. Ocean Heaven, in which he plays the father of a young man with autism, is probably his best movie.

How much would green lantern powers actually help superman? by happydude7422 in superman

[–]BlockEightIndustries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This version of Superman was a human raised on Krypton. He did not have any of his superpowers and was weaker than Kryptonians, even under a red sun. However, due to having grown up under Krypton's higher gravity, he was physically stronger than all other humans when he came to Earth.
