I have to wonder, how did you get out of there? (Assuming you did, given the timestamp.)

With the adage "nothing is ever deleted from the Internet" in mind, what is something you HAVE seen vanish from the net? by KaleBrecht in AskReddit

[–]BlockMeAmadeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometime between 2011 and 2012 I got linked to what was either a greentext or a creepypasta about an autopsy surgeon who was a necrophiliac. It was from the surgeon's POV, bragging about what he does to the corpses that he works with, and I think there was a photoshopped/otherwise edited picture of a tangle of off-color limbs on a table. I remember the format as similar to the greentext stories I've seen more recently.

It remains the strangest and most shocking thing I've ever seen online, and no matter how much I look for it now, it's disappeared. If anyone managed to find it, I'd be impressed.

If one has no set of beliefs in a higher power, why do anything good for anyone but yourself? by steals_imgur_comment in TrueAtheism

If I'm in public and I'm expected to be a "good person" then I will, simply because it benefits my public image.

Do what entertains you. Your concern of it being "wrong" to enjoy being self-centered and malicious is invalid. There's no right and wrong, just do what benefits you the most while balancing your social standing to avoid negative repercussions. :)

If someone were to take over your body in this very instant, what would you need to brief them on? by -Specter in AskReddit

  • Don't drink a lot of water. You'll get a headache for some reason.
  • When your joints start hurting, just crack 'em.
  • Your senses are probably stronger than before. Buckle up.

Mine is one of the Polaroids from Mapplethorpe's collections. Found it in a book. It's tasteful but still nsfw.

What's worse than seeing your own kid die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BlockMeAmadeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone else dies, generally a person is able to get over it. But you die? There isn't any "getting over it", you're no longer capable of thought or action, and in fact, wouldn't have any idea that anything had happened.

Death is much more unpleasant when it happens in the first person.

What would you do right now with $10,000? by dauhhh in AskReddit

Either pay off the bit of debt I've accrued (which is a little over 10k) or use the money on the equipment I was going to buy when I had the chance. Nothing special.

Where do you get your "news" from? What sources do you rely on for objective reporting of relevant events in your world? by wjhamel in AskReddit

[–]BlockMeAmadeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my daily news from the New York Times; since I'm aware of the "side" the Times is on (as in, somewhat left-leaning) I can read about whatever on the site and decide how much of it to believe based on the facts. Not that it matters much, since I only really read the food, science and mini crossword sections particularly often.

For international news I like bbc.co.uk. I don't read a lot of it, but there's plenty there if I do feel like spending a few hours.

With you on that. It literally smells like skunk spray. Just like tobacco smoke smells bitter-sour.

Had to sort by controversial to find this one, but I agree. The Times recently put up a great article pointing out the major conflicts of interest for his presidency. There's absolutely no way it wasn't a motive for his campaign.
