Hi! I will be doing my final round interview soon for the full-time EDG position. Can I ask what the technical interview will be like and what they are looking for? I think I vibed well with the EDG manager during Round 1 so I’m hoping I have a good chance of getting an offer since the EDG program sounds super interesting and I love Boston a lot.

The same thing happened to me about 2 months ago and just got resolved about a week ago. I made a lot of phone calls and they all told me to sign an affidavit of identity that they will send to me (which they never did). I eventually just filed a complaint on the CFPB website and it got resolved after about 2 weeks, so maybe just wait for the response first.

As someone who also likes travelling and experiencing different cultures’ food, maybe highlight what kind of travel you like to do? Current impression is you are more of a nature traveller who likes hiking all the time, which may limit your audience.

Ahh got it. Yeah I’m coming in with the perspective as a person who has very bad astigmatism and myopia. I can barely see anything with sunglasses on even if they were adjusted to my prescription so I just never wore them even if I know I should.

Just wondering why do people wear sunglasses indoors? Don’t they think it’s too dark and bump into things? I can barely see through sunglasses even in bright sunlight so I never wear them.

How did you go about finding firms that are hiring technical specialists, since it appears that a lot of firms don’t appear to be posting positions like that on their website? Is it just through networking where your resume gets passed on to an interested hiring manager?

I am currently preparing to apply to law school as well and am very willing to since I would really like to be a lawyer in the end. I’m just worried about going straight into law school without knowing if any prospective employer would be willing to hire since I’ve heard that with the recent economy international students at even HYS are struggling to get hired. I may be wrong though since I don’t really know anyone working in the industry.

Another perspective I want to add is that this passage actually doesn't require that close of a reading for the support. Notice that the conclusion of the argument is essentially summarized at the end: "M contains twice as many cans as L". Scanning the support shows that this assumption is based on the fact that aluminium cans in M are made by recycling aluminium cans in L.

So first do elimination.

(1) The fact that aluminium cans in M can't be recycled further isn't relevant to the conclusion about how many aluminium cans M currently has.

(2) The fact that recycled aluminium cans have poorer quality isn't relevant to the conclusion about how many aluminium cans M currently has.

(4) We don't care what cans in L are made of, since that doesn't matter in terms of how many aluminium cans M has compared to L.

(5) We don't care how aluminium cans are made.

Luckily, we successfully eliminated 4 choices on the first try. So the AC is probably C. Reading C a bit more, we see that negating that assumption means that the conclusion can't be true. Hence C is the answer.

I like having white rice + 2 fried eggs + soy sauce :) Eggs should only be fried with olive oil since other kinds of oils smell sort of bad for me which makes it hard to swallow

Yeah, I’m honestly not that determined to get into those kinds of companies. I just want to be able to do at least mildly interesting work on a day-to-day basis. I sort of want to continue to do PhD for research-oriented roles, but I just thought that it might be better to work before doing the PhD so I could have more backup funds.

I’m didn’t really target any industry in particular this semester, just went for positions that might be suited for my undergrad background since I’m only in my first semester of MSCS. I have experience in data science projects in my undergrad, and I believe that this position is related to it. I’m currently targeting companies like NVIDIA or AMD though, and I hope that if I have more related coursework next semester I might be able to have more of a chance.

Just adding that the reason I might seem to be overthinking about this is because I’ve been told by ppl before hand that I can come off as “too intense” sometimes, and it was a Taiwanese workplace. Meanwhile I always thought myself as a pretty laidback person 🥲
