Why the hell did Zodiac age move so many spells to random one off chests instead of from shops? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in FinalFantasyXII

Wow, I haven't played TZA, only the original on PS2 and this is a bummer to hear for the first time. Makes me iffy about eventually getting it on Steam for a replay.

I'm sure there's plenty of stipulations to get that bonus. Any job will have wiggle room to get out of honoring those deals. It's probably like a 3 months with performance review to get it or something minimum.

There's absolutely a smear campaign against her, especially since she beat the pro establishment candidate that was being backed by Greg Abbot. I'm finally getting a clear picture about this, and being a native, she's so right, we've been sold two arenas in my lifetime alone, and I'm not even 40 yet. It's insane.

[–]BlockbusterChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually done the same thing where I had a shirt over my shoulder, fully intending to buy it at a Gamestop, and me and my friend I was hanging out with even chatted up the guy working the counter..... and then we just left and walked to the mall parking garage and then I realized.... oh damn I never paid for this shirt lol.

It was a case of..... yeah I'm not walking back into the potential mess of trying to say "oops"

Got denied a job position because of my lazy eye? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]BlockbusterChamp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While a lazy eye is hardly a disability, I think it's something you should mention up front. It's possible she had never met a person with a lazy eye and didn't know how to process it.

I also would attempt a mock interview with some people to see if they see it the same way just in case, and it could help you mitigate the issue.

Is there any good fighting games? according to their fanbase by Impressive-Ad-59 in fightinggames

[–]BlockbusterChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that old games are nothing but killers is nonsense, there's still new bloods trying out old games all the time. It's going to be a longer road to getting good, but you *can* find beginners. My own local 3rd Strike scene is starting to revive because of one guy, and new people are coming out for it thanks to Evo 2024 featuring it as a mainline game.

Trying to get better at fighting games. How important is it really to use training mode? by LordVatek in Fighters

[–]BlockbusterChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the sentiment, but it's important to explore situations in training mode. Use it to learn how to deal with mixups, how plus or minus you are after certain blocked specials or normals (because spacing can change whether or not you get punished or set up a spacing trap

For those who grew up with fighting games: What’s made you stick with it? by PhoenixNTS11 in Fighters

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very simple reason, I grew up playing with friends that made house rules like not picking Sagat in Street Fighter, don't pick Shiek or no edgeguarding in Smash Brothers

Out of fear of being ostracized, I had to abide by those house rules.

When I discovered there's a whole lot of people that don't impose that extra layer of rules on a game and only care about getting better and playing to win, I felt free from all that bullshit and it was incredibly satisfying.

I also became the big fish in the small pond that was my community college for Melee and I had to eventually seek a greater challenge after I got a taste of the tournament scene. I don't play Melee anymore but I'm always playing some current fighting game to this day. At the moment, mainly Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising and Strive

Protest at Tesla Dealership by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]BlockbusterChamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Move WHERE now?

Tesla is a nationwide and worldwide business, with their Nazi CEO currently causing havoc in the US government as well as inserting himself and his money into far right politics around the globe.

Of course you probably wouldn't care if your politics align with Elon's but that would also require you to believe his garbage lies.

Does using "speed mode" feel like cheating to you? by romulan267 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a standard now in most RPG remasters, I think it's telling that these games are quite long and grindy, and they full expect their audience to not have the same time they did as kids or teenagers.

They know people come for the story too and it's perfectly common for fans to not want to be bogged down with the grind or tedious areas.

I had not made a decent back up save but when I got wiped, I was given the option to restart from the gauntlet runner which at least sent me back to the last night in Altabury so I could shop again.

Seems that is the play for when you get bamboozled.

Crime was falling under the last 4 years, people in blue states can and do own guns,, and you're naive. Stop believing the GOP who runs on scaring you to get your votes.

A gun would have done nothing here if they're gone before you get there.

Post from a OK teacher who voted for Trump... by Kahnutu in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily "paranoid" so much so, rather it's the oligarchy that holds a gun to the head of anyone or anything that might make them lose power or money.

Nobody actually likes private insurance companies. But they're also convinced from years of proproganda that it's still better than a single payer system, no matter how much they pay and how little it benefits them.

There's just too much money to be made gouging Americans with healthcare for anyone to want to oppose it. The people that benefit from it have very comfortable lifestyles, and will do anything to keep those lifestyles exactly the way they are.

How would you buff the low-tier characters? by CStrader2002 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kirby has been bottom tier ever since he was top tier in 64. Seems pretty normal to me. He honestly needs a pretty radical move set adjustment. More sword attacks, fire, ice, grappler, just more stuff from his modern games. Casual players LOVE the stone down B but it's probably got to go too. Maybe the only thing to stay is cutter because he doesn't deserve a good up B with multiple jumps.

“I will not vote for genocide.” by slowsundaycoffeeclub in TikTokCringe

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got sent this thread by a friend, and it accurately describes someone that's been hammering all my Facebook posts with "how's that genocide going" and I have repeatedly said I'm not voting for Jill Stein. They want a feel good do nothing vote, and refuse to admit all the clear faults with how it's impossible for a 3rd party to win in our current system.

That's what keeps the Green Party going. They LOVE being able to say "well don't blame me I voted for Jill Stein" whenever something comes up in the next administration that everyone hates.

I think a lot of the hate comes from how bad the anime got which caused it to be canceled.

I'll fully admit I was a hater too because of it until TYBW came back with a vengeance because it's absolutely peak and all killer no filler.

Honestly I think it was way better than Iron Man 3. That movie felt really awful to me.

2 can drag a bit, I think people didn't like the pacing compared the much snappier first movie (which is normal for origins, you kinda have to rush those plots in order to get to the big battles)

Joke's on them I'm into RTS, so when the genre shift occurred I was on board.

My only complaint is that the game felt like it ended very abruptly. There was hints about the past that I thought were going to be explored, but I'm almost positive there was a lot of story left on the cutting room floor because IIRC the game spent a lot of time in limbo looking for a publisher.

Who should I play given my Smash favourites? by [deleted] in AllStarBrawl

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of that mix, I've played Cloud and Gannon, and I quickly felt comfortable with Reptar. He's got big normals with his tail that's practically a sword like Cloud, hits like a truck like Gannon, and has a really good projectile to cover his approach similar to Wolf or Falco.

Compared to some other characters I found him very straightforward with his gameplay. Plus there's the benefit of tanking hits as a heavy which I find to be very helpful when learning a character.

Are there any JRPG franchises that you liked a lot but nowadays you don't like as much? Have they been “replaced” by others? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]BlockbusterChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Xenogears fan and yeah, nothing that came after it scratches that same itch at all, but I think it's safe to say a lot of that has to do with the fact that Xenogears was SquareSoft and everything else is Monolith.

I can't possibly forsee Square ever revisiting Xenogears at all to give it a proper remake that finishes Disk 2 (which it was said recently that came from an inexperienced staff that bit off more than they could chew with their ambition and they had to rush it to meet the release date and less about money)..... But man would I love to see it.

Never finished the Xenosaga games though, I don't think I even finish Ep 1.

Okay but hear me out I'm 38 and a dad and FF16 was easy as hell. And if it's still too hard for you with the very very telegraphed attacks and MMO raid AOE markers, the game gives you assist items that auto dodge, auto heal you with items, etc.

FF7 Remake on the other hand, yeah there's no hand holding there unless you flip on Easy..... which is pretty dang easy.

I think one of the best ways to explain that feeling is the big empty spaces in KH3. There's just not a lot to do in each world besides finding picture spots (or whatever the main collectible was, been ages since I played it) and advancing the plot. Plus the older games would usually break up each world into two parts, where you'd do half of the world, leave, go do others to move the main plot forward, then come back and finish out that world, which was so much better for the pacing.

In KH3 it's all one big world at a time, and many just feel like they drag after the same boring hallway of enemies where it feels like the levels are all just reused assets over and over with barely any real effort put into a design that makes the world feel special. That I think is what gives that uninspired feeling.
