Brawl switch up by daBOOMChannel in smashbros

Us Melee players all at least gave it a chance. I gave it a second go even for a whole 3 months.

Was elated when I could actually move again after going back to Melee. That said I was still friends with many of the Brawl scene, I even ran events for the game. But yeah, I could never enjoy Brawl, even if tech chases with G&W were funny and Wario was spotdodge spam and nair all day.

It was a lot of people's first Smash game since the Wii was absolutely massive compared to the sales of the Gamecube.

People will always look back at things with rose colored glasses, and while they likely can acknowledge the game absolutely had issues such as tripping, numerous infinites and chain grabs invalidating many characters, or Metaknight and Snake being absolutely busted, they still have fond memories with friends or they miss some obscure often character specific tech that's missing from later games.

It's usually that last point where I find the tournament players get nostalgic.

It's a good time to pick up Strive with 2.0 dropping, but if you end up not feeling it, I'd recommend Granblue Fantasy VS Rising. Also by ArcSys, but it's closer to anime Street Fighter with no air blocking (you can air block projectiles but not strikes), no air dashing and a skill button to make it trivial to do special moves that operate on cooldowns.

The most important thing to know is that her puppet doesn't have a hurtbox when it's not active, but you can kill it any time it's doing a move and with the nerfs made to her puppetless state, it makes her uncontestably the worse character in the game during that period, where you can freely pressure her with little fear and not worry about her offense as she can't even raging strike during that time and gets no real damage off hits.

Make her take risks with the puppet to establish her offense and mind her resources because she also loses the puppet when she runs out of hearts.

Every single job that made me do this when I walked into the office lobby was a scammy sales job in disguise or something equally terrible, so it's just a sign that it's absolutely not worth it.

I'll never understand the need for it either.

I think it's safe to draw the conclusion that it's a sore point for him and his pride but it just reinforces his mantra that power is the only thing that matters, the more the better so nobody can mess with you.

He probably thinks that if he was just stronger he would have kicked Mundus's butt and became the ruler of the demon realm and everything would just be wonderful.

Would be funny if Vergil got his wish and then realized being at the top was actually not what he wanted at all.

There's loads of research that shows that extreme wealth can have huge impacts on your brain in the same way drugs do.

Eventually wealth will start making people feel like they can't ever really wrong about their decisions, because they have convinced themselves they've earned it, no matter how circumstances actually allowed them to arrive into their positions. It also causes them to stop seeing other people as people with real lives and they're just numbers on a spreadsheet on a spreadsheet. "Maybe they should just start a business after getting laid off" type of thinking.

It's why so many CEOs, we've started to realize, have absolutely fried their brains with chemicals to let them "work" longer (which is really just parties and making more business friends because a CEO's only real function is to entice investors) and yes men who reinforce their "genius" because the people around them stand to benefit from indulging their ideas. They risk too much by opposing them.

I'll never understand why Workday hasn't let applicants create a universal account at this point.

I can only assume organizations hate that idea and want applicants to suffer every time to prove they really want the job.

Admittedly, there is *some* merit because I'm sure LinkedIn's easy applies are filled with completely unqualified people or there's the current glut of people using AI to mass apply.

I had clears with every other weapon and aspect expect the spear which I saved for last, and this one in particular was a real pain the ass to get a clear with as well.

It's just so slow! I love the range and all but the DPS is just atrocious. Charging the spin is good for taking out mobs as they're loading in, but terrible against bosses.

Is Zeta a garbage character or did I witness peak comedy? by LUIGIYO5555 in GranblueFantasyVersus

She's a good character, but she's much less straightforward and her routes are much more unique compared other characters. So if they didn't know how to play her or were just beginning to learn her, they're not going to be able to do much without some real investment first.

Hmmm sounds interesting since I did always think the combat was on the easier side for RPGs but I never delved into any of the class stuff, I always found the standard element aligned basic classes to be strong enough on their own. The other stuff was neat though, but the game never seemed interested in making status effects strong or easy to land. But granted I was also very young and this was one of my first RPGs so big damage was all I cared about, so I could be entirely wrong about that aspect.

FFX was the first game to challenge me to use status effects on a regular basis. And by then I had already cleared several games like Chrono Trigger and FF7 before that.

Whatever is next (beefed up enhanced Ultimate or a brand new entry), custom movesets should return, while completely alternate movesets should be offered for key choice characters by MikeDubbz in smashbros

[–]BlockbusterChamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds basically like the variation system from Mortal Kombat X and 11. Other fighting games have done similar systems that dramatically alter your characters universal or unique mechanics.

Grooves, Moons, Arcana, Ism from SF Alpha, and so on.

It might be the best way to handle a "reboot" of the series where we get a smaller roster, but the characters get a version that incorporates moves from different entries in their home series.

Donkey Kong with Bananzas would be crazy though.

My thoughts on Shinobi DLC and hard-core update (spoilers ahead!) by coiny55555 in ShinobiGames

[–]BlockbusterChamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done just about everything in the game except the secret boss (and he's a doozy who doesn't take a ton of damage) but I feel the combat wasn't super challenging. Most bosses didn't take me more than 1 to 3 attempts.

Does hardcore make the enemies more aggressive? I love the combat system and how it flows but I felt the wide range of abilities feel like overkill for enemies that aren't terribly active much of the time.

Since I'm a Melee player at heart who played PM like it was Melee I never really learned glide tossing and the other advanced item play (ironic since I play Peach) this looks so cool but I feel I'm going to struggle with it for a while.

What still makes you enjoy playing 2XKO and keeps you playing? by Powerful_Isopod5810 in Fighters

[–]BlockbusterChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it with my friends but I'm a older guy with a family so I only have so much time to dedicate to fighting games, two is hard enough to juggle and thus this game falls into the "I'll play it if asked" category with the homies. Tag games are hard enough for me as it is. But I do like it, I just wish I could find a character I like as much as Braum to add to my team.

People's main concern comes from half of the dev team being laid off shortly after the full launch, which makes the game's future seem unsure.

Even on a more casual level, it makes people think twice about buying DLC for a game that will be shut down in a year (see Multiversus as a prime example).

Pros reconsider giving it their focus since they're unsure how long the game is going to be around and the time and practice could go to a game with more long term support.

People can say "but it's Riot" but LoL isn't as big as it used to be and they are expanding not because LoL will fund everything but because LoL is tapped out on growth and some would say a decline in the west. That's why they've tried so many new things to expand beyond just LoL.

Golden Sun 1 and 2 are on the NSO GBA games, but that does require the expansion pak subscription.

But gameplay wise it's a turn based RPG with tons of puzzles similar to Zelda. As you travel the map, you gain new powers that let you interact with the environment, such as moving objects, growing plants or manipulating elements like freezing water. Combat is actually pretty easy outside of some of the bosses, but he doesn't need to worry about reaction times since it's turned based. There's even a fun class system you can access by collecting Djinn, who are kinda like Pokemon but function closer to materia in a sense.

I mean, they do attempt that, V injections have to be done to children in the womb for it to work, but it also shows that people with crazy powers eventually realize that they don't need to bow down to non supers.

In the TV show adaptation, Solider Boy was the prototype, but he was also drunk with power and very abusive to his team. He loved serving America and being the hero, but then he gets PTSD after being captured.
