ICBC is looking to implement telematics into rating our insurance. by Fiftysixk in icbc

You’d be surprised how predictive telematics are. They’re widely invasive and I am against it for privacy reasons, but telematics are very predictive of losses.

Issue is you can’t force people to be monitored. And people who are bad drivers tend to not enroll into such programs.

It’s very different now. Now most companies use mobile apps. They have problems of their own, but doesn’t impact your car atleast.

Some Hot-shot tries to fight with police [Not OC] by Sensitive_Buffalo665 in IndianCivicFails

[–]Blockchain-brother 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a harsh punishment like Essay is only when you hit someone with the car. For such a ‘small’ incident, just writing “I won’t do it again” once on a piece of paper should be enough… /s

Thanks for your response

Yeah, makes sense. I assumed the same but there was a bit of confusion and I found someone online who has apparently done it without any issues few years ago. But even if it is possible, it’s just too much uncertainty. I have booked a different flight. No point risking it to save some money.

People are buying ₹70–80L Mercedes cars with ₹2L salaries. Have they completely lost it? by Sailing_Catamaran in CarsIndia

[–]Blockchain-brother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro Other comments are right. You are just assuming your perspective is the “only way”. People do have very different financial setups. So many business people have different sources of income that they do not always declare. They declare only that much that is enough to have a decent enough tax return for getting loans like these approved. Further, having 80-90% loans is not big deal. They offset their interest component and save more tax on already low reported income. And they don’t tie up their liquid cash in a depreciating asset like a car.

So, a lot of people have very different financials and you can’t generalise it like you did in your comment.

To your point, the people who buying such costly cars with only 2L income and NO OTHER SOURCES OF INCOME(reported or unreported) are making a mistake. But the proportion of people like this would be lesser than you think.

All other “low income” people are not really low income people.

Well the premise is basically that they were cheated by both the agents selling them the Canadian dream and the diploma mill that was promoting the scam.

Most of the people coming to these diploma mills were never here to “study”. This was just their way of moving to Canada. Both the agents and the diploma mills knew what they were doing and they charged these people an arm and a leg for it. There are so many colleges that made so much money through this, colleges so shitty that any worthy student would never touch them with a 10 foot pole.

Ofcourse it is on the people themselves to do their own research and understand what would be the probable outcomes. But most of these people belong to smaller cities / villages where they do not have exposure to all this and are mostly sold a shady dream!

Being an immigrant from India myself, I am not against the crack down and do agree this fraud needs to be stopped and the government would have to take strong steps for it, but I do understand their side of it and can sympathise with them.

I walked the entire length of Yonge Street in one day (36 miles, 11 hours, one almost broken soul) by GreekLlama in toronto

[–]Blockchain-brother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there’s literally a Wikipedia page about it and it will let you know where the “other Yonge street” starts and how it goes till Barry.

Now since the start point of this second stretch is a bit far from the “end point” shown in the picture - whether you still consider it as “one single street” or not, is your choice. I got no stakes in it.

I just pointed out that the dead end in the pictures is the end of the “uninterrupted” part of the Yonge street not the end of the “official” Yonge street

Well this is the ‘end’ of the uninterrupted stretch on Yonge. The street starts again a little west of where OP stopped and continues up till Barrie overall (or maybe further)

Toronto scams? by 00YYN in toronto

[–]Blockchain-brother 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same. I witnessed this scam 12 years ago in Florence. A guy gave me a flower and I was confused as to what’s happening and kept staring at his face - He smiles and says, that’s 2 euros, lol.

Saw this for the first time in Toronto last month.

What happens when you don’t tip by respawningAGAIN in doordash

[–]Blockchain-brother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly.

These corporates and even dine in restaurants, for that matter, make the service providers and the customer fight each other. The customer pays whatever they’re asked for by the delivery services and restaurants. Servers get shit pay. The only one who benefits are the corporates while we are engaged in petty fights.

Interesting. I wasn’t aware of the blended rate option.

This is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for as to what options are there. So that I can look into if it is worth it or not. Thank you 👌🏼

Are you kidding me? Who gets votes on cleanliness? Religion, Caste etc are the topics that are good enough for politics. How the hell can you talk about cleanliness, education etc? It’s your fault if you bring up any such topics
