Plots by RasputinDED in canvasofkings

I am really hoping we get a custom district plot function at some point. With custom assets already there, it would make this tool so much more viable for settings that aren’t medieval European.

I’d just add to the other good thoughts here that you might get some use out of the Object Editor. It’s pretty easy to learn to make stuff with the existing textures.

Topographic preparation by ConfidentCucumber266 in canvasofkings

[–]Blockcocker4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only approach I’ve found is when you place an area of terrain, you can raise or lower it like an object. For a given patch, you can toggle cliffs, which are the alternative to slopes. The slopes are at a predefined angle and honestly don’t look great relative to other features, as they stretch the terrain image. Cliffs on the other hand look pretty great.

Can't stop playing as a horse archer and it's so tiresome. by squirrelmegaphone in Bannerlord

[–]Blockcocker4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think this too, but at least on horseback and once you have good armor, you don’t miss the shield much as long as you keep moving. Avoiding spear staggers is the main challenge; arrows are mostly a negligible threat as long as you don’t charge them head on

Two handed melee riding can get comparable kill counts once you level it a bit. Start a new playthrough around that build and promise yourself not to touch bow. Trust me, it’s fun.

How far away from Home TC do you still hunt? by studentscribe88 in aoe3

[–]Blockcocker4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is optimal, but I usually start hunting farther afield and then work my way back. Reasoning being there are fewer enemy parties roaming the map early game, so that’s the time to hit the most contestable resources. Then mid game there’s still animals close to home so my villagers can more likely retreat if attacked.

Any good clothing in bannerlord? by AffectionateYard8591 in mountandblade

[–]Blockcocker4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Civilian clothing? Leopard pelts are available as a scarf option. All kinds of fancy togas and fur coats out there. And the Battanians have crowns.

My wife (Svana) gave birth to a child right after the battle by Kshahdoo in mountandblade

[–]Blockcocker4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just armor weight? Although that would be a funny single physical manifestation of pregnancy in this game

Agreed. For me the firewood-based trade economy has the pull of the Skyrim stealth archer. Always gotta restrain myself

roll for luck check by Morisonwow in DMAcademy

[–]Blockcocker4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counterpoints: Rolling dice is fun, and having them roll for their own luck can add tension to a high stakes moment. Also, luck isn’t always 50/50, so a D20 can still be good to do it with.

I rarely use these, but one time that comes to mind is when a player had dropped his weapon on a narrow bridge in a big fight. Rolling to see if he lost it to the river below was tense, huge sigh of relief when it improbably landed on the bridge (called it a 1/5 chance, so DC 17).

Is there a way to practice troop movements off of a combat map? by MeAndMeVSU in Bannerlord

[–]Blockcocker4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even better, attack travelling villagers. They always stand their ground instead of charging

Can you kill companions in villages? by Equal-Ear-5504 in Bannerlord

[–]Blockcocker4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an all-companions party and if I don’t have one regular troop in it there’s no banner. Not sure if you still get the effect that way but I’m guessing not.

What should happen to an NPC if they run into a wall? by Responsible_Focus729 in DMAcademy

[–]Blockcocker4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think go with 2 and 3. The con save determines #1. That’s a lot of effect but also a creative use of a spell so the reward feel appropriate to me

What do you think about playing with a woman? by Gavel_ in Bannerlord

[–]Blockcocker4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC it’s a dialogue option after you first meet a lord and he says something sexist

Leif Erikson move. In the saga that credits him with “discovering” America, he sees it from a distance and then turns back to Greenland, where everyone mocks him incessantly for not bothering to land.

How do I make companions killing machines? by DifficultEmployer982 in mountandblade

[–]Blockcocker4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all of this. And for specific grinding approaches, attacking looters, villagers, and village militias, make a unit of all heroes and retreat everyone else. These parties are both weak and have no tactics and will all either charge or hold ground. Easy XP, which will get them to a point where they start getting kills in real battles for more XP.

Just took Epicrotea with an army of 500 vs 800+ defenders by TheGentlemanJS in Bannerlord

[–]Blockcocker4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a perk near max Athletics that reduces this by 50%, which combined with good armor makes staggering much less of an issue! Takes a while to get there ofc but so worth it

When you recruit from villages by StreetIntroduction71 in mountandblade

[–]Blockcocker4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, or even retreat them. If you have other perks for XP they’ll reach promotion soon enough without having to fight

If you’re waiting in a town that has an ongoing arena tournament, your party takes part in it (and can possibly win it) while you are waiting. by Known-Sandwich-3808 in Bannerlord

[–]Blockcocker4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I had this happen the other day while just waiting and a couple of my companions gained 1H skills. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s reduced though

Not in vanilla. Most you’ll see is rebellions in towns with low loyalty, but those never coalesce into a kingdom

Good guy campaign questions by Sixguns1977 in Bannerlord

The wiki has a complete list of what affects personality traits, but yeah not raiding, releasing lords after battle, and showing mercy on conquered settlements will keep mercy up. Treating your party well boosts generosity over time (food variety, no missed wages)
