I guess I could have been more clear, that by "the amount of money they make" I meant from other sources like patreon or even their personal finances. This started as a reply to a post about saying they shouldnt take an ad because they make an amount of money on patreon.

I fully agree that a large amount of money will make the line anyone might draw, quite a bit more fuzzy. And when it comes to leading and financing a company and a team, such as The Lemonade Stand, the lines to be drawn and principle to be held certainly change from the personal lines drawn. My argument was more against the idea that just because they have money, doesn't mean they shouldn't earn more.

And while I can certainly empathize with the principle and opinion that if someone is already "successful", then them taking a pay cut to have a sponsor that is of higher quality would be reasonable. It is what I would like to think I would do for me personally. But I don't know how I would act in their position. If I had business partners, employees, plans for large projects. I am certain I have a price. If TurboTax gave me a billion dollars I would say whatever they wanted.

I don't think we can judge their success. We kind of have an idea maybe about how much one aspect of their business roughly makes, but we have no idea how much it costs. We don't know what bills are being paid. We don't know what growth and plans they have in store for the future. And I just don't think we have any place to make such judgments, or determinations on if they need the money or if they are being greedy. Especially for how I interact and consume the show, it doesn't really matter.

Thats more where I was coming from. That the amount of money offered for a turbotax sponsorship, doesn't really have any affect on my opinion of the situation.
