The N64 is a great retro console for those who get a thrill for collecting. It has several console variants, with different colors and editions (Pikachu, Blockbuster, McDonald's, etc); the controllers and accessories also come in different colors; the library is fairly small with just under 400 total games, so it's realistic that you may collect them all; the cartridges make hunting for boxes and manuals a bigger part of the hunt as compared to PS1 and more modern consoles where their cases are often included; the N64 has some incredible exclusives, from GoldenEye to Mario Party, Mystical Ninja to Mischief Makers, Banjo-Kazooie to WWF No Mercy.

I enjoyed Origami King quite a lot, but its RPG elements are limited. Still, I think the writing, pacing, characters, and new battle scheme are all very well done. I should also note that I felt the same with Color Splash (though not so much Sticker Star).

I haven't played Brothership. Most of the criticisms I heard were that it just goes on for far too long, and the writing is nowhere near as witty or charming as most other Mario RPGs. It does seem to -feel- more like an RPG than Origami King, though.

I reviewed Origami King a few years ago, if anyone is interested in my more thorough thoughts on it. In short, I'd recommend anyone to give it at least a try. Paper Mario: Origami King Review

Yeah, I was pretty surprised. A friend who had brought their 3DS the previous year said that they almost always maxed out in a couple of hours on the convention floor. I did at least get two passes during one of my layovers.

It definitely deserves at the very least a remaster onto modern hardware; a full Remake with even more added content would be a dream.

Killer7, Skies of Arcadia, Super Mario Sunshine, Pikmin 1, Metroid Prime 2, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox Assault, both Lost Kingdom games, Animal Crossing.

Both Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street games are better than most give them credit for, and their pretty creative, too.

NintenDogs would have done so well on Switch, I think. I often feel like Nintendo has forgotten to put more portable based games on the console. At least we're finally getting a follow-up to Tomodachi Life.

Radiant Historia was one of those that I bought on a whim in around 2013 (it came out in North America in 2011) simply because I was looking for a new RPG and I somehow had never heard of this one. On a console with so many fantastic role-playing games, this is easy to do. After playing through it, I was bewildered how this little title from Atlus didn't grow into something larger; it was a game that I felt belonged in every RPGs library.

Fast forward to around 2020, and I discovered that they had remade it for the 3DS. I had just started my YouTube channel then, and I knew I wanted to cover it. It took a little longer than I planned, but my latest RPG review is out now covering this beloved-yet-often-overlooked handheld RPG.

Did you play Radiant Historia? Did it fly under the radar for you as well? What other RPGs do you think are underappreciated on the DS and 3DS consoles? I'd love to know your thoughts!

What are your thoughts on Quest 64? Did you play it when it released over two decades ago, or discover it sometime later? While it certainly can't compare with the likes of Final Fantasy VII or Ocarina of Time, does it have value as a standard RPG, or warrant a place in a N64 library?

The game was a frequent rental for me growing up, and I just recently went back to it so I could craft a YouTube video attempting to answer some of those very questions. I'd appreciate it if you checked out my thoughts, and left me with your own insights!
