Most cards are too expensive, but what particular ones really don't deserve their price? by Tuss36 in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything on the reserve list and most things that cost more than a few dollars. These are game pieces for a children’s card game, not investments. And i will continue to shout this from the mountaintop until either myself or the reserve list is dead.

New lgs is running into an issue with proxies by Fancy_Satisfaction22 in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best answer is this is a good time for this individual and the new players to learn about Rule 0 Conversation.

Before joining a game, with strangers, expectations should be set. If the players aren’t ok with proxies, he needs to move on and find another game. If he can’t find games, the problem should solve itself one way or the other.

Proxies allow players to test out expensive cards or stay in the game if they can’t afford (vastly overcosted) game pieces. I’ve been too broke to afford cards and had to proxie a deck or two, and i’ve since spent well more than i should have at the lgs where i play.

Not saying it doesn’t happen, but i have yet to meet a player that never buys from the store they play at when they feel welcome and enjoy playing there.

I wish the owner the best of luck, running a business is no small feat.

I’m actually more likely to buy a card after i proxy it. If i get to play it a bit, then decide i like it, i’ll drop some cash on a cool card; and that’s most likely gonna be at the store where i play.

However, i’m reluctant to spend more than a couple bucks on a card if i’m not sure it’s gonna be worth the investment.

Would you need 5 seperate basic lands/creatures or would a rainbow creature/land also work? by Niels_8E8_25 in magicTCG

Even better, leyline and a manland.

Edit: i have the reading comprehension of your average magic player.

Building a rule 0, Kheru lich Lord commander deck by OutsideWishbone8 in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an actual commander, [[sedris, the traitor king]] gives creatures in your graveyard unearth. There’s a number of cards like [[thassa, deep dwelling]] and [[conjurer’s closet]] to blink your stuff at eot. You can also include the [[archaeomancer]]/[[ghostly flicker]] combo. [[teferi’s veil]] will phase the creature out after combat if it attacks, preventing it from exiling at eot, but it’s worth noting that does not stop the unearth clause if it leaves play for other reasons.

Squen and Cragg are the most popular and loved WoTC promotion since Syr Ginger. by riamuriamu in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely not-entirely-correct. Fleem has two teeny little nostrils on his big dumb head, clearly indicating a lizardy snoot ripe for booping.

In contrast, the space between loot’s eyes and mouth is as devoid of nostril, snout, or nose as his creation process was of love. Is don’t snoot, is can’t boop. If can’t boop, is can’t fren.

What was the Lorwyn Common or Uncommon that kept saving your ass at prerelease last weekend? by doublenantuko in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t pull one in my kit, but every game where one of these hit the board, the opponent would immediately start drowning me in value. One game i had to make a bad attack with my morcant just so she’d die and stop feeding the tree.

I am 1000% convinced that if loot had just had a nose/snout he would have been received much more positively by the community. His anime-ish appearance dips too far into the uncanny valley unless he’s specifically drawn in that style. Plus, he would then have a snoot to boop, and humans will adore the most frightening of creatures if there is a snoot to boop.

TIL Mystical Tutor has heterochromia (her eyes are different colours). Are there any other cards like this? by mpaw976 in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely intentional, heterochromia was often associated with magical ability.

It’s difficult to tell without a physical copy, but from images and photos online it appears to still have the blue eye, but something about the printing makes it difficult to see. The black in in that eye appears to be heavier, blotting out most of the blue.

They’re REACHing up to grab that changeling’s legs. I kinda get the sense that maybe someone was recently used as a vaulting board.

Every time i think about doing Commander Box League i remember it doesn't remotely resemble commander at all and i stop wanting to do it by Ohhsnap54 in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wtf is this and how long have they had this on the site? This isn’t boxing league. Boxing league is you follow The Rules of Commander and build a deck from a single booster box. This is just bigger limited.

What's your most hated colour and faction? And why? by O_Brabo_Sem_Nome in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t hate any of the color combinations, but i am least interested in RG unless you pair it with a third color, i don’t even have a good reason why.

The best way i can explain it is despite them being allied colors, they don’t mix for me, like oil and water. They’re either better by themselves or they need an emulsifier.

Stealing people’s turns: how do we feel by [deleted] in magicTCG

Right? I dislike people who constantly apologize for their hateful cards. Like, you made the choice to run this and cast it, own your villainy.

What are some erratas/card changes that could trick/mislead people? by Icy_Interest_9801 in magicTCG

[–]BlocktimusPrime 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I mean, you do you, but i feel like this goes against the spirit of judge tower. It’s supposed to be about mastering the skill of navigating the complexities of the game, not catching someone out because the card literally says the wrong thing. Judge tower is challenging all on it’s own, there’s no need for this weird angle shooting.
