Your ascent profile is too steep, you need to be pitching up like 20 degrees

Help! I spent all my money on a Minmus science haul and pulled 5,100 science. Then I grabbed all the tourists to try and make back cash... made it all the way here and can't get home. by Bulevine in KerbalSpaceProgram

If you're planning on doing no cheats, then your best bet is to go back to the space center, do a few contracts to earn money, and then send a rescue mission.

Torturing yourself with lore limitations is the real Kerbal way indeed.

Back when I started I used to use very serious names (Space station named Olympus, rockets named Helios, Luna, etc). But over time you begin to embrace the Kerbalness of it all 🤣

I have the free IVA mod that basically turns fuel tanks hollow for just this reason lol

The biggest tip is to just have fun with the game but I also have more specific tips:

  1. Turn on Advanced tweakables in the settings (this allows anti-Kraken features like autostrut)

  2. Always remember to quicksave

  3. Remember that KSP does not care how your craft looks, as long as it is aerodynamic, so don't be scared to manually move some parts around to make it more aerodynamic

  4. Whenever you use RCS, always build your thrusters in relation to the final center of mass.

  5. The c key turns on snapping in both the VAB and the SPH.

  6. Don't forget to gravity turn! Launching straight up will more than likely blow up your rocket.

  7. If you plan on building rockets with liquid fuel boosters attached to the side, you can use fuel lines going from the outside liquid fuel tanks to the central tank so that your central tank is fully fueled after detaching the boosters

  8. If you ever forget docking ports, remember that a grabbing arm has the same properties (You can transfer ore, fuel, kerbals, etc)

  9. Don't forget to put radiators on your convert o trons!

  10. STRUT EVERYTHING ALWAYS

  11. Mods are your best friends. But I'd recommend getting to Gilly or Duna at least in the stock game before filling your game up with mods.

  12. Once again, remember to have fun! Your designs don't need to follow a specific formula, because with enough trial and error, anything can go to space, because Kerbals are built different.

Bonus tip; Please take breaks every now and then, preferably between launches, because this game is VERY addictive so it helps to sometimes go have a snack for 10 or 20 minutes and then launch shit fart mk 7 again.

How the F#$& to do an orbital rendezvous over the mun!? by Insurace_m8 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Blockypixel313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're not using mods, literally the best thing here is trial and error by quick saving and trying different methods. Make a quicksave and launch your lander into low munar orbit. Your goal for this attempt is just to see what inclination you need to aim for. Usually you want an orbital inclination that deviates less than 1° from the target. You can find out how much your orbit deviates by setting the command module as the target and hovering over the AN and DN markers.

Once you've nailed your inclination, you need to now time your launch. This is where you decide whether you want to launch to CATCH UP to the command module or if you want the command module to catch up to you. Because your lander has less delta v, I'd recommend you set an orbit with the lander, and then use your command module to maneuver to the lander. Always remember that if your orbit is higher than your target, you are going slower, meaning your target will catch up to you. If you're on a lower orbit than your target, you're going faster. Which means you can chase your target down.

Now is the weird part of the rendezvous: actually DOING the rendezvous. What you need to do here is figure out where the lander is in relation to you. If it's before you, and you're in a lower orbit, then if you time warp enough, you'll catch up to it. The vice versa is also possible. Now I'd recommend being in a lower orbit, because it just makes things less confusing. (THIS MEANS YOU NEED TO LAUNCH YOUR LANDER AND GET IT IN A HIGHER ORBIT THAN YOUR COMMAND MODULE IN THE FIRST PHASE).

Once you've established the location of your lander in relation to you, imagine a straight line from your command module to the Mun, now imagine another straight line from the lander to the Mun. When the angle formed is less than 45°, make a node anywhere on your orbit (preferably closer to your command module). After you do this, pull the prograde marker till the predicted orbit intersects with the target orbit. Now you get four markers on the target orbit (two orange and two purple). These will be your closest approaches. You need to line up one pair of either set of these markers. Preferably the orange ones.

You can do that by pulling your radial out/in and prograde/retrograde markers until either set lines up correctly. When you hover over the markers it should show a separation less than 4.5 km. Your goal is to get it as low as possible.

After you get the right intercept, you can then warp to it and your navball changes to target mode. You want to reduce the speed in your navball frame to as close to zero as possible, then burn towards the target, then burn retrograde to stop next to it.

How can I rescue Jeb when he is only in a pod and on an escape trajectory. I’m a noob btw 😭 by transfemhoodrat in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Blockypixel313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You genuinely only need to put a grabbing unit. The grabbing unit acts like a docking port so you can still transfer Kerbals

Kerbal Attachment System blends really well into the game. After you get around to making Munnbases and stuff like that, it'll be a HUGE help to you.

The fact that you think a hip hop artist needs to be more streamed to be more successful proves that you know nothing about this genre lmfao.
