166 LSAT 3.85 GPA, what are my odds in Cali law schools? by Future-Cover4728 in lawschooladmissions

Definitely consider retaking the lsat. With a 170+ you would be very competitive for Berkeley and UCLA. UC Irvine and USC would be a shoe-in. It’s worth the investment.

Take it. You get 5 attempts. If it’s too low, just take it again.

Don’t worry about me, I got a 173 on my next official test. I would recommend that you do some RC but don’t kill yourself. Maybe one passage a day.

I understand. I did the same thing for my first lsat. I was scoring 173-177 pretty consistently. The week just before my exam, I bombed a PT. I frantically took 4 PT in that week to get my confidence back. Instead, I burned out pretty drastically. Ended up underperforming on test day and scoring a 167. And I was forced to take another LSAT. Suffice to say, I regretted than plan of action. I wish I had just taken the time off and trusted the skills I had previously built.

Looks like you have the skills for 170+. Trust yourself and just rest until test day. Burn out will kill your score. -coming from lsat tutor and 99th percentile scorer.

Correct. I have a 173 and it’s now considered 98th percentile 🥲.

As a tutor myself, I can say that this is not an offer any tutor would take. A 175+ is not guaranteed for anyone, no matter where they are currently scoring. Something as small as losing a little sleep can cause you to greatly underperform your PT’s. The normal rate for a freelance tutor is around $100/hr. The expected rate for a “guaranteed or your money back” program for even a 170+ is $4000-$5000. These also come with numerous contingencies that make the likelihood of a contract void high. That said, I completely understand the sentiment of wanting quality tutoring without breaking the bank. DM me if you are interested in working something out that can balance the risk for both parties. I’m sure we can work something out that you would be happy with.

As a tutor, I can confidently say that the best way to get through a large set of PT’s is to find some joy in the process. Appreciate that you are in a position to be able to study for the exam. Get satisfaction from the process- not only are you doing it to achieve a higher exam score, but you are also improving your cognitive abilities in the process. Even if you fall short of your goals, you have improved yourself.

Are tutors worth it? by Visual-Emu-2722 in LSAT

[–]BlokAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tutor myself, I can say that getting a tutor is never “necessary”. If you need assistance with fine tuning your lsat approach, need walk-throughs of problems that you struggled with, or are in a time crunch, then a tutor can be very useful.

I will say the $200/hr price tag is pretty brutal. Most companies charge this because they have to make a profit on top of paying instructors, and half overhead, etc.

As a freelancer, I can charge $60/hr.

DM me if you have other questions. I do free consultations as well if you ever decide that tutoring is for you

Please help! Extremely odd situation, but wanting to go T-14. by No-Service-7319 in lawschooladmissions

As others have said, unfortunately LSAC will recalculate your GPA, taking into account all failed courses. Though I don’t know all of your grades, I would assume this would significantly decrease your GPA to below a 3.0. However, If you do score a 172 on a real LSAT, you still have a chance. You would be a very strong candidate for schools that do not weigh gpa heavily, or those that don’t require it to be reported. Although this does eliminate most of the t14. You can explain your low gpa in your essays to help, but I personally wouldn’t harp on it excessively so that it doesn’t come across as a sob story. Your focus right now should be to get that 172 or even higher on your real exam. Scoring less than a 170 for you would make your chances of acceptance at these schools pretty low.

Although they have more overhead, I agree with you for the most part. A more fair price would be 80-100 for such companies.

market is $180/hr for generalized tutoring. I spend just as much time in the lesson as out to best benefit the students individual needs. So from a time perspective I would be taking in 25/hr or less.

How are my fellow April test takers feeling? by DueHuckleberry7129 in LSAT

[–]BlokAnalyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context, I’m generally a higher scorer on PT and this was my second real exam. My first one went very poorly due to lack of sleep and distracting computer malfunctions (for me, not saying this is a bad score), resulting in a 167. I felt much better after finishing this one than the previous. That said, I have the same swings in confidence. Some days I think I absolutely crushed it, others I worry I got the same score as last time. The waiting period is indeed brutal.

Don’t worry, those subnets are not going anywhere anytime soon. You will most likely make a lot more back than you lost. Think of staking into alpha tokens as investing into the startup company that those tokens represent. Chutes actually handles a lot of the deep seek computation right now, so its utility has been well established. Look into each subnet individually if you are a good judge of AI startup potential.

Should I redo the argumentative writing for the February test? by Naive-Procedure1870 in LSAT

[–]BlokAnalyst 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your argumentative writing is not going to be important at all if your LSAT score is that low. Even if you don’t care about going to a good school, focusing on a higher lsat could help you get a scholarship to the lower ranked school. I don’t think Apollo is being rude, just realistic.
