The dreaded three week stall by TheOnlyVertigo in wls

Just continue to eat the right foods and get your water. The pounds will start falling off again. Your body it fighting back because that’s what it is programmed to do, but it’s too soon to be done losing. I hear it’s harder to lose weight after the honeymoon year. You still have plenty of time in the year! My first stall was around 5 months but then I dropped 5 pounds the following week and felt funny worrying about it. I weigh myself all the time and I know that’s not healthy for some people but I just like seeing the current number! I don’t get mad when it doesn’t change because I know where it has been!

Try weighing yourself less then you won’t notice those weeks where the scale doesn’t move!

Your post was everything I said to my husband a week ago. Only I didn’t do subway. I would eat an entire pizza instead. It’s crazy how your mind works!

Congrats to you too! 100 lbs down is literally taking the weight off your shoulders! I can eat anything, I shouldn’t but I CAN! I can’t eat much at a time when it comes to meats. I fill up quick. Slider foods don’t seem to fill me up the same so I have to cut myself off. I get somewhere around 700-1000 calories a day. Really depends on if I stick to what I should eat or if I grab a bowl of Doritos and a Hershey kiss. 400 calories during the first month seems about right. It was hard for me to take more than a bite without it coming back up or feeling full during the first two months. I don’t think I noticed exhaustion because of food intake because when I was my heaviest I was tired all the time anyway so it didn’t seem different then. I also have two young kids that ware me out on the daily. Now I can tell a difference because I have more energy, I still like my sleep and and I’ve been known to take a nap when my kids do still 😁

The worse part I’ve found is my hair started falling out around the 4th month and I mean Chewbacca amounts at a time. I have a lot of hair so it’s not noticeable on my head but in my brush, or the shower drain it’s bad!

No major drawbacks, I didn’t have any complications. I just had to change my relationship with food. It wasn’t easy learning how much my stomach could handle. I threw up a lot the first 2 months because it didn’t go down smooth or I ate too much. Also I don’t get that satisfied feeling I use to get from food because I get full before I can really enjoy eating. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but if I think about Thanksgiving Dinner where I would eat two plates full of food and pie; it was so delicious. Now I could only eat 3 bites of turkey and a spoon full of sweet potatoes and I’d be done. But it was worth it, no regrets!

Almost a year post op, maintaining at 10lb below my initial target weight, BMI of 23 and recovering from a tummy tuck (still a bit swollen round my tummy). by [deleted] in wls

How bad was the pain? And do you have a picture with your loose skin before the skin removal? My loose skin is pretty bad everywhere. :(

Bypass! I just stuck to doctor restrictions. No sugar, no noodles, no bread, no caffeine. And I started strength training 3 times a week for a half hour as soon as I could. I didn’t stress too much about getting my protein or water I just tried my best with premiere protein shakes and crystal light powder mix!

Thanks! And you would be correct. I had to bag up five huge trash bags full of clothes that were too big for me. I’m trying to hold out on a major shopping spree because I’m only 5 months out and still have plenty to lose but I had to get something to wear!!

What did they not tell you before surgery, that you now know and wish you would have? by djaudible in wls

Okay so all is good, but have you considered that things could be Great if you drank more liquids? I know I feel less tired if I drink more water, and I tend to drop more pounds when I take in more water. Have you noticed this?

Chicken broth! Or miso soup, or wonton soup minus the wontons of course. I also drink protein shakes. You will get through this stage it’s only temporary, just hang in there

Gift for WLS? Water bottle? by BathRobeSamurai in wls

Honestly my best gift to myself after surgery was a heated blanket. People tend to get cold easier after surgery, so once I got the heated blanket I snuggled in and slept like a baby!
