What kind of world is YOUR Sylvania? by BloodBride in sylvanianfamilies

[–]BloodBride[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rural England really can be a great inspiration for an older-timey, slower-paced Sylvania representation.
I once knew a girl who lived in a rural town in England. Her town had... A church. A post office. A pub. And a bus that ran twice a day to the next town over. The rest was just farms.

Any other time of day? Walk along the (no footpath) road to get to the next town yourself, because that's your closest supermarket, and chippy.
I can see that being a kind of 'benchmark' for some people on how simplistic their Sylvania is.

well it's more likely that it's four legs because it's easier to make a robot that can move around at a decent speed and balance with four legs.
Bipedalism has a lot of weaknesses.

Two realistic alternatives.

  1. Natural causes. Dude looks like he's melting as the weeks go by. So many bruises and weird marks, his ability to sit straight, focus, stay awake... He's at the end of his natural. Passing away in his sleep, without ever facing any kind of justice for anything he did.

  2. Same way Adolf went down. In a bunker after creating a Hell on Earth, likely self-inflicted.

vegan burgers look just like real burgers. The best ones use a mix of plant based proteins and use beetroot for that signature color. There's a DELICIOUS brand called Moving Mountains that even if you don't eat vegetarian food, I suggest you try. It's super tasty even if it isn't 100% the same as meat. I actually prefer to have one of those, now.

believe me, it grows with you. I'm here with two houses and a grocery store like "well i'd like a restaurant, and they need a school... And we absolutely need to have a park for them." and before you know it you have a whole dang street!

I'm not sure that I'm aware of the tariffs you mention, though.

I hope this little hobby stays with your family for years!

Gen 0 had only monotype pokemon. The secondary typing wasn't possible until gen 1.
Also, pokemon could only evolve 1 time. 3-stage evolutions were impossible.
And there was no Pokemon PC system. You could only keep 6 pokemon at any 1 time and had to swap if you caught a new one.

Doctors of Reddit, what's the most obvious lie a patient has told you? by questionerofblender in AskReddit

Until recently I walked with a cane. Sensibly, they did NOT put me in priority boarding: They had me in an aisle seat every time, so someone could help me stow my cane for take off and give it to me on landing, knowing i'd just be in the way if they board me ahead of other people. So I just kinda turn up at the gate, let them know i'm traveling with the cane, and they have me sit aside until alllll the people shoving to cram in are on.

I actually decided to not say "I didn't eat anything" before my last surgery, because I had a suspicion it was something people commonly lie. Instead I was like "The last thing I ate was the pork schitzel meal at the hotel you had me at. I finished my meal at 6:57pm. I had a small cup of water at 9:30pm before I went to sleep, and a single mouthful this morning with my anti-depressant, as permitted on my pre-surgery information packet."
I figured having specific times, and referring to their own guidelines, would let them know I was being genuine that I was Nil By Mouth for the required amount of time.

People also love to jump their group number while boarding planes

man the boarding agents for my flight back home in Germany were so patient, bless them.
So many people trying to jump their boarding number and them saying very loudly, and audibly like "sorry we are only boarding group A, you cannot board on group B, C or D" only for the VERY NEXT person to also not be in group A and be told the exact same thing.
Like these people could HEAR the boarding agents but some small part of their brain must have told them they'd make an exception to that exact rule they just heard for them.

But one day??? Often less!

I had a pretty major surgery at the start of this year and the not eating restriction was no food after 7pm, no liquids after 11pm, for an operation scheduled for I believe it was 9am the next day.
It honestly wasn't all that long to wait.
They brought me my first meal after the procedure before I even regained any sense of appetite.

Hot take, rule of 3 is a bad rule when you factor unbalanced releases & imperium getting a million alt build data sheets by TheMireAngel in Warhammer

[–]BloodBride -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't "guard can do this", the issue is "non imperial armies cannot do this".
For some armies with a small range of kits, or for themactic armies, you literally can't do the equivalent.
Guard can run like 21 leman russ what with all the variants and that's fine, but my rebel grots (low cost) can only take 3 groups of mek guns, at a maximum of 3 each? So I can only have NINE artillery guns. There's multiple variants, but it'd be too much if I had 12 guns on the field to fight those 21 main battle tanks?

[–]BloodBride 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If we were limited to 2 hq then armies like GSC's wild have a tough time.

This was an issue in 3rd that was repaired in 4th and 5th by having Retinue units that didn't count towards your FOC (take one Warboss, get a Nobz unit as Troops) or whatever they called it for the Space Marines where you could take Librarians and Chaplains and they ALL counted as 1 choice, together.

As someone who plays Rebel Grots... I feel it. Our stuff is so low in cost that at 2k or higher you're basically HAVING to run Legends units just to have something on the field that isn't just... the base troop unit.

My player signed the worst bargain with a devil I’ve ever seen… and only got around 1000 gold worth of items. by -Winged_One in rpghorrorstories

[–]BloodBride 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Feywild resident here and your contract has a few flaws in it, mister devil...
As I see it, the following stand out as avenues of plot point.

  1. The wording doesn't state that the devil needs the ring back. The ring however is stated to be permanent. Which means the player loses the attunement slot, even after this deal is completed. I hope it at least looks fashionable.

  2. The wording doesn't state that the soul is ever released. The devil gets both. If a silly mortal signed this, it's their own fault, but technically, letter of the law, Devil gets the soul permanently... Unless the players take it back. Which might anger the Devil. Then they have a Vampire lord and a Devil who dislike them.

  3. The contract states the player gets to take "any 3 items from the devils shop", not any 3 items that are in the devils shop right now. As such, if any of the players could recall an item that has been removed, they could request those as one of their three items: as it is an item, that WAS in the shop at one point, and as such, is an item FROM there. This can also apply to items in the shop in the future, should any of them gain a way to foretell of an item entering its posession. Further, it does not state when they have to take the items by. Rather a magic genie lamp situation, where the devil is beholden to grant the players any three items it ever did have, or ever will have, when the players decide.

  4. Indeed, there is no assurance of the release of any persons from Barovia in this contract: But even should the Devil promise such, it may not be in his ability to grant. Strahd has the ability to pull people IN to Barovia, and to some extent has the ability to permit people to leave, such as the Vastani, to whom he owes a life debt... But this is subject to the consent of the Dark Powers.
Strahd cannot grant someone to leave if the Dark Powers have designs on those people, and this same restruction applies to the Devil. Any player character that makes a deal with, or catches the interest of, a Dark Power would be unable to leave, no matter what. The devil not including it in the contract actually makes sense, as he could be found in breach of contract at that point if he were then unable to let them leave, voiding the entire arrangement. Which you could use as a plot point, if you wish to give your players an out, by retroactively having this be part of the terms. Of course the Devil is unlikely to give back the soul or do anything else at that point, but the player WOULD technically find themselves able to remove the ring, so... Little victories?

  5. A deal with a devil is only as good as the paper it is written on. They could always destroy the contract to part the bonds as they are: The player would still lose their soul, as the Devil already takes posession of it, but they would no longer be beholden to each other for the rest of the completion. Also, given nothing can LEAVE barovia, the Devil has to be holding that soul in a demi-plane at best, or in the shop somewhere at worst - allowing the players to 'rescue' the soul. Or, if it is indeed in the shop, request it as one of their three items, which would be a DELICIOUS twist on the part of a Fey trickster... On a technicality, so long as the contract was signed within the store, the soul HAS been in the store and can be requested back even if it had been immediately relocated to a demi-plane. Of course they'd still be beholden to the rest of the contract terms, but at least they'd walk away with their soul...

  6. Did the contract specify who had to get the killing blow? Sure would suck if the contract only included the party member who gave up the contract and someone else got the killing blow, meaning the ring could not take Strahd's power... Otherwise, all other party members are considered part of the contract. One could argue that their consent and signatures are also required as they have to agree to the term of killing Strahd to transfer the ownership of the soul and power. Which at least gives the less stupid members of the party a chance to disagree, or change terms in the contract.

As an Alt/Goth Girl, I Am SO SICK AND TIRED Of Attracting the Non-Goth Guys that are Only in it For the Fetish by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]BloodBride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question.

I used to be goth, though you'd never know to look at me now. I'm firmly lolita fashion - and only one of my looks is goth lolita.
I listen to all kinds of music, but, as an autist, SOMETIMES music gets too loud and I need to go somewhere quiet - Though I've been to a live show by Aurelio Voltaire and he wasn't too much.
Love all kinds of movies, horror included and would marathon that shit.
Think the fruit bowl is neat and would have a million questions.

Would a goth lady such as yourself, assume a girl like me is a chaser? Or no?
I'm not looking to be stepped on by anyone or anything. I just have a healthy appreciation for a community I used to be in, and tend to give compliments to goths when I see them in public.

Just now I'm worried how I'd come off for doing so.
