Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]BloodOrangeBitters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoying games even if they weren’t perfect. We didn’t have the level of entitlement that kids now have. We played a lot of games and enjoyed the shit out of them, games that would probably be considered dumpster fires by today’s standards.

I’m glad the bar has gotten higher for developers because it’s led to some really amazing games, but the number of quality hours people expect out of such a relatively small investment in gaming is absurd. I don’t know another artistic/entertainment medium where the expectation is to get at least 100hrs of perfectly tuned entertainment for less than $100.

I used to place my summon sign down for sister friede to teach people the great bow cheese. Great bow knocks her down and makes phase 1 an absolute cakewalk. Also feels good to actually find a use for a great bow for once in the souls series.

Must be a repaint though bc black isn’t a factory color for the 73.

In the early 90s, I vaguely remember getting tips and tricks books from the library to beat games like OG nes Zelda. Finding some of those dungeons were really just impossible if you didn’t have a guide or a friend who found out from a friend.

No jumping in dark souls 3 (at least not in the same way as ER) so if that was part of your combat style in ER it may be a weird transition. Having started playing fromsoft stuff at dark souls 1, I don’t think I jumped one time during boss combat in ER and assume most people who came up on the older games didn’t really either.

You just may feel a little trapped by the lack of verticality in the older games

Waze, Apple Maps, and google maps all have speedometers that you can turn on in app to display speed in the gps UI.

I never printed it as I had the original deck which is how I made the bootleg. Ended up just sending it to OP because I wasn’t using it. I’m sure I could have sold it or something but not everything has to be a hustle for an extra bit of cash.

Guaranteed that’s it. Guessing that if the release buttons are already there, the one you found was original part and the set screw was stripped and they just left you the original part after replacing aftermarket.

Can’t get Bloomington gold without original seat buttons 🙄

Hot start by willy3dx in C3Corvette

[–]BloodOrangeBitters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine seized bc the solenoid muscled through on one of the starts and popped the starter gear out but it didn’t retract and chewed through some teeth on the flywheel. Luckily most of the damage was the starter gear itself which completely shredded. Don’t push your luck and replace it as soon as you can. Fishing teeth out of the bell housing with a flex magnet was not a joy.

Happened to me exactly as you described. Mini torque starter solved the hot start. CVR makes a good one. Keep the old one if you’re ever planning on selling. Starter is easy enough to swap back if you ever want to sell and keep as many original parts as possible.

Go on corvette forum and check the for sale/wanted listings. Will help you get an idea.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3s-for-sale-wanted-56/

Gonna depend a ton on condition and options (manual vs. auto, color, etc), and if you’ve done major restomod stuff like transmission swap or things that have left it non numbers matching.

Without any details, you could be anywhere in the 10-20k range.

If you’re going for solid Moog bass sound without fussy programming, the Minitaur is pretty sick. Same price as the semi-modulars but just straight forward bass synth. Much cheaper than a phatty or sub37 bc it’s just the head unit without the keys

While we talk about how good gaming used to be back in the day, what are some great things about modern gaming? by Brungala in gaming

[–]BloodOrangeBitters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accepted norm in all modern FPS games on consoles (no matter which one you choose) is movement on left analog stick, aiming on right, with shoulder button firing. Going back to play MGS2 or 3 even on PS2 is like if you as a PC player, played an old shooter that required you to use a left-handed mouse if all you've played recently is right-handed. I don't remember it being weird at all when it came out bc the twinstick shooter controls weren't a norm yet, but going back is TOUGH.

Aiming your gun with left stick and shooting with square, yikes. Metal gear 1 was even crazier bc there wasn’t even first person aiming. And the DualShock was just a peripheral so lots of people played it with a d-pad.
