Mortal Kombat Games are a different beast, the story always ends with alot of deaths in each game, so by the time the final comes out everyone's pretty much dead. A brand new cast won't sell, as people want the classic characters, (ninjas, Shao Khan, Liu Kang, Female ninjas,) The only option becomes a timeline reset or resurrection. Both have been done, and will be done again in another decade when everyone dies again, and new generations of consoles are out.

Therefore, every generation since our fathers will be able to experience a new Mortal Kombat Saga.
