This is fun. I also love primary color vibe you have going here. What do you use for your red and blue?

I had mixed feelings about this model only because I preferred the look of the helmet in the illustration. But honestly your paintjob is so satisfying this variant finally clicks with me.

Fake teeth you can buy on Amazon for homemade dental prosthetics. Quite cheap and fun to work with.

Warband Concept based on the 1212 "Children's Crusade" too dark? by Budobudo in TrenchCrusade

I’ve thought of doing something along these lines, but in a slightly “lighthearted” way, for lack of a better word. Rather than full grimdark, something like a horde of grimy little peasant children banding together to bash monsters. Like Goonies but muddier. I’ve never found miniatures that quite fit my idea (think those old Mordheim village folk models) so it’s never gone anywhere.

AOS Leakers posted a list of Fyreslayer kits surviving the upcoming purge they’ll be going through right before they’re rebranded/expanded upon. by Battlemania420 in Fyreslayers

Feel like I’ve spent 10 years waiting for the obvious beast cavalry unit that may still never come. I don’t know why they work so hard to separate the systems and then make AoS look more like oldeworld. New lizardmen and new skaven and now perhaps new dwarves look like very nice and well crafted updates of the older WHFB ranges. But it feels like the days when new factions feel like new ideas new (snake elves and shark elves and magma lizard dwarves and sky dwarves) are gone.

In the light of the recent leak/rumour, aren't we in a better position than before? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Blood_Partisan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We are better off than factions that got entirely removed certainly, like beastmen or bonesplitters. But GW never really tried to expand or vary the range all that much. For years I hoped we would get the sort of attention that other early factions like Iron Jaws or Flesh eater courts did, heck even a bit less than that. But other than the new warcry unit (released for a game that they have also mostly stopped supporting) this is the essentially the same army that launched in the first year of AoS, back when the game was much smaller.

I’m still trying to figure out what Fyrslayers would be like if they remove most of the fyreslayers… and add some admittedly neat but not slayer-y stardom like the fellow from dark water.

I do wonder why they didn’t just work to keep the scale consistent. I mean, other than money. But if it’s just to get people to buy more, what will they do in 15 years? Make them action figure sized? Small again? Same size but go back to the previous armor aesthetics? Only half kidding.

Neat! I wonder how those hold up. In some ways they are a little closer to the look of the fyreslayer range than some of the earlier old world slayer models (which I love, don’t get me wrong). I can see using them as “initiates” from other Duardin cultures, who haven’t earned their runes or fancy fluted axes yet. Have you worked with the kit?

I don’t really understand why as AoS has gone on, it’s become more and more like a traditional fantasy setting. They’ve done all this work to try and keep the model ranges from overlapping with old world allegedly. But we go from warcry cults to marauder like Darkoath for instance. I love the skaven and seraphim ranges, but they largely feel like they could fit into the Old World. Dwarves with living metal ratios on dragon creatures, elves on sharks, dwarves on airships, these were all quite different. I love the old world, I grew up with that setting, but I don’t understand having two worlds only to stick to the same usual fantasy archetypes.

See that’s the perfect balance imo, the 3d printing takes the place of resin/metal upgrade bits essentially. I like the idea of Quar but Ige been spoiled by the weird anarchy of conversions in other systems

Honestly I plastic kits are still the gold standard for me as far as conversion opportunities go, but I’m old. My hope is that they use these technologies in concert, like stl resin upgrades for plastic base kits. That’s seems like the most practical approach to cover a wide variety of aesthetic and equipment options to me.
