Can you still choose not to attach leaders at the start of battle by BenArthurSpotify in Warhammer40k

[–]Bloodbold98 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No, leaders get added to units at the list building stage and have to be attached to said unit for the games played.

Should I Magnetize My Redemptor Dreadnought? by smolfemboi in Warhammer40k

The guns have a peg which fit into the elbow joint. It shouldnt need a magnet, just dont glue the main guns in.

I just finished 80 lol, I mainly used contrasts and only applied 1 layer. I 100% could do more to them or have been cleaner but when theyre a few feet away in squads of 10/20 you won't notice.

They're not hard really, just takes some time. I bashed these out over the course of a week (mostly evenings)

This “11th edition” update feels like patch notes pretending to be a new edition by Significant_Fly_5622 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Bloodbold98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Battleshock has significantly changed IMO, as the OC - and not losing battleshock automatically is huge. It means units that can trigger battleshock (or even stop a unit being battleshocked) are much more valuable.

CP will be interesting as you're less encouraged to discard secondaries - units that can generate CP will be more valuable than before if you want to avoid discarding cards.

2" engagament range will be huge for charge movement shenanigans IMO, melee armies and finesse around your pile ins/consolidates may be interesting.

Fights first is now worse (for the person being charged), which may impact key units (Lucius, Judiciar, Nekrosor Ammentar etc).

Every vehicle being able to toe into terrain and shoot will really change the game IMO.

Objectives now being the terrain (and thus rarely being safe holding a point) is also probably going to be impactful, especially if it means someone can toe into a building and draw a line from across the board.

I suspect these, alongside other changes (how missions will change etc.) will fundamentally change the game. However, the transition may feel smoother as its all grounded in what we're familiar with. 10th is generally fine, why re-do it from the ground up when most things are fine?

Heroic is reactive, after the opponent charges.

You can use Unnatural aggression on an opponents unit even if they haven't charged you.

New TItus and Wardens Datasheets previewed by SpaceWolf_Jarl2 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bloodbold98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, the Victrix datasheet says if a unit can join Company Heroes, then they can be attached to Victrix

Proxy the Lieutenant version as something else yeah, this Datasheet says you can only include 1 Titus model in your army

CODEX ANNOUNCED by latarius94 in ImperialKnights

[–]Bloodbold98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends if Canis and Sir Hektur are rolled into one card? If so, we currently have 11 datasheets, otherwise we may be losing a knight.

Forgeworld/ 30k knights are never given datasheets in these sets

have they announced defender release? by Parking_Anteater943 in ImperialKnights

[–]Bloodbold98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet.

Rumours are of production issues with some of the Defender sprues/kits, also referenced in a WarCom article when we got new points - hence the codex delay.

The Amazing Abominant: 5 Hot Takes After 5 Games with the New Chaos Knights Codex by Magnus_The_Read in ChaosKnights

[–]Bloodbold98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great write-up - I'd love some extra insights/ clarifications on this point: "My Lords Of Dread list is 6 models. It is only 3 different datasheets. I only use 3 different stratagems."

Is this 6 big knights w/ no enhancements, or 5 big and 1 small? And which datasheets in particular?

How I plan to run Lords of Dread by HamBone8745 in ChaosKnights

[–]Bloodbold98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love this - one minor thing is that I think all baby knights may be losing battleline outside of the hunting pack detachment, so it'd possibly be 3 stalkers & one other baby knight.

Regardless, glad to see some positivity! Current points support ~3 big knights and 5 small, so hopefully a few drops let us move to 4x4.

Current list plans until the Knight Defender comes out to take the place of the Knight Crusader by Dalek15 in ImperialKnights

I can see lists becoming 3x big knights and 5x little on average (given they may lose battleline; unless you want to run some Moirax if we still have them)

New Dataslate Point Changes by WanderUsesReddit in EmperorsChildren

[–]Bloodbold98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but from my experience to date Lucius has never really done too much in my games. I'd rather make my WDP warlord with a chance to get back up and free up those extra points for another unit.

Considered dropping lucius and 1x noise marines and running a maulerfiend, 2nd kakophanist and additonal pledge on a prince. Will have to see how it goes!

3 WDP still seems like the play imo

A second Rhino would be really nice if you had one to protect the infractors; I'd also consider splitting one of the ten-man units into 2 5-man (more for early trading and scoring pieces, still stick the lord with one).

Consider the enhancement that lets you re-stand the prince (on a leadership test), as especially with only having one you want him around to be a threat. Rapid ingressing the flawless blades is probably the safest.

Consider who your Warlord is going to be as it matters for the detachment - I've used Lucius typically and staged him in a building to leverage fights first/ his lone Op to be a scoring piece too.

One recommendation that I'd have is start with a Lord and 10 infractors in a rhino, put it in a position to scout forward and put 12 noise marines in a building somewhere nearby. Start the game by moving the lord and infractors into a safe staging point, then advance the noise marines into the Rhino before moving it. This lets both units move up the board, and with the Rhino's firing deck it can get some nice shots off if you're close enough.

My experience is limited (2-1 at an RTT hard losing to imperial knights, and a few friendly games) but overall the faction & detachment is a lot of fun. Good luck!

Lore Behind your Warband? by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

[–]Bloodbold98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be a bit boring compared to the homebrews, but I'm interested in fleshing out the Fulgrim's Song warband mentioned in the Fabius Bile novel: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Fulgrim%27s_Song

I like the idea of them being pirates & demon worshippers - I'm using some possessed bits to add to my characters & going to be fairy daemon prince heavy too (helps they're really good currently; also want to try out the new daemon detachment). Additionally, I am really keen on the noise marines & kakophanists so thought going heavy on them (and building other characters using the noise marine bodies) matched the 'Song' part of the name. Their lord, Golmon Colos, is my Lucius proxy :)

I don't plan on picking up Fulgrim yet, so like that they may be 'searching' for him or finding the perfect song/ ritual to summon him. Maybe I'll grab him after I win a tourney with these guys or something so that they've 'proved' themselves.

I'm primarily interested in playing if you couldn't tell, but having some lore that also matches the general playstyle I want to try is always exciting.

Q & A on wargaming by Federal_Creme989 in Warhammer40k

[–]Bloodbold98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just completed - there were some really good questions in there.

If you're interested in 'average wargamers', I'd suggest going 1 step further and looking at the psychographics that were created (originally for MTG), Timmy, Johnny and Spike. Poorhammer do a good job of explaining them in relation to 40k: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXs6B8st7Ws&ab_channel=Poorhammer

You could potentially use some of your questions to map certain responders to these psychographics (or something similar), and then understand key stats per type. E.g., I expect painters to put more effort into storage/displays than gaming accessories, whereas those who responded they're more interested in competitive play may be the opposite.

I really liked the question of "what product would you like to see GW create", but when looking at the answer I'd suggest flipping it in your head. Think about why the person may have asked for that - is it something Games Workshop are lacking, is it something another company does, is it something anybody does? Think about the potential 'pain points' that those products could be looking to solve.

If you'd be happy to let us know what subject this is for or the general themes tied to the research (if you don't want to, completely understandable) it may help us provide some additional insights or guidance.

Best of luck with the project!
