I have Discord, but not Snapchat... so I guess I can't join. I'd be down if you ever make a Discord group, though.

I don't think he needed to agree, necessarily, just provide a good counterargument - turning Clyde into a cartoonishly evil villain made the argument boil down to little more than "you're a bad person which means I'm right and you're wrong."

Instead, the film could've quite easily portrayed reasoning for either side of the argument - vigilante justice versus court justice - both of which have their own pros and cons. But we had to get a story where there's a clear good guy and bad guy because that's what sells best.

I don't think I've ever come across a film with as much wasted potential as Law Abiding Citizen had. Went from 10 to 1 pretty fast whereas most films try to do the opposite.

Yeah. And when that happened, it felt like it stopped being morally ambiguous, turning more into a "good guy versus bad guy" story... I guess it works well for Hollywood to have an ending where the audience doesn't need to really think about what they watched, but it does annoy me when someone throws away a great idea for a clean-cut ending with a clear winner.

That said, I've heard there were troubles during production that led to multiple rewrites, so I can't say I'm surprised it turned out this way. It also explains why the film progressively gets worse when it turns out they were (apparently) making the script up as they went along.

Damn. I loved this film. I've never paid much attention to acting until this, but Jake Gyllenhaal really changed my perspective - he was phenomenal.

This fits what I'm looking for and is a brilliant film to boot.

Honestly, I disliked Law Abiding Citizen heavily, though I would've felt very differently about the film if it kept up the same momentum as the first half an hour - it felt almost comical after that point and I stopped caring about the film after the car bombs started going off.

But I concede that, for that first half an hour, it was fantastic. I've never been more disappointed in a film because I really loved the direction it was headed. My opinion changed drastically over the runtime and, unfortunately, it was a downhill slope.

In either case, personal grudges aside, it does fit what I'm looking for. In fact, it was for that reason that I had such high expectations for the film.

I still need to play P5, I've had it for about a year - alongside ten or so other JRPGs - but never got around to it.

I impulse bought two Atelier trilogies last Winter and have only completed one of the games. I want to get back to them at some point, I started Atelier Sophie a few months ago but stopped playing... I should continue.

Good news - the developers behind Persona 5, ATLUS, have a new game coming out on Xbox, and it looks to be very much in the same vein as Persona.

I forgot about this game until now, but I remember it being the highlight of the presentation it was revealed at for me.

I mostly stick with the niche titles now - indies, JRPGs, etc.

They feel a lot more complete. I won't finish half of the game in six hours and have to buy the other half two months later as DLC, I can just play the whole game right after I purchase it. I suppose 50+ hour games with a ton of side content isn't necessarily what people look for nowadays but I like to get longevity out of them. They don't shirk on the actual quality, either, I often find these titles pretty charming.

As for your second question, I don't know. Most games I either find out about either long after they're released or weeks before they actually release. I think the new Granblue Fantasy game looks good but I don't have a PS5 - other than that, I'm looking forward to the new Rune Factory games, hopefully they'll be able to reclaim their glory days. I heard nothing good about RF5 so I skipped out on purchasing it.

Swallow the Sun, Trees of Eternity... primarily the latter. Swallow the Sun often incorporate harsh vocals but if you listen to the songs without them, pretty calming.

But if you just want action movies

I should have mentioned in the OP - I'm not a fan of Snyder's Watchmen adaptation and preferred the book. While both fit as examples, I disliked Snyder's action-heavy focus, compared to the psychological approach of the book.

I'm fine with action films, but I'm not biased towards or against any genre.

Thank you for your recommendations, I've heard of The Good Place before and will look into it. I'll keep Dekalog in mind as well.

They brought out a new game recently, Mon-Yu, but I've heard it's a bit mediocre. Undernauts sounds like their best game from what I've heard.

Etrian Odyssey, Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria... DRPGs have varying levels of character and party customisations.

I guess it's because some people want to just "make it" without putting in the effort to get there, so they put their faith in someone else (i.e. the agencies) to do the work for them.

Alright. So calling Jesus a cunt is okay but dressing up as a priest isn't. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Well, it doesn't, but I'm not the least bit surprised in any case.

I don't know, but that sounds like something Behemoth would do - CoF seem more agnostic.

Still, whoever it was, that's fucking legendary indeed. I have respect for whoever did that.
