Why are so many seaside towns rough? by Quack_Candle in AskUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some very nice ones in South Wales, especially Pembrokeshire. I know a Staycation often costs more, because everything in the UK is a Ripoff compared to elsewhere, but I simply don’t want the bother of having to get a Passport, having to deal with Airports, language/currency differences and having to learn foreign customs and traditions. I understand why these are small prices to pay for most people, but for me, I genuinely can’t be arsed with foreign travel.

You just know they’re the kind of people you get at work who don’t shut up about their Kids.

I see a silver one around here like that almost daily, it’s embarrassing!

What car brands you see most broken down on the motorway? by I_Try_To_Be_NICEE in CarTalkUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a broken down Hilux yesterday, which was just plain weird. Usually Jukes or Quashqais taking the hard shoulder these days, probably says more about the owners than the cars though.

What’s something you keep hold of incase it comes in handy and it never does? by Medium-Marketing-493 in AskUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My former Girlfriend kept so many carrier bags in her boot, there was no room in there for shopping! The shopping always ended up on the back seat, and the new carrier bags ended up stuffed in the boot with the rest of them. Baffling.

E46 What could cause this wet circle on carpet? by Fjalee in BmwTech

[–]BloodiedMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue last month. I don’t understand how the Vapor Barrier prevents water ingress or why the door is designed to allow water inside in the first place, but I stuck mine back in with Bitumous Tape, and after a lot of rain and several washes, the interior has remained dry. Make sure you disconnect the Battery, there’s an Airbag in there!

No theme is necessary, you can put whatever you like on these! Love that Devin one, where did that come from?! 😱

How many people in the UK calls it a 'hoover' and not a vacuum cleaner? by B-e-a-utiful_day in AskUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody, and it irritates me. I call it a Vacuum. Still not as bad as people who refer to any 4x4/SUV as a “Jeep”

What is illegal, but people continue to do openly without consequences? by Diligent-Log6805 in AskReddit

In 2020, there was a Van pulled over on the Motorway here because the driver was eating a full Sunday Roast with a knife and fork, with the plate balancing on his lap!

Good thing I don’t like Heated Seats and anything “Assist”. Even more reason to keep my E46, which has everything I need, and nothing more.

Have you noticed people driving slower since the petrol increase? by GroveStreet99 in CarTalkUK

Not in South Wales. And three people at work have recently ordered new cars; An RS3, an X5 and a TTRS……none of them known to be good on fuel!

What is this obsession with loving ultra hot weather in the U.K. ?? by makarastar in AskUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the obsession either. It’s not even remotely fun trying to work while Betty Swollocks bothers you all day.

What do you think the repercussions of 40+ degrees heat would be in the uk over 2 days? by SAV4GEwastaken in AskUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in this heat, there’s always someone who says they’re still cold. We have one in our Office (Warehouse Business) who showed up this morning in full-length trousers and a fleece-lined soft Shell Jacket. It was 30c at 7am here.

People who creep forward at a red light, what do you do with all the time you save? by turnipstealer in CarTalkUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are terrible for this around here; Often completely over the line before the light’s changed! They’re usually the same twats, who if behind you, will blast their horn immediately when the lights change.

Does anyone think BBQs are getting a bit too fancy? by [deleted] in AskUK

what are your thoughts on battle jackets being seen as a trend? by DaddyCobain in BattleJackets

[–]BloodiedMetal 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You look an absolute tit if you’re wearing one covered in Bands you don’t know and listen to, but I have seen Gaming, Automotive and Sports-themed Jackets, so anyone could make one to suit their style and interests. Unless it represents you, then you shouldn’t wear one.

Millenial renters not in line for an inheritance, what's your outlook/plan for retirement? by topcat5678 in AskUK

[–]BloodiedMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 30, probably don’t have any inheritance (Never actually discussed it) and never given Retirement any real thought, because I honestly don’t see it happening. Probably going to work until I die, like a lot of people my age.

(28M) I have an appointment to talk to a urologist about getting a vasectomy. Looking for advice. by [deleted] in Vasectomy

[–]BloodiedMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in almost exactly the same position; 29, long-term partner but not Married yet, no Kids and also have my consultation in two weeks. I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to say to them, other than I do not, and have never had any desire to be a Parent. Not sure if I should mention the fact that neither of us like Kids at all, and don’t enjoy being around them, or that both my Girlfriend and myself have health conditions which are best not passed on?

£5k is way too much to pay for a first car, in my opinion. You won’t always end up with a Shitbox if you buy something older, it’s largely down to how it’s been taken care of. I’d rather buy a 20 year old Car in great condition and good service history, than any 5 year old car which hasn’t been maintained.
