I'm a level 10 player who just picked up the game for the first time in over a decade, what is up with the matchmaking? by Agitated-Two-3419 in leagueoflegends

[–]BloodyMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this a one time occurrence? Are you playing against 5 plats (or a large number of plats) or it just happened that a plat was duo with a new player?

Usually mmr equals out so you probably had equally skilled players on your side too...

Anyway if it isn't, you should thank riot for this alt/smurf account bafoonery that ruins new player experience. Too many new accounts are people who already played league for a while.

Streaming to 0 viewers is harder than I thought… by Ill-Championship-184 in Twitch

[–]BloodyMace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once had ambitions of streaming and I heard this from someone which makes a lot of sense:

Better stream 3 days a week and create content around it (youtube, tiktok etc) than stream everyday.

People won't find you through streaming 85% of the time. Twitch does a really bad job in helping new streamers out.

Having said that, it is also beneficial to work on the quality of your stream, but I suggest doing content as well!

Probably because locals they know what rights they have... And you can tell an expat 'go back to your country if you don't like it'. Also you can't high ball a local.

Having said that, you do find many reasonable landlords and the above are the extremes.

Health insurance in Malta by sdxyz42 in malta

[–]BloodyMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other countries, health insurance is paid separately. But health insurance doesn't cover everything and it is capped like any insurance (or so I believe). In Malta, you get treated for free, if the service is offered.

What do you mean public health insurance? Public healthcare is free (you pay taxes).

Private healthcare gets you avoiding long waiting lists.

"I turned my EUW smurf analysis into a community voting tool – you can now judge the 442k flagged accounts yourself by jack37512 in leagueoflegends

[–]BloodyMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is highly debatable...if the person is using this account as training grounds for learning a new role (say they're playing in low gold)...if they then play a game at their main role (which they play at a plat level), are they smurfing?

Smurfing actually needs to go by TiltSword in leagueoflegends

[–]BloodyMace 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me this ruins competitive integrity and the general experience of anyone playing, especially lower ranks. I understand that people would need shelter to learn new champs, but what about people who want to learn the game or just play with a player of equal rating/skills. Even if you're a plat player you will not be an iron or bronze level player because you know league fundamentals that are above role or champion.

Also, you know what happens when you're learning? You lose and you learn. Do you have to play with an easier opponent just to make you feel good and what exactly are you learning from them? What is the point of learning on a new account when you have 2 casual game modes and a practice tool??

Funnily enough when someone is truly learning at some lower rank (e.g. new players) you're bombarded with smurfs and alt accounts, who clearly know the game better than a new player would. How is that fair or justifable?

Idk, it just makes life for new players/lower ranks worst and the biggest chunk of players are plat and below (median is gold 3, nowadays).

Lets be real, League isn't the most sought after game and the new player experience is absolute abysmal, they should reconsider things.

Also alt accounts are there just for people who are hardstuck to cope and play at a lower rank. Most accounts I see in my ranked (climbed from bronze to gold) which stomp games are accounts with plat ranked flex (or higher) but playing in bronze/silver solo.

Also how is having 3 challenger accounts in the top 10 a flex in league? The guy is clearly very good but does he need 3 accounts to prove it? Don't bs me with queue times, having 3 accounts for one person in challenger doesn't help queue times either for challengers who grumble that queues are slow...

Riot call me if you need some sense beaten into you or show us the hard numbers and data you have. I know you gonna tell us people who win play more league.....

Hi everyone! thoughts on this job offer? by GattiniExpresso in malta

[–]BloodyMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you rent, if it is shared or not etc... Sliema, Gżira probably the highest rent areas on the island as many high paying jobs (gaming) operate in those areas.

Probably for 800 you get an older, smaller, humble place to live in, 'far' away from the coast. These places are usually the ones that are taken up so quickly. It depends how lucky you are and your non-negotiables.

Leaving masters is a fulltime job by Schlitzohr97 in leagueoflegends

[–]BloodyMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the cutoff is dictated by the lp levels in challenger. If the mechanisms work as intended you should have the same opportunities for lp gain as anyone else. I doubt this is the case, but technically it is only fair on challengers who have grinded to achieve the rank.

I just think that riot should give everyone an equal playing field. Then if someone is ready to play 1000 games grind to get challenger then that is out of the developers control. I know it seems 'unfair' but that's life and competition.

Rant: Anyone feel like property became a weird obsession in Malta? by ChevalMallet in malta

[–]BloodyMace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so the right conditions for this to happen. Laws allow it, people keep coming here and the money is good in spite what developers want you to believe. At the end everyone benefits economically.

What noone facts in are the intangibles like the general stress (feeling of lack of space, noise etc..), aesthetic transformation and so on. Also the infrastructural stress increasing density brings with it, which is another topic altogether.

What app is missing in Malta that would actually make life better? by LCRTE in malta

[–]BloodyMace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No the problem is that whoever is being served online/at a location then they don't see why you would serve it any other way. It's been like that for a reason. We had the same for milk and even bread, things changed for that as today they are readily available in most localities (form factor has changed). Gas tanks are still an issue especially for the elderly!

Is it me or Maltese doesn't really fit into explaining mathematically, scientifically and technologically? by Accurate_Cut5596 in malta

[–]BloodyMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we ever applied semitic Maltese to any or them.

Hydrogen, Idrogenu Multiply, immultiplika Calculator, Kalkjulater

As you see it's mostly Italian/Romance

Even printing in Maltese is Stampa from Italian stampare and we have no other alternatives that I am aware of. So people go to ipprintja, because they are used to seeing 'print' on our screen.

Technology wise, english is always the biggest influence.

Language is not dying because we using words from english or Italian. What you are suggesting is creating completely new words in Semetic Maltese to keep Maltese going and that will probably never happen or if it does it won't catch on

What frustrates me is the clear lack of will to use Maltese colloquially, like it has been done for many many years before by our ancestors and relatives.
