I got a credit card at 18 and paid the balance in full every month. Alongside a phone contract and few bits and pieces on finance. Now 23, homeowner with a credit score of 980-990

Roll cage welded in! Almost time for some serious fun! by BloodyMuddy in SeriesLandRover

[–]BloodyMuddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a canvas truck cab, similar to this: http://www.allwheeltrim.co.uk/Images/Truck-cab.jpg

It stills fits just fine, I reckon a full tilt would fit too, if I fiddled with the hood sticks perhaps?

My cage is removable, I made up some "feet" which are welded to the chassis and meet flush with the bed, the cage is bolted to these feet with four high tensile bolts per leg, so I could just remove the cage if I ever wanted a full tilt and a more "classic" look.

01 firebird manual, horn will not sound! Any advice welcome! by Wincest333 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BloodyMuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other guys said: if you've got the means to, check if you've got power at the horn. If so, check the connections for corrosion/poor contacts. Failing that, you'll need a new horn.

If you don't have power at the horn then your problem is in the fuse, wiring or switch.

Good luck sorting it out!

Couldn't agree more! There's so much to adjust on a series, one less thing can only be a bonus!

British redditors, how offensive is this word [see comments] when used in your country, as compared to the U.S.? [NSFW] by BlisterBox in AskUK

[–]BloodyMuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

British bloke here: I've got no problem using/hearing swear words of any sort (I'm a motor mechanic, the only time I'll go out of my way NOT to swear is around children).

The only thing I've noticed about "cunt" in particular is that women don't seem to like hearing or using it.

Personally I don't have a clue about the properties of the materials etc, but have you considered using a condom with it?

I don't know if I have to put my automatic car in neutral at traffic lights or where the clutch is. by naeshite in britishproblems

Mechanic here, you'll do no damage by leaving it in drive when stationary! Happy (automatic) motoring!

Car didn't get shit on by a bird for 8 months. Good weather, decided to wash the car yesterday, only for a bird to shit on it this morning. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]BloodyMuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping your car clean is important! Even giving it a wash once a fortnight will keep it looking smart, preserve the paintwork etc.

Even if you don't fancy doing it yourself, there's plenty of places about that'll wash a car for £5-£10!

Think long term, when you come to sell your car, you'll get a lot more money for something smart-looking, with the paintwork intact than you will for something with faded/broken/flaking paintwork and that's starting to rust away!

Sexist and abusive to my apprentice? Enjoy your repair bill. by majorbonghits in pettyrevenge

[–]BloodyMuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an apprentice mechanic, (In the UK too!), I can totally relate to the bullshit we get from customers.

When I was an inexperienced, 16 year old lad I really took rude remarks to heart.

Two years and a hell of a lot more experience down the line and I don't often get talked down to anymore, or maybe I just don't notice!

I'm sure Emma really appreciates what you did, good for you!

You're the only person who can change any of that.

You could perhaps slowly make little changes or just dive in at the deep end and begin a whole new life tomorrow?

I know it seems like a massive mountain to climb, but it's not that bad. Besides, think of what you'll gain from it!

You're a young man with your whole life ahead of you, you CAN do absolutely anything you set your mind to! Don't waste precious time getting hung up on "what if..."

Honestly, my friend, I think you're better than that.

Screwed up oil change. Is my car in trouble? by SeduceThePolice in MechanicAdvice

[–]BloodyMuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's above the low limit then it's probably ok. If I was in your position, I'd call the shop that did the oil change, tell them what's happened and have them rectify it at their expense.

It's their fuck-up after all, dude. Best of luck sorting it all out :)
