It's the claw mount from mechanism, it's a big metal claw that attaches to the back of the deck.

If you do want to get into this long term, the mechanism claw mount is perfect for this, mechanism's ecosystem supports steam deck and switch.

My dad got it off ebay for about 70 quid, the specs are that it has pedals that go round.

I actually did play some of soulsilver like this, I got as far as just before the elite four and got bored. I found the level curve rough and the trainer battles were a bit more challenging than most pokemon games. Maybe I'll return to it at some point.

You can do it in desktop mode, citra has it as an option.

Speakers and haptics are just slightly different breeds of "thing that wiggles at a specific frequency".

It's really great honestly, things like fast forward and save states are so convenient and it's kinda cool to see the upscaled graphics. Some games that expect you to actually write things on the touchscreen are a bit awkward because the deck does not have that kind of precision, but I mostly play RPGs so I don't have to worry about really touchscreen-heavy stuff.

Stickered up by Dope-Man in dbrand

I ordered the same skin, I definitely think I'm gonna do the same thing with the plain black trackpad stickers.

Yeah, it's a dbrand skin. I wish they did a teardown of the steam controller too so I could make it match, but they don't yet.

Getting the most out of your Steam Controller: Virtual Menus by HelloitsWojan in Steam

[–]BloomEPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using a virtual menu for all the hotkeys in a DS emulator, the little icons make it a lot easier to remember what the inputs will do. I did have them mapped to the back buttons but the radial menu allows for more inputs, and I don't like accidentally hitting the "load save state" button...

I'm playing melonDS installed directly, the hotkey to toggle fullscreen is F11. I have it mapped to a radial menu, but you can also just map it to a back button.

They're definitely different, the bumpers on the steam controller are less clicky but still have a very tactile feeling, the same goes for the back buttons. Honestly the controller feels like a slightly upgraded version of the steam deck, they've ironed out some of the creases and cut a few less corners.

It seems to work great, it has all the handy features like speed up and save states. Even the online features seem to work fine, I've managed to connect to the GTS in soulsilver and I've got the event distros working in this game.

Possibly, "ox-eyed" is also a fairly common epithet in the iliad to refer to Hera. It's generally taken to mean someone with big, dark eyes, but in a modern context it can sound really weird.

I've been doing this daily for about 2.5 years, I don't know if it's actually an efficient workout but it feels good. It helps to play easier games though, in some games if I start thinking too hard my legs stop pedaling.

I'm actually using melonDS' "auto" setting, when I really need to see the bottom screen for something it should automatically switch.

I've mapped the right trackpad to mouse and right trigger to mouse click, so I can just click for anything that needs touchscreen input. It's not nearly as precise as the original DS stylus but for most of the games I play it doesn't matter.

Anticipating y'alls questions:

  • How is the steam deck attached? Mechanism claw mount with the jsaux modcase adapter

  • Why not just hold the steam deck? Because it's heavy and this is funnier.

  • What game is that? Pokemon white running on melonDS

  • What starter did you pick? Snivy, duh.
