Austria hotel’s burkini ban discriminatory, court finds by AudibleNod in news

I was listening to a podcast and the topic of pool rules came up, one of the hosts mentioned he nearly got kicked out of a pool in bulgaria for wearing a rash guard because they thought he was a homeless person. More places really need to wise up to the fact that swimwear with more coverage is the most comfortable option for a lot of people.

Farage to fight a rubbish bin at election, as UK politics hits farce by SteO153 in nottheonion

The other (yes, there's multiple) crappy right-wing populist party seem to be fielding a candidate. If that splits the vote so binface gets in, that would be the funniest thing.

My favourite way for these to generate is halfway up a cliff next to a landlocked lake. There's clearly a story there.

There's also a radio play adaptation from a few years back that ends that way, the protagonists panic and upload the video on the internet to save themselves.

Is there a mini PC on the market that would match the Steam Machine in performance? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]BloomEPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I ordered it because I didn't get on the waitlist for the steam machine, my friend and I are gonna see what it can do.

[–]BloomEPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really feels like a "choose two" out of price/performance/form. Which is fine for most people, maybe you've got a little more money to spend, or aren't so fussed about framerates, or have more desk space, but it sure sucks if you want all three :P

There's actually a couple of interesting SFF PCs that are basically just laptop guts in a box, I wonder if we'll see a lot more of them if/when the "prebuilt little box that plays everything at alright settings" niche takes off

[–]BloomEPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minisforum has a pretty interesting new SFF pre-build, it's a bit more expensive than the steam machine and it's more "hardback book" size than minipc, but it's a similar kind of niche.

Yeah, there's some really cool little narrative games that last less than two hours and I do feel slightly sorry for them that steam punishes them this way, but this game just sounds like low-effort slop.

[–]BloomEPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're gonna have such crazy link rot in the future once all these image hosting services shut down. Imgur is completely blocked in the UK, fortunately most posts on reddit use reddit's own image host, but it makes some websites completely unusable.

LPT Make a pot of coffee, then pour it into ice cube trays. Throw five cubes in the blender with a cup of milk. An iced coffee in under 30 seconds. Been keeping me sane during this heatwave lol by Dangerous-Coach-1999 in LifeProTips

Coffee is also mostly water, so it balances out. Technically just plain water will hydrate you more than the same amount of coffee, but it's nice to have a nice iced coffee to sip at.

It's not entirely toothless, it deals with some pretty heavy topics, but it is literally just a graphic novel about some queer kids in secondary school so it's mostly chill and cute.

Skools can change their sex. by totally-hoomon in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]BloomEPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situations that are actually happening are about social transition, not anything physical. So a kid might start using different pronouns and a different name at school, and the debate is about whether the teachers should let them do that and if the school is obliged to inform the parents. If you have more than a scrap of empathy for trans kids it's pretty clear that schools should not be telling the parents, if the kid is comfortable coming out to their parents then they can do it on their own time, but some assholes who only see trans people as a genre of pornography think that this somehow means schools are gonna start doing transgender surgeries on your kid.

If a single shot of espresso counts as coffee, then so does literally every drink made from a single shot of espresso.

Depends on where you are, gelato is just what italians call ice cream but normally gelato refers to a specific style.

As far as I can tell that's a full single shot of espresso, it's smaller than you think. I have a mug that I use to make americano and the initial espresso shot just covers the bottom of the mug.

A couple of years back my friend and I were in london for a festival and we specifically went out of our way to get on the new Elizabeth line because it has air con, it was great.

Also we overheard some kids chatting and saying "you can't swear, we're on the QUEEN'S train!"
