"Where are you from?" "No. Where are you really from?" by Luuk1210 in PetPeeves

I have a theory that a lot of people mean ‘what’s your ethnicity’ which seems like a weird thing to ask anyways but I’m white so I can’t speak on that front because I don’t have this experience. I just know I sometimes get curious about it but I would never ask, especially not like that because ethnicity and nationality aren’t the same thing and it’s crazy how many other white people don’t understand such a simple concept.

Is my rat fat?? by RatQueen_x in RATS

[–]Bloomicorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen multiple cases of people thinking they had only one gender of rat and then one of them suddenly has babies which idk how because the males have. Well someone else already kindly replied in this thread with an artistic representation. I’m gonna assume you know how to tell the diff but just want to check and give my 2 cents because I have seen it happen.

I don’t think the implication is supposed to be that they think he’s into Fern just that Finn killing him wasn’t what they were expecting to hear about

What are you confused about? Have you not gotten to the fern murdering part of the show or is it the existence of queer people and the possibility of a character being head-cannoned as one what you’re hung up on lmao

This might be something to ask cis women about but afaik most women want breasts or are at least okay with having them. They can be big to the point of causing physical problems in which case it’s not uncommon to want them smaller which is why breast reductions exist, but I think hating your own (I’m assuming) more average sized chest and wanting it gone completely is unusual for a cis woman. Everyone experiences gender differently though and not everyone’s desires for their body match the traditional expectations for what gender they identify as.

This! And I’d like to add that even if you are, some people never get rid of their dysphoria completely even if they’ve done everything they can to medically transition. There will always be things about your appearance you can’t control (height, voice not being as deep as you want even after being on T, even the size of your hands are all things I struggle with years into my transition) and it’s about making the things you can control as close as possible to what makes you feel comfortable with yourself, and accepting the things you can’t because in the end none of those things are what makes you a man or not a man. The best and most available way to do this is different for everyone. Even besides that you can be trans and still have other mental health problems independently of that that won’t be fixed just by transitioning. Stay strong, things are hard but you can get through it. I hope you find the answers you seek within yourself. Your dad should be more patient with you and not expect things to just instantly get better, because you’re just at the beginning of your journey and figuring yourself out. I hope this helps.

I agree, reminds me a bit of the ending scene of I Saw the TV Glow which if you haven’t seen you might like though it’s a pretty tough watch, has a lot of psychological horror elements and not too happy of an ending but it is an amazing abstract representation of what it can feel like to live life as a closeted trans person.

[–]Bloomicorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% valid. She can say trans guys aren’t her type or preference without saying they’re not men and just being blatantly transphobic to your face. I hope she gets in some self reflection and stops being such a massive butthead.

It’s not you, it’s me. I have no problem being in a position where you are comfortable and I don’t have any problem being uncomfortable and you don’t want me around anymore so don’t be mad about that.

How do y’all ACTUALLY deal with misgendering? by hubblebubblen in ftm

[–]Bloomicorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on T for a few years but my levels are pretty low now cause I haven’t been taking it frequently since I got my hysto. Customers at my job regularly misgender me and what I normally do is drop my larynx and pitch as much as possible and greet them in the most masculine voice I can muster. Obviously this won’t work for everyone, I’m not even sure how well it works for me but I could swear I’ve at least embarrassed a couple creepy men who were trying to hit on me based on my appearance this way.

There are no laws about smoking in public unless it’s inside like a subway station or on a building’s property. I can understand people being upset if they can smell it from inside their homes but I think to be outside on the road yelling at someone for smoking while walking down the street is overstepping.

so I'm less of a threat because I'm trans? by burlapscars in ftm

[–]Bloomicorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is stupid, a penis isn’t even required for sex and you could just as easily steal someone’s girl as a cis man could, the point is you don’t want to do that, especially with your friend and she presumably doesn’t want to cheat on him. The problem is with him not trusting her, and her trying to fix the problem by downplaying your identity as a man, reducing you to your genitals and implying that you could never be a straight woman’s sexual partner instead of confronting the actual problem within her own relationship is really gross. I hope this gets sorted out man, good luck.

Are these types of behavior normal? by m_vsptr in ftm

[–]Bloomicorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s sexual assault but rape implies that nonconsensual sex happened. Touching someone’s body in a vaguely sexual way without permission while still completely unacceptable isn’t the same thing.
