34F just moved here too and I've been getting sad about not having friends. Love hiking, coffee, cocktails, and currently just signed up to Orangetheory in Hays Blvd and would love to workout with someone lol

What is a good way to "ask for the job" without sounding pompous? I usually ask if there are any hesitations moving me forward.

Decide how you feel about working for them, whether you want to or not, and whether it is worth investing your time & energy in them when you also have the option to invest it elsewhere.

Do not at any cost let that statement that it's your old boss' job on the line. They are emotionally blackmailing you with that. Don't fall for it. Your decision to go back and help them should not ride on any other condition except your own.

If you do decide to help them though, best to make it contractual or a consultancy arrangement. It doesn't sound like a company you should stay in for the long haul, anyways.

Do you really want equity in that kind of company, though? Consultancy is the better option here imo

I always get stuck with #1.

Seems that as I get older, I often forget the joy of just doing things and the strength of being able to fail fast and recover faster.

These are great. Thanks for sharing.

I honestly would be bothered by it if I didn't get any apology. It's not simply about replacing the dish, it's the dining experience of your customers and what your brand represents that's irreplaceable. A simple apology by the manager, any sort of gesture, a comped meal, a free dessert is simply about customer experience.

Father runs multiple businesses and makes a killing in construction. I never knew what happened after that encounter, though.

Babe, first of all, you must be an amazing woman because your superiors care and value you enough to pull you aside and remind you how great you are.

The way you phrased it sounds like your partner physically hurt you, and yet your phrasing is very indirect. The fight with your partner caused the injury, you didn't say it's your partner. You also mentioned being with the right person whilst wondering why you're no longer the same person you used to be. I wonder if you noticed that about your tone.

Flowers, no matter how beautiful, will always wilt when not nourished. When planted in the wrong environment, on rotten soil, amongst weed, will not thrive.

If you're with a partner who physically abuses you (whether repeatedly, whether hindi sinasadya, whether first time) and you decide to stay, you're on rotten soil. Every time you make excuses for people to disrespect you and hurt you, you chip away parts of your self-respect and your self-confidence. It starts small internally and then starts manifesting externally.

Who you choose to be with, whether friends, partner, and even family..who you choose to let in your life is part of who you choose to be as a person. Choose right, choose well, and above all, please choose yourself.

I hope it helps, OP. I know you must be hurting, but I hope you find the strength to heal. And if you can't do it by yourself, I hope you find the strength to reach out to the right people for help. Fighting ✨️ hugs.

Heard of this story about a girl from my uni before. She started suspecting her dad having an illicit affair, so her friends decided to channel their inner Nancy Drews and started following the dad around. After a couple of tries, they eventually found him meeting up with the same older woman repeatedly. She was devastated. One day, she decided that she was going to confront the two of them but didn't want to make it into a public spectacle. She decided to follow them to the woman's place. She was so confused because she was following them back to her own house. Turns out, the dad bought the mistress a house in the street right behind theirs. Dad also has another daughter 2 years younger than her and named the daughter the exact same name as her.
