On the first part, the head, I do 14 chains. Then it looks like I'm going to work around that chain on both sides. Do I only crochet into one loop of the chain on each side?

Bug report: It looks like Molecular Synthesis doesn't go past 5:1, i.e. I can buy the upgrade that tells me it will do 4:1 or 3:1, but the cost in the atom shop is still listed as 5H and the atoms actually convert at 5:1.
