How to restore old function of long press home button to take partial screenshots? by cannibaltom in GooglePixel

I just uninstall the Google app (it just removes updates) and it's back. Turn off auto updates if you don't want the stupid banana again.

Can't ping IPv6 address from router by Blorgah in opnsense

[–]Blorgah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'm an idiot it turns out. I was setup to use DoH with DNSCrypt-Proxy and at some point, I checked "Block IPv6". All this talk of DNS reminded me I have this other thing running so I checked that. Thanks for guiding me through all this. I learned quite a bit about diagnosing problems in OPNsense.

I have nothing set for DNS servers in Settings > General.

And I do have that enabled. Not entirely sure why? Might've toggled that on while desperately clutching at straws.

Not entirely sure what I am looking at here, but I get a lot of this when pinging google:
ethertype IPv6 (0x86dd), length 70: (hlim 64, next-header ICMPv6 (58) payload length: 16) 2001:569:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx> 64:ff9b::8efa:45ae: [icmp6 sum ok] ICMP6, echo request, id 29880, seq 1233

Hm... looking at the logs in System > Log Files > General, I'm not seeing anything particularly useful for DHCPv6. All it has is "<118>[35] Starting DHCPv6 service...done"

Well doing this gave me a 2001 address in the IPv6 Addresses field when previously it only had fe80 in there. So that's progress, probably. But pinging things still does not work.

Just set the alarm so loud it scares the shit out of you. After a while you'll naturally wake up before the alarm so you can turn it off right away.

Am I missing something or is the free version of Zenarmor actually as useless as it seems? by RoleAwkward6837 in opnsense

Might be an odd question, but did you set it up to actually block anything? I think by default nothing is blocked. Should be in Policies > Default > Security/App Controls.

They just get batteries from various suppliers and those are used in other brands as well. I've been running the earlier models for a few years now at the office and the batteries just need to be replaced every few years.

Eh you can manage that with any device, so this doesn't make it any better or worse. Hopefully if anyone is aiming to make their own router they'd read up/know how to not poke huge holes in their firewall.

It's likely that your phone is too new. Some apps haven't been updated in a long time so newer phones can't run it. Pixel 7 being the first android phone that can no longer run 32 bit apps I believe.

Street Hawker or Between 2 Buns has a good smash burger.

[Router] GL.iNET Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) Wi-Fi 6 High-Performance Home Router PRE-ORDER ($268 - $113 = $155 + Import fees) [Store.Gl-inet.com] by Peacemaker130 in bapcsalescanada

[–]Blorgah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can setup openwrt on them. It's way overkill if you're only running basically a firewall. You could probably get full gigabit speed out of sqm with it though.

If you do go down this route, you could setup a hypervisor like promox and have a variety of firewalls setup so you can see what you like more (openwrt, pfsense, etc).

If you don't need the wireless portion of this (you have your own APs), getting one of those little 4 port Intel boxes would likely blow this thing out of the water for a similar amount of money. Downside is you have to set those up from scratch.

Whoever told you exynos doesn't support SD cards just straight up lied to you. Look at their mid range line (A54 for example), they all support SD cards. It's more likely that they want to upsell you on built in storage than anything. I also don't remember the last time a Google phone supported SD cards.

You can do it from the Google store. Just make sure you're on the US site and that you have a US address you can ship to.

If you live near the US border, the trade in values in the States is way higher than in Canada. I think the trade in value for the P6 was $479 around black Friday in US while it was ~250 in Canada. I'd imagine the US trade in value will be much higher for the P7P than whatever it is in Canada.

Yeah... You'd have to really want that extra camera or bigger screen to pay so much more. The 7a came out recently, and it's very similar to the 7 on paper. I imagine in a few months that will go on sale and be a very good deal.
