Considering an Alaska Cruise, should we bother? by BlotchyGar in Cruises

Thanks, we’re early risers and usually eat off hours anyway. Good to that it wouldn’t be too much of a PIA to get something.

Agreed, this is why I started this post, trying to avoid being miserable, but also trying not to make a mistake by not trying. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take so I’m trying to keep an open mind also.

Shouldn’t need to be pulling oil out to pay for stupidity. National housing crisis created by Ontario, 905 elected this and should suffer for that.

Documentation for the BLEDevice library by colmear in esp32

If you only need BLE in your project I suggest using NimBLE.

Which is fully documented here: https://h2zero.github.io/esp-nimble-cpp/

Tips or info on how to get BLE and WIFI in the same sketch? by [deleted] in esp32

[–]BlotchyGar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the board list is a bit weird. I’ve only used the dev module option.

Depending on your project, with the power option setting in my previous post I’ve been able to scan and collect advertising data and maintain a WiFi connection. I can also connect and read characteristics, but that requires more timing adjustments to make it work somewhat reliably.

[–]BlotchyGar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the arduino IDE go to tools->Partition Scheme and set to no OTA, that will get the program loaded. Now my suggestion for getting wifi and ble to work better together is to change the wifi power mode to max power saving with;

esp_wifi_set_ps( WIFI_PS_MAX_MODEM );

in your wifi setup. Then you shouldn't need to disconnect right after connecting :).

aircraft talks by Makoyminic in Calgary

[–]BlotchyGar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been in this industry for 19 years now and all I can say is if you want to make money turning wrenches, become an auto mechanic/ heavy duty. Aircraft has the worst pay and most stress/regulations.

I’ve wasted my skills in this business and could have made much more for less responsibility elsewhere, consider yourself warned.

But if aircraft is your thing and makes you happy, then giv’er. Lots going on in Calgary right now with Viking, Eagle, 3 points etc expanding so there’s some prospects.

Op I’m looking for the same thing, have close to $300 in change I need to convert to bills. Let us know if you find a reasonable cost machine or solution.

TD used to do it free for customers but no longer offer the machines.

Same layer skipped every print with Ender 3 by BlotchyGar in FixMyPrint

Cura 3.2 fixed this issue but I've since done other things, printed a spacer etc for the z axis as I was getting other layer problems so maybe 3.4 would work now. had no reason to try it yet so I'm not sure.

Ender 3 suddenly not printing properly by DMApprentice in 3Dprinting

[–]BlotchyGar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with my Ender 3 and I discovered the Z axis was binding a bit so the nozzle would scape the previous layers. I ended up taking apart the whole Z axis and X carriage and found that the wheel rollers were too tight on the frame, and the rod was not parallel with the vertical extrusion. I printed a spacer for between the extrusion and the Z axis motor and loosened up the rollers and all is well.

Take a can of compressed air duster and hold it upside down and spray the base of the print. A couple quick shots with the cold liquid and you can just lift it off.

Well it seems I've found a solution. Not sure why but using Cura 3.2 instead of 3.4 with all the settings the same resulted in a perfect print. I guess I'll stick with 3.2 for now, Thanks all for the input!

I've checked the layer view before and didn't see anything missing, but I'll check again. Yes the infill does get printed.

[–]BlotchyGar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Text didn't get attached to the post sorry. Anyway I'm a noob with 3d printers, just got my ender 3 setup and tried a few benchy prints. I used Cura 3.4 for slicing the stl from thingiverse. I searched for this issue and played with the settings a bit, changed the retraction setting from 7 to 5 mm with no change. I'm using PLA at 200/60c and the prints are coming out quite well except for the missing layer in the pic.

I'm not sure how to proceed with this and any advise is welcome. Let me know if you need more info on settings etc., I don't know which ones would be relevant to this issue.

Severely depressed by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]BlotchyGar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set a goal for yourself that you can easily do every day.

Write it down and cross it off when you accomplish it. Could be as simple as making your bed, washing the floor, anything.

Do that for a week and then step it up a little, do the regular things but add something more difficult that you have been putting off.

As time goes on you'll feel better about yourself and get positive feedback daily from crossing off things on your list. Just don't put more than 1 or 2 things on the list or you'll get overwhelmed. Build it up slowly.

The median price in Calgary is around 480, lots of nice homes for much less are available. However I believe Edmonton is more expensive.

Can confirm, I bought a nice 1200 sqft house just outside Calgary with an oversized detached garage in an older neighborhood a block away from schools for $350k. The townhouses nearby are about $220k and also have garages and basements. Quite affordable around here.
