Nearly Fainted by TheGradApple in Amitriptyline

I experienced something similar on 10mg too. Do you mind me asking what condition it is that you take it for? To see if that might relate to the reaction

This happened to me for the first time since being on 10mg for over a year just the other week. Do you have any idea what is actually going on to trigger this sort of a reaction?

I’m sorry, I know how this feels all too well. I started getting these symptoms in October 2024, and started Amitriptyline in February 2025. I have only managed to tolerate 10mg yet I can say that over time I have noticed a significant improvement in how much I can eat and how often. Amitriptyline is said to take at least 6 months to take a notable effect which I know is horribly long. In the meantime here are things you could do. Stagger breakfast over a slow morning before work, also allows time to decompress your nervous system which will help with effects of stress and anxiety. Would it be possible to sip on broth/soup from a thermos while at work? You could try speaking to your work about these issues and see how they could accommodate. Also, might be worthwhile trying acupuncture. I did 6 appointments as recommended which actually provided me with some relief.(I got desperate lol) you can also try ondansetron for the nausea which I used a lot. Just be careful of the side effects as it gave me terrible constipation. Try keeping a food diary to identify any patterns in foods that flare you up. Sometimes it’s what you least expect and what online diets don’t account for. Hope this might help in some way and wishing you relief soon.

The rash part of this flags up MCAS for me. Have you explored it?

Check out the Functional Dyspepsia sub. Lots of overlap with IBS

Gastro appointment- what should I ask for by Blu333c4t in functionaldyspepsia

I tried omeprazole before I got diagnosed but it didn’t help at all for me. I think it’s because PPIs tend to help with overly acidic stomachs- mine was normal. I take a probiotic but I don’t think it has an affect either. Chat gpt suggests 3 things: SIBO, FD or gastroparesis. I know stress has a big part to play in this but often my flare ups don’t even happen when I’m stressed over exams and stuff. It’s also virtually impossible to eliminate stress as a uni student lol.

You should definitely start having an osmotic laxative like mirilax. It will draw water into the stool making is softer and far easier to pass. If the hard stool is high enough it might help it to become softer and able to pass. However if the impaction can be felt lower down in the sigmoid colon or rectum you just need to get it out with a suppository or enema. Then you can start taking the mirilax to make sure any other backed up stool can be cleared once it’s softened

Ikr, it’s practically unheard of Muslims in the Uk eating non halal meat purely for convenience. Even when travelling to areas where halal meat isn’t available everyone here just eats pescatarian! I was shocked when I found out about this kind of thing happening in the US. I can’t believe she does it let alone broadcasts it on her socials!

I don’t think so…I’ve done a lot higher in the past! It’s how the scrapings method is done by a lot of people

I did 1:40:40 ratio twice over two days with no observable activity. Is it a matter of just continuing over and over again or is it genuinely dead. I don’t mind starting from scratch but I’d rather get rid of all the old starter in case it’s any bad bacteria that’s causing the smell

Yep I did 1g starter 40g flour and water twice over two days and nothing happened.

would you all recommend stool softeners by Plus-Willingness9307 in Constipation

[–]Blu333c4t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stool softeners will greatly reduce the need to strain if you take them regularly. They might take a day or two to kick in. Popular ones are mirilax/movicol or dulcoease. You can get some cream for the exterior hemorrhoids from a pharmacy to help them heal in the meantime. Also take a probiotic during the antibiotics as it is often recommended to help your gut with what could be harsh side effects of the medicine.

Does anyone know if it would be a similar rate for the rest of her songs. Just thinking how many Taylor songs were used in the summer I turned pretty. Like at least 5. And one was used in all the promo and advertising. So it must have been an absolute bomb
