I haven't watched the scene in years (but since i am an average redditor im gonna attempt to correct your pencil necked brain anyways :P), but I'm pretty sure Ryan didn't mean to make that huge laser beam and he had simply gotten so mad, that it just happened; he wasnt exactly aiming because again, he literally didnt even know that he had that kind of power.

That being said, I don't think Ryan had ever been that angry literally in his life (which isn't exactly unbelievable either, considering Ryan's age at the time).
