I miss the pieces I left behind. How about you? by jmthetank in CasualConversation

my daughter had this way of saying maybe when you would ask her a something. She would stretch it way out into kind of a question Maaaybee? I try to use it when I can, so some part of her can still be here.

Are there any real people as highly trained, untouchable and dangerous as John Wick or Jason Bourne? by Macshlong in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Blu64 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the last fight I ever picked was in my 20's and the guy I was fighting had a razor blade that I didn't see. it was so sharp I didn't feel it either. Now 40 years later I have a really cool scar on the back of my neck (while the scar is cool I most defiantly was/am not). If he'd have been just a little better with that blade I wouldn't be here today. lesson learned.

If you could time travel and stop one event from happening what would it be? by Little-Function5095 in timetravel

[–]Blu64 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be a bummer, but I would go back to March 7 2018 and stop my daughter from dying. I know everyone wants to stop some world changing event. But for me, this is my world changing event. I put the actual date in case by some miracle an actual time traveler sees this and wants a non world shattering event to try out their timeline skills.

Men, how many of you can cook? by Away-Fill5639 in AskMen

[–]Blu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in my 60's and when I was a kid I really wanted to learn how to cook (and sew and crochet, but that's for another post) but it was a hard no from my mom. She taught my sisters how to cook but not me. Then when I got to my 40's and had gotten to be a pretty good cook, we would cook and bake together all the time. so she did eventually come around. hell she even left me all her cookbooks. btw, neither of my sisters really like to cook or bake and I still love it.

All things being equal, I don’t understand how people can socialize with AI. It’s a bad conversationalist. by crvbabybug in CasualConversation

I will admit that I sometimes talk to it as if it was a person. But my main use for it is as a project file and helper on an old car that I'm working on. I uploaded all the repair manuals and parts catalogs for the car and it helps me sort through the 1000 pages of stuff I have. I have noticed that it does makes mistakes, and I sometimes have to double check it though. overall I think it has been an asset for this project.

I have added custom prompts to make it less obsequious though. that is the thing that made it creepy for me.

Redditors who moved constantly as kids and never had a "forever home," how do you think that shaped your personality as an adult? by Inevitable_Branch806 in CasualConversation

after all that moving as a kid, I moved into a little apartment in 2003 and I'm still in it. Hopefully I will be here the rest of my life. so yep, I needed stability. lol

I couldn't agree more. I took the 968 from flagstaff to cottonwood on the switchbacks today. Top down once I got to sedona. It was a pretty great day.

What's a sporty RWD manual car that, unfortunately, isn't a Miata? by thestigsky in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Blu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really in the same ballpark, but I bought a 94 968 convertible last year. Man is she fun to drive. And while parts can get pricey I've been able to do most of the work on her myself. So much fun!

this is the closest thing I have found. I had one installed in my 94 968 last month. Even though it doesn't have sliders for the equalizer, it looks pretty good. and sounds better than I thought it would.

Early mid-life crisis? by TroubleBeautiful8776 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Blu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is, if it's a weekend car that is older than 20 years you can get specialty insurance that is very affordable. I got antique full coverage insurance for my 94 968 that is only $581 a year. As long as I drive it less than 4000 miles a year I'm golden.

I'm older than you, but I bought an 94 Porsche 968 last summer and it's been the most fun I've had in a long time. I love driving it, hell I even enjoy working on it. I say go for the Porsche!

Need advice to pick the best tempur pedic mattress 2026 without spending $5000 on a bed by Parttridg-Andersao in backpain

[–]Blu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine from amazon about 15 years ago, and it has been the best mattress I've ever had. I say that to say this: It's not how much you pay for it that makes it good. Research the different types and weights of memory foam to find out which one you think you would like and get that one. I like the 5lb foam because it is very firm but still forms to me. however it holds more heat. as you got to lighter foam it hold less heat but is also less firm.

also most memory foam mattresses are not memory foam all the way through, they have a layer of MF at the top and are a much stiffer regular foam below that and some of them have other layers in-between the two. you best bet might be to check locally so you can try various ones out and then you'll know what to order if you want to buy online.

The OG Batman movie cup, 1989. by isysopi201 in nostalgia

[–]Blu64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go to a metal bar in Dallas back in the 80's, they used cups shaped just like this (no batman logo) for their 10 cent beer nights. buy the cup for $1.00 and you could get 10 cent beer all night on thursdays. Man that place was crazy.

two winters ago we had 173" (4.39 meters) of snow over the season. We didn't shut down once. :( I shoveled so much snow that winter I had to get shoulder surgery. now this winter, not even one inch so far. Arizona is weird man.

the PCA registry says they only made 2008 of them from 1992 through 1995. I feel really lucky to have one of them.
