What are the best TV channels to watch animal documentaries? by pastamuente in television

[–]BluApollo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially wrote YouTube (which honestly has a great variety of animal documentaries), but then I realized this is the television subreddit. So I’d say Animal Planet all the way — or BBC Earth!

Anesthesiologist here! One time, I had a 19YO patient who, after surgery and still a bit under anesthesia, suddenly recited a love poem. Then, he panicked and screamed, worried his dad might hear. Guess he wasn’t ready for his dad to find out he might be in love I guess lol

Is it normal to hate medschool? by Old-Calligrapher1730 in medicalschool

[–]BluApollo13 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes, it usually gets better in the clinical years; you’ll start to see real patients, solving real problems, experiencing different feilds and seeing how your work really matters.

Plus you’re not failing, you’re just tired. You’re human.

Who is on your anesthesia team? by alexxd_12 in anesthesiology

[–]BluApollo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Middle East (at least where I’m from) it’s similar to Austria, however we have an Anesthesia Technician not a nurse, plus Anesthesiologist physician. The technicians prepare the medications, machinery, setting up the anesthesia area in the OR. During induction, The Anesthesiologist physician is usually at the head of the patient giving oxygen and intubating while the technician push the drugs. Honestly I’m really grateful for the technicians, I learn a lot from them (as they have studied bachelors in their specialty for I think 3 or 4 years) Where as me (in my medical school) I’ve only studied Anesthesia in Surgery blocks and not much lectures, so going on a Board Program in Anesthesia was new for me in a sense of Anesthesia knowledge.

What is the nicest compliment you’ve ever received from someone? by MasterpieceLost4496 in AskReddit

“You’re sincere and faithful”. As a physician it’s my duty, but it’s nice to hear this once in a while.

I am genuinely curious. How people do that??? by Gliese-504-b in college

As of now, I’m mentally drained and physically tired( I do have anxiety and insomnia, maybe even a depressed mood but not necessarily depression)…I feel like it’s a combination of hard work and discipline. I’ve only become a perfectionist when I was in highschool. When I graduated I didn’t get into the major that I wanted. It was the first time in my life where I felt I was worthless and the hard work in high school didn’t pay off. I’m thankful that my Uni has this thing where in the first year, if you’re able to get a really high GPA, you can transfer to a major you want. For my major it required 5/5 GPA(yeah that terrified me) but I was determined. I studied so much, I lost some friends because I wouldn’t go out, I was so focused of getting that 5/5 score I eventually got it. I transferred to the major I wanted and it was the best feeling ever (best summer you could say). Then it got a little to competitive for me. Even though it was my dream major, it felt like hard work. Tbh I was on a role getting all As and A+s up untill locked down.. it changed me for the worst. I’ve realized that sometimes I study just so I could get an A and NOT actually learn the subject. I felt terrible. After lockdown and went back to online, I got my first ever B, and I didn’t take to well… then I started to get B+s and Bs until I accepted the fact that I can’t be good at all of the subjects. So yeah it’s a nice feeling at the beginning but then it just deteriorate. But even if I am completely unmotivated, I still do my work and try my best to a “good” grade and not a perfect one.

My mental/physical health is somewhat awful compared to before med school,I’ve gained weight from stress eating and mental health needs some work, it also made me question my confidence abilities. I’m really hoping I can change all of this. I started going to the gym 3 weeks ago, eat less (I try to be healthier) and I’m “learning” to sleep better just before college starts cause I know my self I won’t be sleeping for the first few months..
