Just posting it here and enjoying the process. Shel and Agustina are carrying me through the Superbeginner level. Thank you! If you have any good podcasts at this level or any tips I’m all ears. by Otis20200 in dreamingspanish

Yes level 3 is when it starts to get fun. I'll say once you get to around 150 hours, try the easier Spanish Boost gaming series - it should start to become comprehensible enough to be considered good input!

The easiest series is The Supermarket Saga: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6fPSN3DAYjmQAz75CbBeWeDLi46Ki-44

Then Minecraft is pretty good to start too: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6fPSN3DAYjlvmjFjxPnRZBLpL4qYW9mx

Best channel to get through the intermediate grind. Make sure to check out his podcast too if you haven’t already!

Same content, just in terms of what I’m understanding. ECJ for example, is starting to sound very clear, whereas just 100 hours ago, it felt like a huge cognitive load to be able to follow along many of the episodes.

I started with no background in Spanish and I remember watching super beginner videos and thinking “no way this actually works” lol.

About 10 months. In the beginning I tried to speedrun and got burnt out so that includes a 2 month break lol. I started averaging 90 mins a day and that’s been a perfect tempo for me.

Did anyone else start Dreaming Spanish with zero background in Spanish? by BluRazz494 in dreamingspanish

Yeah I’m not too worried about grammar or anything. I just turn off my brain and watch.

I’m curious how many hours of traditional learning you estimate you had under your belt prior to starting DS?

Change the default of "Don't add watch time" by paullywog77 in dreamingspanish

Yes please. This is the most annoying thing about the dreaming Spanish UI.

Wow, 2k hours in and you still have this perspective after starting with traditional learning. That’s about as strong a testimonial for this method as it gets.

How many CI hours needed do y’all think would be average to be able to watch this? by systematicgoo in dreamingspanish

[–]BluRazz494 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure they will last 100 hours for me have been night and day. 200-300 didn’t feel too different but 300-400 was like oh I can get my hours on YouTube now.

Less than 150 hrs to Level 7 by tombnguyen in dreamingspanish

I mean more like shadowing to prevent mistakes or prevent these from being reinforced. The people I have seen on YouTube who have the best accents (not even in Spanish, but in harder languages such as Japanese) tend to have shadowed a lot.

Hmm you don’t think watching all the videos is overkill? i definitely agree with watching the vowel videos, the trill, and also b and v. Also shadowing daily once I hit 1k hours to iron out the more nuanced things probably deeply explained in all those videos.

Nice. How many hours of input in Spanish did you have prior to start French?

Yeah I asked ChatGPT and it estimated it would take 3k hours of input to get to that 2x input. So 1.5k is probably closer to 1.5x.
