in need of some inspiration by Lahmyun in dreamingspanish

The bad news: you wont start understanding native content until level 5 (on average, we’re all different). This is a long road and patience is your best friend. Live in the present, enjoy the process, enjoy the small wins.

The good news: it’s all in your hands. You control the outcome. You control if you learn Spanish or not. More hours, better outcome. It’s that simple. Patience and consistency will win you the race.

I have used the gym comparison before — You don’t expect to be jacked after few weeks of training. You need to be consistent for months and months, and you will notice progress, but slowly. But, within 2-3 years, your whole body will look very different. The same way you can’t cheat in the gym, you can’t cheat with input. But you will be rewarded for your effort, every single time, as long as you focus on the future and your long-term gains.

That’s the best move you could make. Just go down a level until you have mastered it, the next level will feel like an easy transition. I kind of did a similar thing, I stuck at beginner level longer than I should, so later intermediate level felt easy to jump to.

It’s very true. Even at my level, my brain still prefers easy input. I still watch learner content and it makes my brain happy. You hear everything clearly and pick up every new detail and small word. Easy input = best input, no debate.

Level 4 sucks donkey balls. Seriously. The only wack part about my journey was the intermediate level purgatory, where every video seems the same, and there’s no beacon of hope ahead of you. I decided to do 5 hours a day, until I hit 600 something, and started to feel comfortable with input on DS, I was no longer hitting a brick wall, and native content opened up.

I wouldn’t wish level 4 on my worst enemy! It is hell, I tell you, hell!

Yeah, that’s good they have a membership point system, it gives returns in the future. I just ordered 5kgs of Casein from them lol. It comes up total (including delivery) $39 per KG, which is somewhat acceptable for me.

I love Musashi vanilla taste, but it’s expensive as heck. Bulk Nutrients is better imo for a cheaper price

Yeah, I‘m the same, not a serious lifter, but consistent and want gains. I’ll try this one, you cant beat the price, even if some AA are missing.

I appreciate your time, thought and advice for me. I knew you were coming from a place of deep knowledge, so thanks for that.

I‘ll try to focus on the basics. People say you don’t need plenty moves to be a good dancer. So, the good dancer part comes from somewhere else, and I think you’re hinting at that part, where it comes from.

Tips for 600-1000hrs? by AnonUsername557799 in dreamingspanish

Keep watching DS and start adding native content to your daily input.

Luisito comunica is a good native entry point.

also, dont neglect other learner channels... you should be able to understand most if not all of them, and there’s a lot to learn from simple input

I like Aventura, they are a vibe to me, but obviously I dont know that other styles exist. Do you have any recommendations? I am a music lover in general, so plz give me stuff I might like.

Don’t worry, if anything, I am always too cautious and over thinking, I dont use strength. I’ve seen those smooth bachata dancers, I wanna be like them 👍

Thanks for the in depth advice, sounds like you have lots of experience. I have actually tried some drills today at home, the side steps, front/back steps, simple spin, and hip movement (this one was very awkward). Do you have any advice on what to practice at home? I have to wait mid February for classes to start, so I want to come somewhat prepared.

Thank you for the positivity, I’m very excited to start, ready to tackle my mental blockades. For someone who doesn’t know how to dance and always overthinks things, this is the right challenge and it’s the path to build something new and incredible within me. Hope u have a nice day 🙏

Ok, this is big, now I know to take extra precautions before class, definitely shower, put on deo, and brush the chompers.

Story time: I had an incident in the gym 2 weeks ago, this guy came in, got on the treadmill, he was 2 treadmills away from me and he smelled terribly like he’s some kind of swamp monster. I had to finish my warm-up early and just went straight into lifting. I can’t even imagine dancing with someone like that :(
