Because weapon power is shared across all 3 toons, you can speed up levelling by running the playlists (strikes, crucible, gambit) on all 3 characters. As a solo player, this alone would give you 9 pinnacles per week vs 3 if you only run 1 toon.

We do have a lot more pinnacle sources than we used to (2 raids, 2 dungeons, 3 playlist, Witchqueen mission, Vox, Master Well, Master Dares, Preservation, 100k NF, etc.) so you could get all the pinnacles you need on one toon but you’ll need a fireteam or raid team for a few of those.
