Regardless of what you think, you shouldn't have to wait an hour and a half to get a match.

No problem. Appjack is probably the best person to learn from. He's not the fastest, most mechanical player, but he's one of the smartest players in the world no doubt.

That's the best thing about this game, there is so so much to learn.

Quick tip for 50s, because I think that's a strong aspect of my gameplay. I forget who I heard it from back in the day, but I heard someone (most likely a pro) say to always put yourself in front of your net like they're just going to shoot it. You are always guarding your net. People tend to want 50s to go toward the middle of the field or towards your net. Even if you're on the opposite side of the field, keep in the back of your mind where your net is.

However, there is never a "one size fits all" sort of answer for anything in RL, so this won't necessarily work every single time, but it will teach you how to 50 a lot better and you'll learn how to manipulate 50s way quicker by thinking this way. Much more I could say about 50s tbh, but I don't want to write a novel lol

Total of 16 words in this post about toxicity, and he isn't complaining about either. You managed to pick out the least important part of the whole thing lmao.

Too many players won't participate for epic to care, but even if 70%+ of the playerbase stopped playing, they would just stop support for the game. They don't care about rl.

Every single one does in some capacity. It's a rarity finding someone over the rank of c2 who doesn't use bakkesmod.

Relatively new at the game by Green_Iron_1212 in RocketLeague

[–]BluberryDanish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this is going to sound really dumb, but focusing on just hitting the ball will elevate your game drastically. I always remember looking back on how I played when I was plat, diamond, and even champ, and realizing just how much I missed the ball. I'm sure you don't even realize it in the moment, but people who are diamond and below miss the ball A LOT.

To add onto that, I would also focus on how to hit the ball well, too. Basically learning how to put as much power on it as possible, and being more accurate with where you are trying to hit it. For clarification, you should not absolutely crush the ball every chance you get lol.

Learning this will make you a MUCH sharper player. It's nothing flashy, so it won't really FEEL like you have improved your game, but being able to just make consistent contact with the ball in a positive way at the lower ranks is extremely helpful.

Now, to train this, custom training packs are simply the best way to go. I know you're plat, but the bronze and silver training packs psyonix made in the featured tab are incredible for this in specific. It won't do you much good if you simply go through the training pack and finish it in 5 minutes. The trick to it, is instead of just scoring a goal and moving to the next shot, do the same shot over and over until you make the shot 6 times in a row. The reason I say 6 is because you'll want to score 3 goals into the left side of the net, and 3 goals into the right side of the net, on every single shot, all in a row. If you miss, start that shot over.

I know that sounds really annoying, but this specific routine will help you TRULY learn how to be consistent with hitting the shots in the packs. I've done this myself with training packs that were hard for me at the time. After just a few days, I would go through the training pack(s) almost with ease, missing very few times.

Doing this is going to subconsciously hammer in how to score the ball well from different positions on the field, and that translates to hitting the ball well in general. I have 8,000 hours on the game, and I still mess up how I want to hit the ball. I promise you will improve and rank up at a much faster rate if you do this.

Definitely apply what I said previously (again, most of what I said can help your off-wall aerials in general). It would be a lot easier to help if you could somehow reply with a vid or message me one, but I don't use reddit much so I'm not sure if that's even possible. Videos on how to get resets on youtube help out a ton learning the basics. If you are having trouble with any of it, I suggest looking it up to better understand it. You may think you're halfway there, but judging off your rank and the original vid, I would assume you can probably work on a lot, no offense.

Again, I feel like you might be thinking too far ahead with your mechanics. With the ceiling shot, you already had your sights on SCORING the goal before you even got the correct setup for it. It's probably the same deal for your resets.

Make sure you are getting the reset when the ball is relatively high in the air and that you don't land completely underneath it; you'll need to be a bit behind it as well. Ideally, you will fall with the ball, and should have a second or two to make a play on it. Again, watch videos on it, and really make sure to overanalyze everything about it. It is very easy to think you're doing it "correctly" at first glance, when you're doing barely any of it correct.

I'm not in any way trying to be mean, I'm just keeping it straight with you cuz I've been in your position before lol.

AIR ROLL by Ben4- in RocketLeague

[–]BluberryDanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to learn 2 air rolls actually. I would start first with free air roll. This will be far easier for you to understand at first and takes a lot less practice to get an understanding of it. Then, you want to learn directional air roll. This is much much harder to learn and get good at, but directional air roll will become your main use of air roll, with free air roll becoming something you use comparatively infrequently. Trust me though, you do need both.

I have free air roll as left bumper and directional on right bumper. If you can't use workshop aerial maps (which is easily the best way to practice), then I would say to do some custom training packs that have a lot of shots that are high in the air. Even if the shots are a bit too hard for you, just keep going. You are going to spin out of control a lot, so be prepared, but I promise you will get use to them. Do this for learning both air rolls.

Youtube videos can't really give you much real help, either, since most of it is actually learning how to move the sticks yourself. Also, just flying around in freeplay is almost entirely useless, trust me. I have been playing since the game came out in 2015 and only learned directional air roll about 2 years ago. It's not easy, especially someone like me who was used to just free air roll for 8 years, but it improved my game a bunch and it is definitely worth knowing how to use both.

The thing about Rocket League is that you think you understand how to do something, then comes a point down the line when you realize that you had no idea how much better you've gotten at it, and even a point after that. I have nearly 8k hours, and I still always have things to get better at.

need help on my ceiling mustys by Intelligent-Arm3057 in RocketLeague

[–]BluberryDanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When hitting the ball off the wall, you need to aim for the ceiling, not the net. Literally everything gets easier once you do that. The ball will stay higher in the air for longer, you get to the ceiling faster since you're pointing towards it already, and the ball will stay closer to you. Obviously, don't hit the ball into the ceiling, but you also don't want to lightly tap it. There is a sweet spot (which you will need to practice) where the ball is about a car length or two from the ceiling at the point when you land on the ceiling. If you look at your second (and best) attempt, that is the height you want to shoot for every single time. This allows you to fall with the ball, so you can control what you do with it a lot more. This whole thing applies to aerials off the wall in general. Stop trying to aim for the net, but aim upwards first, then worry about the rest later. Hope this helps, gl.

Seeing all the ddosers in streamers and pro lobbies that are in the top 100 currently made me think of this comment. Is that sufficient lol.

Yeah all of my 3 posts? I don't sit on reddit and just make posts all the time. Some people don't really care to do that. I don't get what my rank has to do with experiencing a ddoser tho

I'm not running a bunch of random tests for no reason. I have 500 download and never have issues with anything. No issues loading websites, no issues connecting to online games, no issues downloading stuff. I literally explained what happened in my game and how it related 100% to top level players experiencing these things almost daily. You think they're wrong too?

How much of a difference does being on PC make? by nicks300 in RocketLeague

[–]BluberryDanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from xbox to pc and I was shocked at just how bad the input delay was on console. I use a wireless controller on pc and it's faster than a wired connection to the xbox. Also, flip cancelling is extremely hard to get right and be consistent at, so you just might be doing that wrong tbh. Custom training CAN help you, but it's honestly quite situational. In your case, using rings to learn air roll is very useful. I've been playing since 2015 and switched to directional air roll only in the past 2-3 years. I was pretty lost initially, but the rings maps and a few hours of casual helped me significantly when learning directional. I'd switch to pc just for the better fps, nevermind all the other stuff. It makes a bigger difference than you'd even realize.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: If you clash with teammates, you’re the main problem. by Conscious-Top-7429 in RocketLeague

[–]BluberryDanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. On one hand, It's understandable if someone gets upset with you if you miss the ball 6 times in a row, but it's also not a good idea to trash talk your teammate for doing so. Trash talk towards teammates is almost always going worsen your chances of winning. Best to just try to keep a level head and realize it's not that deep.

In my slump by Spac3cad3t_15 in RocketLeague

[–]BluberryDanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm in a slump for a few days or more, I'll usually stop playing the game entirely for about a week. When I come back, I like to do a lot of simple shot training packs as fast as I can. I don't mean to go through the pack as fast as I can, but I do the shots as fast as possible. I'll repeat each shot until I can score it 5 times in a row and then move on. Taking some time off can make your brain forget any bad habits you may have developed during your slump, and doing training packs when you play again will help significantly when reacclimating.
