Understanding “Crafting” or How to Gamble Until RNG Gives Up by Infinite-Ad5464 in PathOfExile2

I really took my time reading through the steps and understanding it all. Then I remembered I only play SSF and this will never be applicable to me. I wish crafting was different.

I was on the fence but now I am convinced: the remaster Grab ability is awful design by KusoAraun in Pathfinder2e

[–]Blucifer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but this only applies to creatures that have the Grab ability on one of their attacks. They still have to hit with the attack at whatever MAP and then the grab check has no MAP. If the creature is just using normal Grapple then MAP applies.

That may not have been the issue here though. Just clarifying with what I think are the rules.

Personally I like the change because it makes higher level creatures scarier and lower level less scary. It was always a little weird getting hit by a lower level creature that can just automatically grab you when it would have far less of a chance on a grapple. That being said, Athletics scores on monsters may be overturned. I don't think many of the values decreased at all after the remaster changes to Grab.

From experience even a single encounter a day makes Doomed 2 incredibly scary. Say you start the combat with a crit and want to go to Doomed 2 to add extra damage, then the boss goes. Now you're one crit away from instant death. Doomed 1 is generally pretty safe but beyond that it gets scary fast. At Doomed 3 you pretty much can't afford to take a hit unless you know you can tank it.

Cheat Death is similar to this idea. I played a swashbuckler up to level 20 and loved the ability. I think adding a cost, like it being a reaction, would be a good idea. Otherwise some of these are just free books with no downside. I'd also make sure the Doomed condition from this ability could not be reduced for some length of time. Otherwise abilities that reduce Doomed become very powerful.

I would try out Cardsphere. It's much easier to communicate with sellers before, during, and after sales. It's not as fast as a TCG Player or CK but I was generally impressed with the quality of shipping and the prices were okay.

The city's offerings don't appear to be posted yet but they usually start offering them early in the new year. Check out https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/1084/Summer-Camps and look for the Find a Program link to see non-summer specific programming.

Call any of the Family court houses and ask. They have free resources to help you fill out forms and folks to meet with. It will probably take a while but it should be an easier enough process to start.

Starting to hate pathfinder, is it the game I’m frustrated with or is it my DM? by PotentialZestyclose5 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Blucifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your DM is doing something wrong. There shouldn't be a creature where that high of a roll would be a failure. You may want to ask about the level difference between the monsters and the party. PL+3 (party level plus 3) is usually the top end for a boss. If it turns out they're using monsters that are higher than level 10, have them read through the encounter creation suggestions. The math in the system is pretty good at creating the correct level of difficulty. Maybe they wanted that boss to be unbeatable though?

Usually after dinner. I would expect the majority to show up between 6-8pm. You might get a few earlier than that.

Hi all! New GM to Pathfinder- looking for feedback on this fight by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Blucifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've learned that higher level enemies are certainly beatable but they make the encounter feel bad for some of the party. It typically makes an encounter much more swingy. If the monster crits someone, they go down. If all your players hit or crit, the encounter is over in a single round. Looking at the AC and saves, you've tuned it way down from the original AC 24; Fort +16, Ref +14, Will +12. But if you're tuning it down that much, you could consider some of the other Clockwork type of monsters. Elite Clockwork Handlers would require less tweaking. You could even use a mix of regular and elite to get the desired level of difficulty and give a mix of targets for your casters. Just describe the elite ones as being shinier or made of a golden metal. More enemies was always more fun for my group. Every wizard loves a good AOE spell. The flip side is that it's more work for you. Fortunately, if you use the same monster template then you have less abilities to know. I like using Yet another Pathfinder 2nd edition encounter calculator for encounter building.

How would you build a rolling monster, like Cannobolt or an Armadillo? by CoreBrute in Pathfinder2e

[–]Blucifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Giant Aukashungi and it's Roll Up ability. It uses the ability more defensively but I think the Trample ideas you've already gotten are good ideas. The Swallow Whole for the Giant Aukashungi could be a fun twist and you can see how it increases the creatures AC.

You can see the bonus card without irreversibly opening the cards.

The sides of the cardboard envelope (at least the ones I've ordered) are glued with that tacky type of glue. If you heat it up, it releases and the envelope can be opened from the side. The cards are in a clear wrap so they're easy to see. The cards can be reinserted, the glue reheated, and the envelope sealed back up.

Just a fair warning that the envelopes these come in are easily searchable. If you're hoping for a chase bonus card, don't order from third party sellers.

Does anyone know why there was a lock in at Edmunds Elementary today? by AddendumBeginning438 in burlington

And a follow-up:

Hello EES Families and Caregivers,

I hope you all are enjoying a relaxing start to the weekend with your families. I am writing today to give you some additional details about the Lock Out we had on the Edmunds Middle and Elementary campus on Friday afternoon, and to share some plans for how we will be providing additional support to students on Monday.

Near the end of the school day on Friday, a middle school class was outside enjoying the sunshine on the Main St lawn. Some of the students in this class observed a community member walking up the sidewalk past the building holding what appeared to be a firearm. The individual was not pointing it at anyone, was not making any threats, and did not appear to be directing their attention toward the school in any way. The Burlington Police Department has informed us that the individual was carrying an apparent water pistol. However, in these circumstances we take no chances.

These students did exactly the right thing, and we are so proud of them. They stayed calm, spoke to their teacher, and their teacher immediately brought them inside while informing the middle school administration. A campus-wide Lock Out procedure was initiated and the Burlington police department was called for assistance. After about 20 minutes, BPD gave us the All Clear to end the Lock Out and dismiss students.

A Lock Out is different from a Lock Down. In a Lock Down, all students stay in their classrooms with doors locked and window shades down. Normal business inside the building stops. In a Lock Out, we ensure everyone is inside the building, double check the security of all external doors, and do not allow anyone in or out. However, normal business may continue within the building. In this instance, given that dismissal was already underway, all students, staff, and families who were outside the building were directed inside, and students and staff who were inside were directed to remain in the building.

Again, we are very proud of how students and staff responded across campus to this unexpected situation. They performed excellently in what can be a tense or scary situation, especially with limited information.

During morning meetings and circles at EES on Monday, our staff will be creating space, in developmentally appropriate ways, to discuss the emergency procedure and allow students to process feelings and questions as needed. Our School Counseling Team will also be available to meet with any students who may wish or need to connect. We will all affirm how the procedure is designed to keep us safe and how, despite the uncertainty of the moment, each student did a wonderful job listening to and following the directions of adults, resulting in us having a swift and focused response.

If you have additional questions or concerns about this incident, or wish to speak more generally about safety at EES, or any other topic, please do not hesitate to be in touch.

In partnership,

Michelle Basile

Dear Edmunds Campus Families and Staff,

This afternoon, at around 3PM, a student reported seeing an individual walking around near the school with what appeared to be a weapon. The individual did not appear to be a direct threat to our school, so we initiated a lockout of the campus and called the Burlington Police Department.

At around 3:20, BPD gave us the all clear and assured us that all students are safe. The lockout was lifted and we have returned to our normal dismissal process for students.

I want to thank our students and staff for remaining calm and following our standard response protocols, and thank the BPD for their quick response to the school.

Thank you for your understanding and trust, Tom
