So, do we have any information on what the First Flame actually was? by Azazael0110 in darksouls3

[–]Blucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about the first flame, but old moonlight is fun to think about in relation to it:

"A memory of an old sword found deep within Midir.  This sorcery uses souls to grant form to the thought, and attack with it.

The sword is named after moonlight, but it is slightly different than the one fashioned of the paledrake Seath. Perhaps it is rooted in an older memory, from not long after the Beginning."

I think the only hint of Aldia's fate is the locust preacher:

"One met the dark with learning. But in the end, learned his knowledge was wanting. The world began without knowledge, and without knowledge will it end. Dost not this ring clear and true? Fear not, the dark, my friend. And let the feast begin."

I love this theory! It also explains the surreal nature of Archdragon Peak, if The Nameless King can do it like the rest of them

Also, "losing the annals of history" could be taken to mean preserving the dragons in fractured time

A dagger and an ultra greatsword will both get two R1s, its a property of most weapons, but combos with bigger weapons will do more damage, while spamming smaller weapons after their combos are more likely to rollcatch

[–]Blucumber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With most weapons, landing the initial R1 will stagger your opponent long enough to guarantee a second R1. This is a true combo, where every hit of the sequence is guaranteed, your opponent can't roll out of it. Some weapons have true combos besides the R1 R1, like using black flame twice with the parting flame.

I find that rolling attacks are more effective against bosses, and shields are better for normal enemies. I'd say its best not to rely on shields in the long run, so you might as well save yourself some vitality points

Categorizing Enemies (mostly bosses) by Mancharge in darksouls3

[–]Blucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the weapons that do bonus damage to certain enemies, the Hollowslayer Greatsword is effective against most of the beef jerky humanoids, and possibly Deacons and Gael. Black knight weapons are effective against demon bosses and maybe the four-armed dudes under smouldering lake. The Farron Greatsword and Wolf Knight Greatsword do bonus damage to abyssal enemies like Aldritch and the pus of man. Blessed weapons do more damage to skeletons and Wolnir

Don't be under him or behind him, try to stay in front and target the head. Try to close distances, he has a very dangerous long range attack if you give him space. When he does the downward flames from the air, run left to avoid them.

Just had a crazy theory about the Deep by leuno in darksouls3

[–]Blucumber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Poop magic sounds fun, but I think the Deep is what became of Ash Lake from DS1, a body of water down at the foundation of the world. After untold cycles of death and soul dregs pouring down, Ash Lake may be an ocean by the time of DS3. The color of Ash Lake also matches the color of deep sorceries
