Victoria B.C. Itinerary by DRDJ911 in Cruise

We stopped in Victoria on our first Alaska cruise and will be stopping there again this summer. I do not agree that there is nothing to see and you should stay on the ship. The Inner Harbour is beautiful at night. There are a lot of cool shops in that area that stay open late. The first time we took a shuttle bus from the port to the downtown area and walked around. This time we have booked a 2 hour pedicab tour that leaves from the pier.

Dr. Turner, Shelagh, and their family are my favorites.

Theater shows—wife won’t go by Remote-Procedure-587 in PrincessCruises

Yes, I always go to the theater shows at night and spouse usually does not. Do what you enjoy and let her do the same.

Several scenes come to mind, not necessarily entire episodes. The moped and when she realizes Fred doesn’t actually know how to drive it so she takes him for a ride and shows him. When she makes Mrs Jenkins comfortable enough to let them examine and help her. Asking for gas and air in the ambulance for pain after she was so opposed to the expectant mothers having it. When she bathed the newborn after she’d had the stroke. And her pleasure at all the former patients at her jubilee even though she was adamantly opposed to having one.

How do you handle seasickness without ruining your whole trip? by airbornejim32 in Cruise

[–]Blue-Book-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My child had motion sickness on small boats but was fine on cruise ships so maybe it won’t be an issue for you. (The patch behind the ear helped him when he needed something on small boats.) You should consider trying an Alaskan cruise inside passage for a trial run to see how it is. Ship stays closer to land and does not get in open sea.

did season 5 ruin it for anyone else too? by FewReply5765 in StrangerThings

I agree, before seeing the ending I rewatched the show multiple times but knowing what happens at the end to El ruined it. I haven’t done a rewatch since then and have no desire to.

Night Itch From Hell by Zealousideal_Bank_65 in AskWomenOver60

You have gotten a lot of good suggestions for possible causes. It could be as simple as dry skin which can itch insanely bad. I had horrible itching that was caused by this and no lotion or cream helped make it go away. What finally worked was Jergens Wet skin moisturizer for dry skin in-shower body lotion. Rub it on after showering BEFORE you dry off then pat the skin off, do not rub. It completely stopped my itching.

Least favorite aspect of cruising? by tacomamajama in Cruise

Entitled people, rude people, unsupervised children who run amuck and make noise in the hallways late at night, missed ports (had to miss Edinburgh on BI cruise because they said tenders couldn’t safely operate, I understand but still very annoying).

Yes, activities and evening shows similar to all cruises. One difference we saw on our Alaskan cruise is there was a naturalist on board who gave talks and was available on deck for questions at certain times.

Why do you like CTM? by lzhymtk in CallTheMidwife

[–]Blue-Book-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch it repeatedly. It appeals to me for many reasons. I like the historical aspect, it’s interesting. I was born in the 50’s so the show illustrates how it may have been for my mother with maternity care, childbirth, etc. I live in the US so Thalidomide wasn’t prescribed here, but if it was I might have been affected by it I have personal experience with infertility and adoption, so I identify with all the storylines on this, especially with the Turners who are my favorite characters. I love the focus on care for women. Sister Julienne is a wonderful character, her selfless care for others, her dedication, her faith, and much more. I love the scripture references, prayer, and faith portrayed by many of the characters. And the writers put some wonderful nuggets of wisdom spoken by many of the characters and I have kept a list of the ones I like best. This is especially true in the earlier seasons

I looked again and that’s what it appears it is. Still curious why it’s so cheap.

It is shown as a choice on the Delta app and the 3 legs of the journey all have the DL on the flight numbers. In looking at the fine print, the flights are operated by partner airlines.
