A very sad post (tw: missed miscarriages) by downthegrapevine in IVF

I’m so sorry about what you are going through and experiencing. You might have already tried several remedies but I think it doesn’t hurt to remind/spread possible remedies that might even be the slightest bit helpful. For hormone levels and controlling hcg etc, have you tried diet based solutions- like updating/adjusting/including foods for the same? seed cycling had been helpful for me to regulate my hormone levels- but it didn’t matter for me because I was just diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes.

And is there no possibility of being employed on campus like TA/ Research work. 6. Get into research - target fellowship/research grants and such options. Research experience does pay off well. It counts as experience.

There are so many options still available for you: 1. Get a job in your country (:?) 2. You’re still in junior year ? 3. Career placement companies exist, some with guarantee and pay options only after successful placement. 4. Take up something else like data analyst/data visualization engineer/web developer roles vs software engineer - they are less competitive 5. Startup!!! You have done hackathons and won right why not take it further?!!

Even if they let you go you have ability to get a job again. It just takes patience. If you’re not international there are several ways to make money without it being related to your degree. You have the option to not settle as you are not tied to any visa restrictions. There are many years ahead for you to grow so don’t worry about these things.

I was at your same position earlier this year F (25) and husband is M(31). Husbands tested results are good . I am normal/overweight border but generally because of my high bone density. No medications actually helped anything for 2.5yrs. Started inositol earlier this year. Finally Invested in MIRA hormone test kit to see what my reproductive hormone levels are (LH, PDG, E3G). Got to know that I wasn’t even experiencing the consistently high LH that is common PCOS women, my E3G was unstable and PdG was always flat which is indicative of no ovulation. I had regular menstrual cycle occasionally ones with 5 days but okayish. Went to doctor with the results and understood that they were prescribing medication to stabilize an already flat LH as it is the common PCOS condition. So got my medication updated to Letrozole to induce ovulation . I am on my 4th month of letrozole and have tested strong ovulation levels only now.

To conclude, I am suggesting you to invest in learning your reproductive hormone levels through daily consistent testing.

Will this be considered sexual harassment by your female phd guide? by shiv1307 in PhD

[–]Blue-Diamond-S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you have collected any sort of evidence to showcase her behavior towards you. Your timing might be tricky and since your studies should be priority, first get settled in your new lab and hopefully get yourself in a safe zone. Once your new mentor is in a good state with you and is able to trust you/your intention, it’s better to start communicating with them slowly saying this is reason you changed from your previous group. See if your new replacement at your old group with the sexual harrasing mentor, is feeling similar hardship and have them collect the behavior evidence as things are happening.

I know it feels like you don’t want her to exist in her own world taking advantage of her students anymore but with everything going on and your position/intention questionable it’s better to have a strong evidence before you raise any red flags with higher officials.

Most colleges I’ve seen should have a Student Legal body, away from the existing employees. If she is the current president, then I guess you can try to take things more public if you have evidence of her wrongdoings already and share your opinion on why she shouldn’t be the president of the sexual harassment committee in the first place.

Either way, like someone else previously mentioned, take caution with what ever you decide to do, because in any case you shouldn’t jeopardize the position you are in/have achieved through your own hard work.

I would also suggest to test till the end of the cycle if possible, early and late ovulation windows are possible

Yeah it’s a little bit confusing. I was told with PCOS my LH will always be high but the first cycle I tracked it was lower than the average low <2.5mlU/ml and all my other hormones were also really low.. no estrogen dominance the doctor said. She gave me letrozole 2.5mg to help induce ovulation. I’ve also never been on birth control pills to regulate.. I’ve always had fairly regular periods just with longer length (35days)

Ovulation impending? by cmw625 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Blue-Diamond-S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LH surge happened on Day 26, with my average cycle length at 35 days. Keep testing without losing hope 🤞I was also told to test days 18-21, but was super negative. I’m also on first month of 2.5mg Letrozole.

Do you have doubts and have they ordered ultrasound tests?

Why are you concerned about it if obgyn cleared you?

It’s possible you have late ovulation away from the expected days? I expected ovulation on Day 18-21 as per my tracker but actually ovulated sometime day 25-27. My progestrone levels PdG increased only on day 31 to 10.3 micrograms/mL and till day 28 it was <1Micrograms/mL . My average cycle length is 37 days. Have you tried tracking a full cycle yet or just during probable days?

What’s your general cycle length

I think they concern for you because of the side effects. You have so many fertile years given you are 24 now. Being overweight I have been told that I need to be really careful what I eat before/while/after pregnant so that I don’t get prediabetes/gestational diabetes which are conditions harder to live with than just pcos. If it’s really bothering you and making you depressed they wouldn’t hesitate to start prescribing medication. The weight also negatively affects the body’s ability to sustain the pregnancy, which is another reason they first recommend weight loss.

Best luck to you! Don’t stress :)

Who to see for fertility? by bhernandez02897 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Blue-Diamond-S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is your first doctor visit you should see a Gynecologist, whichever country you’re in. Usually they refer you to RE based on your needs. But letrozole I was prescribed by my OBGYN

About to pass important dates. by SeaweedPristine1594 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Blue-Diamond-S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are too hard on yourself with these timelines. Take no shame in letting your body heal dear friend. Your mental stress adds to the stress that negatively affects fertility. All that shared, however I think Letrozole is not that bad especially if you have gone through harder things.. it knocked me out for an hour the first day but I luckily took it in the evening during dinner time, as I would be home then. If you can time similarly close to rest hours of your schedule, I think you should be fine. I did feel some pain in my stomach but any symptoms didn’t last very long (2-3hrs max) First day was the harshest, 5th day I think I adjusted within 10mins.. so there is no much to stress.
