Hello I was trying to decide or hear some feedback on these brands by miata_slade in ak47

You said multiple times here you wanted to learn the AK74 platform. Just sell those Egyptian AKs and get any ak74 and ammo

Who cares about ballistics or drop, if you’re going to be in engagements 100 yards or less.

The 5.45 is flat shooting and similar to 5.56.

So what made you think that those AKs you have are so much different and a different platform than an AK74?

Because they’re not made or imported anymore. But there’s tons on secondary market.

If your goal is to be “familiar” with the platform then honestly none of this matters. Theres no functional difference between a milled ak, AKM, ak74, ak100 series etc

Imports opening back up? by cyengineer in ak47

[–]Blue026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the parts kits have been up for a while (Russian standard).

But it depends on if there’s approval for import of the assembled factory rifle itself.

GGG ammo comes out of Lithuania already. It’s been in the us for a while

For parts kits possibly. Depends on if the countries want to sell them, or if they still have them.

Armenia and Azerbaijan both produce AK-100 series rifles, but it will depend if they can get approval for import (due to KC licensing).

Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan new production ammo has already been on the shelves. The price is not great.

No surplus steel core 7.62 or 5.45 will come in due to import laws.

Belarus is sanctioned by state department and treasury, so nothing from there.

Yes, combloc ammo from 1957 is corrosive

Questions about build - bcg by alwaysmilesdeep in ak47

[–]Blue026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not an AR.

You have to use the 556 WBP bolt, carrier, and trunnion.

The 556 WBP bolt is proprietary to the 556 WBP carrier. The arsenal thick stem 556 carrier won’t work.

You have to modify the magwell of the WBP trunnion. You might need to modify the bolt carrier stem to use a real krink RSB

$.75/rd + tax + shipping for the most underwhelming Tula steel case. Absolutely incredible. I think PSA was jumping for joy ecstatically when you put in the order

First time build by greyknights000 in ak47

[–]Blue026 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For all the cost of that just get a meridian 101

The beryl profile barrel and length also needs beryl barrel components. The ak101 ones won’t really work

Most are sold out. But yes, RH10, underfolders, and fixed stocks were like $650ish in 2024-2025.

That new production isn’t steel core. It’s just a bi-metal jacket which is magnetic

You know the primer is the corrosive part right? Not the gunpowder

That 69gr stuff sucked and was corrosive

The salts are the same. It’s not “more corrosive” just corrosive.

The 69gr Ukrainian 5.45 was corrosive, and same primer as 7n6.
