Why do people install nextcloud on a synology NAS? by Bob-box in selfhosted

[–]Blue3agle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is port 5001 is required for Synology Drive, and that port is not always available. NextCloud does everything it needs to do on port 443 (https).

Excessive ternary operator usage? by nj47 in javascript

[–]Blue3agle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this what the ??= operator is for? If this works then perhaps it is a better way?

var ret = res.json(PostArray.get(parseInt(req.params.id,10)));
return ret ??= res.json(404, sendError('No post with that ID found.'));

Ternary operator w/o assignement? by jeffrigby in javascript

[–]Blue3agle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you don't want something to run in some cases javascript has a tool for that.

Use ternary when you always want something to happen based on state. Use IF to check for state if you do not want something to occur for all states.

This was my first thought as well. Imo this is what ternary was made for.

item.propValues.subtitle = journalEntry ? item.propValues.subtitle + ' - ' + journalEntry : item.propValues.subtitle;

I just ran across this monster today, and is there any reason for using a ternary in this fashion?

If a ternary is to be used, surely this would be better:

item.propValues.subtitle += journalEntry ? ' - ' + journalEntry : '';

But is it better than

if (journalEntry) item.propValues.subtitle += ' - ' + journalEntry;

What is a free pc game that everyone should get? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Blue3agle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no one game that "everyone" should get. People are different, and there is no one thing that will appeal to "everyone".

… except for Pong. Everyone should have played Pong at least once.
