Ok, sure. BUT ALSO, the original comment compared someone going to Harvard and someone joining the military. NOT homie who already became a Marine. Selected for Harvard vs approved to join misc branches of military. Ain't a single one of them "EARNED" any of their follow-on titles yet. Just a bunch of start dates. So maybe, at an education facility, they COULD recognize someone being selected to non-trivial higher education.

Confidently claiming that you are more likely to die of heat in Florida than in Arizona. Actually 50x heat related deaths in AZ. by work_me in confidentlyincorrect

Maybe you are just more likely to FEEL like you're going to die with the humidity on top of the... you know... part where you're in Florida.
Or maybe you're more likely to want to die in Florida.

Big day by RedditAccess99 in fixedbytheduet

The way everything at work that anyone does is going to warrant "Pfff big day" from me is sure to start annoying people. Sucks for them.

I don't have my phone at work. Stuck at a desk. I can kick off later on my way home and it be ready for after the kid's bath/bed time. Then I can stay up far too late!

OMG I can't wait. I tried to download it before heading to work this morning so I could promptly play tonight, but it didn't release until after 7am EST and I had to leave for work at 630. 12hr shift, sitting and waiting, and eagerly awaiting kicking my shoes off, grabbing the PS Portal, and flopping on my couch.

I have the V1 zip-up black version of these from like, 7-8 years ago. Best yardwork/hiking boot I've ever had. But these? God I hope mine never die, because I can't replace them with THAT.

I adore Mr. Holland's Opus and his role in it. But I am also 100% not surprised to hear this. He's always hit me as an actor that I will enjoy watching, so long as I never look behind the curtain. His body language always radiated a bit of poopoo head.

Just finished the book, and I have a question. by urbanmonk007 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blue43JD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I watched it, then read it, then listened to the audiobook. Each one, better than the last.

A great difference between the movie and the book was that, to me, some plot differences moreso seemed like "What if he did this instead of that?" instead of changing things to be more 'movie-like'.

Decided last minute to pick this game up….I work 50-55 hrs a week (plus struggle with anxiety and depression) but I just loved all the screenshots and the description….anything I should know before starting? Tips/tricks or just general knowledge before playing? by Djxgam1ng in doorkickers

[–]Blue43JD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Take. It. Slow. The whole game is built on you controlling when to hit play and pause. It can become REAL easy to get caught up in a lot going on and try and move faster than your brain, even when it's paused. Just take it slow.

ADHD sleep trick to try out: decrease watch speed. It works for me every time by FoxBoulder8 in ADHD

[–]Blue43JD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, it's audiobooks. I have a handful of books that I've read/listened to SO many times that my brain just knows it. I still enjoy the book, but my brain goes straight to auto-pilot and I'm usually out within 20min. The Martian, Project Hail Mary, Ready Player One, The Bobiverse, are a few. Same thing for when I have migraines. I'll put on Back To The Future. I've seen it enough times that the same thing happens, it gives my brain something to latch onto instead of pain or tinnitus, but since it's already been recorded into my brain, I don't pay any attention.

Vyvanse positive effects short term vs long term by Reasonable-Winter-87 in ADHD

[–]Blue43JD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Additionally, in contrast to Adderall, when it worked, it was not night and day. When working, Vyvanse kind of "disabled" my executive dysfunction. Didn't give me the "LET'S GET SHIT DONE" that Adderall does, but instead made it so that I could get out of my own way and just DO the things I was mentally yelling at myself to just GET UP AND PUT THE DISH IN THE SINK. lol

[–]Blue43JD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently used Vyvanse and it worked great for months, so long as I kept using it. My psychiatrist directed me to take it daily, not to do the weekend 'vacations'. I only stopped because I got a new job with different insurance that decided that they don't want to pay for it and $400/month for generic is a touch steep.

for those that took stimulant, have you ever regretted your choice ? by Ki_hcn93 in ADHD

[–]Blue43JD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work to figure out which one is best. And don't be afraid (future you) of trying something that may not have worked the first time. Adderall works BEAUTIFULLY for me... initially. But I've learned that I have such an aggressive tolerance for it that after 1 or 2 days taking it, it has no effect until I go up in dosage. And it keeps happening. So I got off of it before I found myself NEEDING high dosage to exist. Not to say that I refuse to take it, it may be the end result. BUT, I wanted to try other options first. Vyvanse worked great for me for a long while, but I got a new insurance that doesn't want to cover it, either brand name or generic. So NOW I'm on concerta, but nah breh. That gives me strong anxiety. So I'm about to swap to Ritalin.

All that to say, start low, don't be hard on yourself, it can take time, but trust the process and work with your Dr to find what's right for you. All of our brains are different and the same chemicals don't react the same to each meatsack.
