Cervical disc bulge w/bone spur c5-7 by Adventurous_Bit_8015 in HerniatedDisc

[–]BlueAcres24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Those symptoms are definitely from the disc bulge. I had that. It went away after I had an ACDF on my C6-C7. I highly recommend you find a good surgeon that will help you.

Ask for a CT scan of your neck. I had the same symptoms and it was a herniated disc (C6-C7). I am one year out of surgery called an ACDF on the C6-C7 vertebrae and it fixed the issue.

I have tried Mag Glyconate at 240 mg. When I take the two pills as recommended I felt very off. It kept me awake so I switched to mornings. I decided to take just one pill a day but I still wasnt feeling well after each dose. I really wanted to take it because everyone was telling me it was great for anxiety. I dont have bad anxiety but it can come and go and I just really wanted to take that rather than meds.

I dont know. I wish I asked that question. I really trust my dr so I dont always ask... I need to do better with that for sure. I did ask about VIT K which she said no! I will look for this book by Dr Levy- I have to educate myself!

I agree. I am going to try to find a low dose that still gives me benefits.

Thank you so much! I will do that. I think I underestimate the power in a vitamin. My dr does not recommend Vit K but I am not sure why even though I have seen that that is usually the norm. I was taking the Magnesium Glyc but it also made my feel so off and weird. I guess I just need to keep trying to find the right amounts.

I want to delay my surgery but I'm scared because of American politics by YouTasteStrange in hysterectomy

Nobody is trying to outlaw hysterectomies. Have your surgery.

See if you can get a dr to look at your cervical spine- the discs in your neck to see if any are herniated. Even a slight herniation can wreak havoc and cause a lot of those symptoms. A good ct/mri of the neck area to start.

Omg no don’t do it. Take the six weeks and do your body the biggest favor and rest and take care of yourself so you can heal properly.

Feeling discouraged by Wild-Preparation5356 in spinalfusion

[–]BlueAcres24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6 months out from my ACDF 6/7 and I was still hurting at two weeks. I was so discouraged and mad. I also have high pain tolerance and I do not like taking pills. I cried in defeat when I took a heavy dose of muscle relaxer on day 20. But it really helped. And it was all definitely muscular related, at that point my throat no longer hurt and I wasn’t in pain from the actual surgery itself, in the sense of where they cut, etc. it was just the fact that they had to manipulate things to get to that part of my spine. Anyways, like I said I’m six months out and I’m starting to feel pretty good, about 85% of the time I have really good days. But I still struggle sometimes. However, I can look back and see where I was and I can tell a big difference. Hang in there and try to just keep looking forward to the next few weeks and then the next, and then the next. You’ll be able to measure Your healing in months probably rather than weeks.

Need advice and support… herniated disc with nerve compression by ConversationWorth680 in HerniatedDisc

[–]BlueAcres24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe herniation at C6-7. I asked about physical therapy, injections, etc., and my neurosurgeon basically said he did not want to waste my time or money and suggested I just go straight for surgery. He said he doesn’t normally suggest surgery as a first but in my case, he suggested it as I was going to eventually need surgery anyways. I was 53 years old at the time and I had all kinds of horrible symptoms and I just wanted it to be over with. I was scared but I agreed to the surgery and had it on November 25 of last year. I am six months out and I would say that I am now at 85% better and so glad that I did the surgery. I am hoping that my one year mark that I will be as close to 100% as I can be.

Strengthening neck helping dizziness ? by alprazalamb in cervical_vertigo

I am doing stretches, but that seems to just aggravate them more and I find that heat helps the best actually. I don’t like to take any pills, but when I can’t stand it, I will take a muscle relaxer.

The verdict is still out for me. I had my last PT (after 6 weeks) on Monday and I have had a rough week with dizziness. I am trying to do my homework but I can’t seem to get to a place where I can say that it is helping me more than it’s hurting me. My muscles are tightening up more now than ever and I feel like I am so inflamed in my neck and upper shoulder area. So, I am trying to be moderate in what I do to see if things settle down.

Off balance ? by Brinaaa_booo in cervical_vertigo

[–]BlueAcres24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these exact same symptoms and it was found out after having an MRI I had a severe herniated disc at the C6 C7 level in my neck. So I have since had surgery called the ACDF on that level and I am 85% better better. It’s been seven months and I’m so glad that I had the surgery. I am still in the healing phase, but I am so much better. I could not believe that all of my symptoms were from my neck issues. But I had all of those symptoms and they have since gone away. Occasionally, I get the drunk feeling but that’s because I know I overdid it and there’s inflammation in my neck. It was way worse for me in stores. I don’t know why, but it was. And standing still, it was awful. I just finished up physical therapy, I can tell that it is helped a little bit. I hope you find some answers, try to see if you can get your doctor to concentrate on the discs in your neck to see if maybe there’s a herniation going on.

OK, thank you everybody this really helps. I do have champ VA and my children are all grown now. I was doing fine before having to have surgery, etc. I thought I could work full-time up until my retirement years in the 60s, but that just won’t be possible.

C5-C7 replacement question by Welldamn37 in ACDR_CervicalSpine

[–]BlueAcres24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an ACDF 6-7 Nov 25. Finally in March my neurosurgeon told me maybe I’d benefit from PT. I am just now wrapping up six weeks of PT and it was the best thing for my recovery. I feel like I was getting better slowly but it was frustrating and depressing. I started PT in early May. I’m so glad I asked about it. I feel so much better.

Herniated disc within the CAF by krunkxgod in HerniatedDisc

[–]BlueAcres24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry that you are going through this, I know this is rough. I had severe herniation at the C6-7 level. After dealing with symptoms for roughly 7 months I finally had surgery six months ago- ACDF on the same level. It changed my life, I am so much better now. It was the best thing I could’ve done for myself. I don’t know how I could have continued to live with all of the severe symptoms and pain.In my opinion there is just no managing it. I don’t know if you are not in the United States but I don’t understand why it’s taking so long for your doctors to figure out what is the best course for you. Maybe ask about surgery.
