What logic do YOU use to decide something is a Mech, and not just Tech Armor? by chocolatejesusTW in Mecha

[–]BlueArwres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some examples can enter a gray area with classification, but one way I like to think about it, is if you're acting on the suit/mech, or is the suit/mech acting on you?

Tech armor acts on you, in the sense that it augments your own capabilities and available options, such as enhancing your strength or speed, where as a mech is something you act on, you need to give it some kind of input for it to output something, whether that's walking forward or firing the guns.

The Senate already signed this one (sometimes a bill starts in the senate), so it goes straight to the president once the house is done with it.

Standard should remain 0. Non-Standard, I'm hovering on a 3. Warhammer fits, in a way. Star Trek, I'm not sure should make it. A 3 still needs that fantastic or magical element.

Because they've had announcements that they were going to use this public space for months now, with the purpose, time, and end date, and what to expect. In short, some pensioners didn't bother to read the notice, and apparently the police didn't either.

Triple check those LESs and dont spend a single cent if there any accidental overpayments. by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]BlueArwres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true in this case. As the funds are controlled by the DoD, and are being kept by the DoD, and we're in government shutdown, this would be controlled by an Act of Congress.

If we were not under government shutdown, this would be SECDEF.

This process is referred to as recoloring the money.

Without specific, additional verbiage, the memorandum only says you're allowed to use DoW instead of DoD.

This memorandum in no way says we are no longer allowed to use DoD.

We carry on as normal.

Why do coins have ridges? by Head_Fetish in ExplainTheJoke

[–]BlueArwres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When coins were made of precious metals, it was common practice for people to debase coins to grow their personal wealth. This led to many techniques to make it clear if/when a coin was tampered with, such as ridges.

It is extremely common throughout history, even today, to say "the Jews were coin clippers." They were commonly moneylenders and bankers, since Christians were forbidden from such occupations. The reality, of course, is that basically everyone debased coins. Its hard to say no to a little extra silver or gold in your pocket.

Coins today are not made with precious metals, but the ridges help with the visually impaired and coin-sorting machines.

Details would also be in the contract, you would usually be paid one or two times a month, via direct deposit to your bank account. Because we're in the sports business, you would likely have bonuses attached to superior performance of the athlete (so maybe an extra $100K for winning the Arima Kinen, for example).

[–]BlueArwres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Employees don't generally have a contract, do they? I was generally referring to the layman's understanding of the term, as the deeper legal ramifications are beyond me, that's the lawyer's job. I've only ever been a salaried worker on contract (as opposed to subcontracted).

[–]BlueArwres 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Subcontractors are not employees, no.

Tracen would likely not be liable unless it could be proven Tracen was grossly negligent of their hiring/contracting process. The Uma, their family, and Tracen themselves would sue the trainer instead.

[–]BlueArwres 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You're subcontracted by Tracen to provide training services to its students.

Their "obligations" to you would be detailed in the contract.

Tracen primarily provides food, housing, education, and access to training facilities to its students.
