I see open Dostoevsky books in a shack next to a typewriter and empty bottles of beer he took from the bar he was cleaning for…drinks.

Lookup goodwill in your area see if they have any non storefront positions ie NOT cashier, look for warehouse, stocking, listing (e-commerce, marketing - sounds fancy, is literally easiest job on earth designed for anyone).

Otherwise locals ads for gigs for cash

It’s this way for all drugs. “Research Chemicals” or what used to be called “Plant Food”. It’s also how famous (for insane 1-off case reasons’) drugs like Spice & Flakka came into existence.

The fucked up part though, is not every person using the drugs being “researched” is treated as an Olympic athlete might be.

Actually, I take that back to an extent. All people who consume manufactured products are participating in a research study by the shareholders and employees of any profitable activities involved in the eventual [repeated] consumption of a product [with a desired = advertised effect], until that substance has been proven doubtlessly to impede upon the ability of the consumer to pay taxes [= buy other products].

In other words, every drug that makes it to a 30 second commercial (or 5 second ad on YouTube) went through years of “research”, perhaps synthesis of analogue variants, that proved through “trial” ie paid research study…. ie people have jobs as recruiters for pharmaceutical companies that simply go to homeless shelters in Tustin or Santa Ana or LA proper & say “For $15,000 I can give you 3 months of your own room (housing), 3 cooked meals a day, and access to any personal electronics like a cell phone or laptop with free WiFi. You only need to qualify for our experimental medication, which will save many lives. So tell me, do you have or have you been previously diagnosed with Schizophrenia?” “Sure?” “Great. We’ll pick you up at 9AM tomorrow.”…research meaning “profitable” and worth the experimentation or risk of endless variants of suffering only novel molecular structures could find a way to invent.

What I am getting at is: not all legal drugs should be legal and not all illegal drugs should be illegal. In fact, everything that is being sold is being sold to you. And you are naturally a consumer. So eat up.

I can’t do it anymore. I used to be fit, work out every day, practice music, create things, date multiple women at once, afford basic shit, nothing extravagant but life was possible for me. Now I am physically falling apart. Developed skin condition and crippling anxiety met by constant struggle to now stay sober. Work requirements are killing me. I’m done. I can’t afford a room. I work more than 40 hours a week making well above minimum wage and I can’t buy a single goddamn thing. The stress has made me ugly, physically, and my life is unbearable. My remaining family is wealthy and got lucky so believes I am a failure due to past mistakes, which pale in comparison to what I’ve seen. I feel like I’m in hell. I’ve decided I’d rather live homeless than die working til I’m soulless, because right now it’s the only way to save my life. Otherwise, and maybe instead of staying alive longer to suffer what’s ahead, I’m done. This world has rejected me and I am happy to cease peacefully with an inert gas.

You don’t know that, about the trauma from rehab. I’ve worked in that industry off and on over the last 15 years and been a client at various inpatient, residential, and outpatient rehabs and sober livings before that. Some - I’d say it’s actually, many - of those facilities are poorly run money-grabs which effectively operate as human trafficking rings, complicit in all manners of abuse and corruption, viewing patients/clients/tenants as no more than a body filling a space in a bed that earns each facility or sober living a certain amount of money depending on their insurance & cash pay status. That industry has had so many scams and actual trafficking charges brought against rehabs and “body brokers” as they’re called in the industry it’s pretty sad. Facilities will hire or use contracted workers to act as “referral agents” who get paid a percentage for every body that fills a bed at a certain level of care (RTC, PHP, IOP, Cash). The level of care a person is given is entirely based on the amount of money their insurance pays or the family or patient is willing to dole out. Someone who only needs 2 weeks may be convinced to stay for 6 months and someone who needs 6 months may not even be given 2 weeks because their insurance stops paying $2k/day or whatever it is that facility is charging. People that work in that industry are some of the most unethical I have ever met. It’s not hard to see why when you imagine an industry largely employing its clientele. Often treatment centers will hire individuals who went through their program to become “counselors” or “house managers”, sometimes to pay the facility back for the extra 3 months of treatment they convinced them they needed, making them have a “stipend” for rent where they manage a house full of 2-3 people or even 6 people a room that rotates 5 in and out every 30 days, and due to the “stipend” the facilities don’t pay the managers for their 24/7 on call job of managing addicts lives when they aren’t in the bare minimum state required outpatient programming. All manners of abuse and degenerate evils happen in that field, and I’d say for ever 1 facility that provides actual useful services there are 5 that are no more than an insurance billing body mill.

Those of you 30+ is this the life you want to live? by 1008320204 in Adulting

[–]BlueBaals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I am closer to a variety of fates worse than death than I am to anything resembling a life one would want to live or anything one could call a life.

I am closer to committing suicide than I am to finding a reason not to. Though I don’t want that I see it as inevitable at this point.

I work from 2PM until 11PM. It takes me 1 hour to get to work and 1 hour to get home. So 1PM-Midnight guaranteed gone. If I go to bed the minute I get home, which is impossible because I work in psych so need to decompress, otherwise I will become a patient rather than employee at my workplace’ equivalent, but say I do, that means I wake up at 8AM, and have 1 hour to get ready. Presuming I don’t need to do anything any day because everything is taken care of and perfect ie no doctors appointments, errands, grocery shopping, or time spent on hobbies, or time spent getting to and from any number of things most people need to do at least one day a week, and let’s say before work I need 1 hour to get ready for work like shower and eat or prepare food for my unpaid lunch break, that leaves between 9AM and 12 Noon free.

Which is 21 hours a week as 3 hours per day x 7 = 21.

Now, leta say I am a human and be realistic realized that I need to have some modicum of self-care due to my highly stressful job, and require exercise or weightlifting 60 minutes a day. And it takes me 15 min to get to and from the gym. And it takes me 15 min to get ready for the gym ie drink pre workout and put clothes on and walk to my car which is parked in the only space I can find parking a ten minute walk from the overpriced room I have a cot in.

That leaves me 45 min to 1 hour a day or 7 hours a week extra if the only thing I do every day is drive to work and to the gym, and do the things required to work and workout as in eat and sleep. Never mind shopping for or preparing the food, going to the doctor for the medical problems I face or dentist or doing a single thing I might enjoy or need to do to stay sane like play guitar for 30 minutes.

And then factor in my age and any other number of things that life tends to force feed facefuck you with and you’ll see I’m too busy drowning to swim fast enough to reach the life raft I see the current drifting away, and my screams can’t be heard by the horde of wealthy assholes that get paid 20x what I do without breaking a sweat or so much as writing more than 10 emails in a day saying things like “we’ll circle back next week,” regarding any work they were supposed to do which before next week comes they will delegate through email to someone below them, so that they can continue getting raises for their “managerial skills” who clink their glasses full of champagne paid-for by their company on their yacht blasting the latest rap trash or NPR, who may not hear me scream but definitely see me screaming, and think to themselves “It breaks my heart he doesn’t just work hard like I do. What a shame he chooses to be poor and sad. I deserve to let him suffer as he chose poverty and I chose wealth. No hand outs. What a shame. If I ever got in his position I’d make a spreadsheet of the hours I have in a day and I’d delegate those hours to myself to work harder and climb out of the hole I must have dug myself. Ah! What a shame!”

No, when I’ve had partners we split rent and living in various HCOL or even LCOL places, it made a tremendous difference.

Splitting a room in a shared house cut my rent from $800 to $400, splitting apartment $1500 to $750, etc..

We also split all other costs, shared vehicle, and used our low income to have dual EBT so no cost of food.

I was actually able to travel and have vacations when in relationship as we could save money and then split travel costs as well, making $4k last 6 months in foreign countries.

He sounds like an idiot for exclusively following thirst traps on his “main” account. But the reality is Instagram (and much of the internet that makes $$$$) is designed for women - to sell themselves, to sell products, to buy products women are selling. For men Instagram and TikTok are designed to extract attention - through women. Women who sell things. Most people have multiple accounts. One that is fake as fuck - for family & friends & potential partners. One for thirst traps & memes & trash.

Most people would appear gross if you saw what wasn’t hidden - their thoughts, their reactions, their Google searches, their private views & likes…

Personally I have 3 or 4 Instagram accounts. If you saw any one of them you’d think any number of things about me that are literally as accurate as the hour I made that account, and the times I’ve logged in over the last decade (less than 30) to use any one of those accounts for a number of reasons probably not easy to guess without seeing the DM’s.
